"Should've let him go through with it. Might have more answers than we've got now. From the sound of it, asking nicely hasn't been working."
Granted, he'd disapprove of the method, if he knew what she was talking about. But only because it was inefficient. First, you'd have to know whether or not the person was lying- and when you've got no other evidence to speak of, that's a little tricky. Two, it'd create the problem of what to do with the person afterward once the questioning was done. Letting him live would create the risk of the rest of the locals knowing what you'd done, killing him would create the problem of how to cover it up. If it could be covered up. Better to just sneak around looking for hard evidence rather than testimony or confessions.
He didn't have too much time to plan out a scenario of his own though, he had pleasantries to keep up with. And he flashed another smile as he felt Holiday's grip tighten. Definitely more than he'd anticipated from the science-y type.

"Heck of a grip for a lab rat. Field work?"
Not the most crushing handshake he'd ever received, but he was still glad to have his own hand back. After making sure to treat her to the same, of course. He was the captain, after all. Best to convey that authority every chance he could get, even if he didn't have the Valkyrie with him.
