Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it:

Option 1

[The mid-summer rays are beginning to subside at last, giving way to a few cooler breezes here and there as the sun begins to set and the moons rise in the sky. So what does that mean? Well, for the locals, it means it's time to begin preparations for the autumnal festival! The reds, oranges, and yellows take on a more rustic tone in the streets as the venders set up their outdoor marketplace stands, selling all kinds of treats and delicacies. From fresh corn and pretzels, to strange fruits that may look like those from home (although different in color, not taste), these vendors seem to have it all! Though in a few stands, it seems as though there are snacks and desserts meant to be split in two or shared with another. They also seem to be very fond of giving discounts to couples... Oh, my...]

Option 2

[Everything on the riverbank seems to be the norm for every other day: Vendors renting out innertubes for two, others selling ice cream and watermelon during the still warm days, and even a few water balloons still being tossed around or kept hidden nearby. At night, however, there seems to be a gathering at the water's edge as some hold little paper lanterns, aglow with small candles inside them as they gleam golden in the moonlight. The locals say that wishing on them as you let them float into the air brings you good luck, and makes that wish come true. But that's just a silly rumor, isn't it? At least it's pretty, along with the small candles floating on the water's surface...]

Option 3

[It doesn't matter where you are or what you were doing. All that matters is you've suddenly been hit with the chills (or did the temperature suddenly skyrocket?) and they don't seem to be going away just yet. Yep. Those wacky scientists seem to be at it again... At least it should pass soon, but whether it be chills or being far too hot, maybe you should...find someone else with this problem. After all, even the face of the medical community says that it will only be fixed by hugging or holding someone's hand.]

Option 4

[Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.]

Option 5

[If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.]

[As far as Homura is concerned, Festivals make good distractions from other things. They're not good for much else -- at least not for her, when she has so much weighing on her mind.

That is, until a familiar voice pierces the veil of her thoughts. How long had Homura been hovering a few feet behind Madoka?

This other person trying to get their discount picked the wrong girl for a quick date, if the stare she offers them is any hint. Its enough to complete freeze the interaction, even without her powers. She's the first to break the silence by glancing down at Madoka and offering a simple:]

Madoka Kaname.

Homura-chan?

[ Madoka's not used to how cool her friend has become, but she doesn't allow the hesitance in her words last for long because of it. Recently, it feels as if she's hundreds of years out of reach both in mind and heart... but that's just an odd feeling to describe, isn't it? She can't even begin to place it into words, so all she can do is smile and offer her friendship even now.

The poor guy who thought to ask Madoka gets the hint fairly quick and strides off to leave the two girls to themselves. ]

Sorry, I don't think he really meant to ask me.

[ Even if she's the only person he could have asked that's around. ] Maybe he meant to ask you!

[ Because she's cool and Madoka is Not. ]

[Its nice to find that Madoka isn't afraid of her, but there were so many other things wrong that it hadn't cheered her any to discover. There was no way to reset her fate when they were stuck here, so she would simply have to play along until it was time to get back to business.

Her stare softens just enough to take the angry edge away from it.]

There is no reason for you to apologize.

[She glances toward the rejected man wandering off to find someone else.]

If he wanted to ask me anything, then he would have.

Maybe he was just too shy. You're so cool and collected now that any boy would be scared to approach you.

[ She'll be Homura's wingman any day. ] Oh, but I don't think you're that scary Homura-chan!

[ It was still a lot to take in. Too much to fully understand why her friend wore her hair differently now or didn't need glasses anymore. Though she doesn't start to walk yet to ask a question that's important to her. ]

Do you need to take a break? I don't want to push you too hard.

[erasponsible]

[Homura turns to consider Madoka for a moment again, shrugging and reaching under the back of her head to toss her hair off her shoulders. She didn't think her scary because she didn't know any better, of course.]

Maybe you should.

[Her eyes open a moment after Madoka asks if she needed a break. She hadn't bothered to take the time to explain what had happened to her, because it wasn't important. She wasn't about to explain now -- she would likely figure it out on her own anyway.]

Was there something you wanted to do?

[ribbow]

[ She should? That's weird, but maybe Homura's picked up a new sense of humor along with all of her other changes. No sweat, Madoka will work around it. ]

Oh, there's a lot to do here. [ Admittedly, it was daunting with how much there was to occupy their time with. ] Have you ever been to a festival before?

[erasponsible]

[Had she? She had repeated the last month so many times she could barely remember anything but that. There is a long and somewhat uncomfortable pause before Homura simply supplies:]

Not in a long time.

[ribbow]

Then please do anything you want, Homura-chan. [ Giving a jovial laugh despite her ignorance of Homura's situation. ] This will be my treat!

