Test Drive Meme - November Edition
![]() Welcome to the Rekindle Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. Then don't forget to go reserve your character, GO GO GO....... |
Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: |
Option 1 |
[Wherever you were, whatever you were doing, it doesn't matter. All it takes is blinking, or stepping into a dark room before the lights are turned on. Anything to obscure your vision for a moment. Just a moment, but in that moment, a pull is felt, and suddenly, you are elsewhere. Just where that 'elsewhere' happens to be is something that needs to be figured out. It appears to be a busy city, though, so it shouldn't be too hard finding anyone at all! Feel free to explore, try to find answers, or just take a moment to catch your breath. Whatever it was that pulled you to this place left you feeling a tad disoriented.] |
Option 2 |
[Though the temperatures have been remarkably warm for the beginning of the season, the humidity has finally given way to a crisp, cool feeling in the air that is far more refreshing to those not used to a tropical or sub-tropical 'fall'. All of the stock is being rotated out of the Mall and Marketplace by the dutiful shop keepers - the bright colors and shorter cuts of summer clothing being replaced by the more muted, richer earth tones and the long sleeves of the proper season. In celebration of the start of the equivalent of 'fall' in the city, all the stores are holding a special - should you wish to purchase any new clothes for the shifting season and arrive at the counter with a friend, you get a discount! Perhaps you should find someone to purchase your items with...?] |
Option 3 |
[There is practically no warning for the change in the weather. One moment, the air is crisp and cool, and the skies only have a few clouds. The next moment, the skies have darkened and the clouds up above have opened up into a steady, unrelenting rainfall. Luckily, there seem to be a number of small shelters erected at even intervals along the streets. There seems to be enough room under those shelters for two to three people to stand - perhaps there's even someone standing under one now, waiting for the rain to pass. At least you'll have someone to talk to while you wait out the rain!] |
Option 4 |
[Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] |
Option 5 |
[If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.] |

[She doesn't mean to parrot things, but she's never really met someone who does that before. Neither can M'gann prevent the curious look that crosses her face, though at least she can switch it out for a thoughtful expression, quick enough. She just has to think back, review what all she's seen, and...]
"Okay, let me think...Banks, banks...No one's attempted to rob one yet, as far as I know, so-"
[...Well. She didn't intend to have that slip out; nothing for it but to keep talking over it.]
"S-so I think...The second district? That's where all the administration is, that's probably where the banks are as well."
no subject
And here, if people need physical contact to feel okay even more than usual, a massage therapist can do that without any real stranger-awkwardness. Because hey, it's my job! [She spreads her hands.]
[The bit about robbing banks does get her attention.] Well, that's good to know. My entire world is kind of a rough neighborhood. I can look after myself and others okay, but I prefer to do that in more peaceful ways.
Oh! All right. I must have gotten turned around. It happens to me sometimes. Back home I spend a lot of time in an environment which has some spatial rules that are different from ordinary ones, so when I'm someplace relatively normal I can get a bit lost.

[Rough neighborhoods...Well, they were ALL working on that, and making things better. And again it's giving things away that she doesn't mean to; but Zeta tubes are kind of sort of common knowledge on Earth-16, right?
Besides, she can always move on to the slightly more normal part of the conversation.]
"I've never had a massage before," [Though she does have an endoskeleton! Even in a different form, she's at least not completely different from humans in that regard.] "But I've heard about them before. And they sound nice; the whole idea sounds nice, actually."
[She nods, warming fast to the idea.]

The truth is, my Earth is pretty much ordinary spatially, but I spend much of my time in its spirit world. In the spirit world, spatial dimensions are altered. Two places that are physically far off could have a mystical connection that lets you move between them instantly. Like that. Also, spirits are basically energy, so they can zap themselves great distances in a short time.
[She just smiles and writes down her name and room number on a scrap of paper.] After this I'll kinda owe you one anyway. It's...really not bad. Clients often talk at the same time. I listen, I give them ideas where I can help.
[She peers around, then points at a taller and more businessy-looking building.] Maybe that's the start of the District that way?
no subject
"Y-yes! I mean...Yes, that's where it should be."
[...Remember to walk, M'gann. Not float, much as that's tempting to show off what she can do, too.]

I also use magic to enhance herbalism, the bodywork, and my nursing skills. That lets me help people who aren't human, or otherwise would't much be helped by a regular hospital. [She's clearly happy to just be able to talk about this stuff.] Back home, I have to keep it all a huge secret and I absolutely hate it. It's hard to find the people who need you most if you have to hide all the time.
no subject
[All this talk about secrets makes her pause, frowning for a moment. It...Just doesn't seem fair that this person is so free about her abilities, while M'gann is being tight lipped about her own.
...Oh, why not try and test the waters a little? If she has to, she can always change her features around for a different civilian ID. M'gann lets a little bit of green into her fingers and face, as she eases back into walking.]
"I...I kind of like it here. People mostly seem used to thi- other people that are a little different."
[Please don't freak out, please don't freak out, please don't freak out...]
no subject
[She notices the shift in skin color, and has to almost physically restrain herself not to investigate by shifting her visual range toward life energy and taking a peek.] ...cool. [If anything, she relaxes a little.]
Yeah, I admit...even if there wasn't a need, I'd be really tempted to stay here a while.
Once we find the right building, you wanna grab some ice cream?
no subject
She's really not freaking out! Oh happy day indeed for M'gann, and she might even float a little with her next steps as she gives an enthusiastic nod, letting her psychic abilities lift her up just that tiny bit into the air to express her relief and excitement.]
"Yeah! Ice cream sounds great," [good way to celebrate meeting someone new, as well.] "There's some places near the river front that sell it, too."
no subject
You make me miss some of my old friends from the places I've gone. Like Sir Ziggy. Same sort of vibe.
[She nods, taking a bit of time out to check out the buildings around them. The place has a logic to the way it's laid out, and she'll be fine once she gets the landmarks down.] Very cool, we'll head there next.
I wonder how people around here would react to my spirit buddies.