I don't have much, but we'll do anything you want. Is there a ride you'd like to try or oh! We can try to eat a little bit of everything until our bellies ache from too much food!

[erasponsible]

[Homura listens to everything Madoka rattles off, ignoring the sinking pit in her stomach. There was nothing she wanted to do except to walk off, leave this village, and find a way to rid Madoka of her burden -- something that was impossible so long as they were stuck here. As such, nothing appealed to her until Madoka mentioned eating.

She was not hungry. The thought of food made her slightly more ill. But there was nothing she could do to alleviate the problem at hand, currently. If Madoka wanted to walk around the festival and enjoy snacks, well...

Homura offered a small, polite nod.]

I will accompany you.

[ribbow]

[ What part of this being her treat did Homura fail to catch on? Her friend's left her confused, but she bounces back from it in record time. ]

No, I'll accompany you. [ While she's trying to be firm about it, Madoka's naturally shy demeanor keeps the tone from coming across too strong. ] So lead the way, Homura-chan.

[erasponsible]

[There are two blinks from Homura before she simply moves to stride passed Madoka. Leading. She can do that.

It'll become apparent pretty quickly that she is just content with walking, rather than actually indulging in anything. But in that same moment of realization, she'll speak up without turning around.]

I would not feel comfortable taking money from you, Madoka Kaname-san. You should just enjoy yourself.

[ribbow]

Huh, but the point is to enjoy yourself so if you have no means to do that, it'll be alright to share.

[ Her voice picks up to show just how serious she is on the matter as she struggles to keep up with Homura. Since when was she so good at walking (or anything really)? ]

I guess I'll just have to buy the largest serving and split it with you.

[erasponsible]

[Don't ask questions you don't want the answers to, Madoka.

Homura stops fairly abruptly and turns to notice that she's walking a bit too fast. She'll have to tone it down if she wants to keep Madoka from getting too suspicious of her. Better to avoid questions as long as possible -- there was no telling what could happen to the timeline if they suddenly both appeared back in Mitakihara as they were.]

...if you insist.

[ribbow]

You don't have any food allergies, do you?

[ Yay, now that she's actually caught up to Homura's side, she can speak to her like she's a person and not shout at her back. ]

Nuts? Do you like nuts or cherries? I kind of like cherries, but mama gets sour with me when I won't spit out the stems.

[erasponsible]

No, I do not have any allergies.

[At least, she didn't now. Again, Homura blinks twice.]

I won't tell if you don't spit them out.

[ribbow]

[ Aha! ] I knew it, Homura-chan is the best friend anyone can ever ask for!

[ Just twists that dagger in a little deeper. ]

Oh, but don't tell Sayaka-chan I said that... She'd probably pick a fight with you in my honor, but she's a good girl too!

[erasponsible]

[It hurts. She can't stop her hands from balling to fists for a brief moment, but they uncurl expertly as she turns to a nearby stand trying to give cupcakes away. Its an easy distraction from the conversation, at least.

She looks back over her shoulder tentatively at Madoka.]

These have cherries on them.

[ribbow]

You found something with cherries on them that quick? Maybe I have future-telling powers as well!

[ After saying that, she pauses to give a wary glance to make sure no one heard that. Oops. ]

S-Sorry, everyone else is so open about what they can do that I forgot it was our little secret.

[erasponsible]

[Homura forces a sigh in Madoka's direction, as if to display some exaggeration. It isn't entirely convincing.]

It would be wise to keep it that way. You wouldn't want others to worry needlessly.

[ribbow]

What's there to worry about? There are no witches here.

[ Which means Madoka isn't going to go off into battle anytime soon. She's too much of a scaredy-cat to do that (unless of course a cat is in danger). ]

[erasponsible]

[Homura frowns pointedly. Now she looks a little annoyed.]

You still possess a Soul Gem.

[--no, that's probably too much information for right now, so she adds:]

We may have not seen a witch yet, but that does not mean they cannot appear.

[ribbow]

[ Good call. Madoka doesn't quite understand what she means by pointing out the Soul Gem, but she'll hold up her hand with the ring on it. ]

Yes, but without witches to fight... it'll be alright?

[ Her uncertainty comes out in her tone strong. Why was Homura bringing that up? ]

[erasponsible]

[Said too much. She blinks slowly, weighing the pros and cons of honesty before she turns back around to face Madoka head on.]

I merely meant that we should not let our guard down just yet.

[Her head tilts.]

Do you feel unwell?

[ribbow]

Um, I'm just wondering what will happen if we're unable to collect Grief seeds.

[ If anything, there's one person between them that can be honest. ]

We'll lose the ability to fight, won't we?

[erasponsible]

[She does not like lying to Madoka.]

I have enough to last for some time yet. There is no reason to be concerned about them.
