Test Drive Meme!
![]() Welcome to the Rekindle Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. Then don't forget to go reserve your character, GO GO GO....... |
Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: |
Option 1 |
[The mid-summer rays are beginning to subside at last, giving way to a few cooler breezes here and there as the sun begins to set and the moons rise in the sky. So what does that mean? Well, for the locals, it means it's time to begin preparations for the autumnal festival! The reds, oranges, and yellows take on a more rustic tone in the streets as the venders set up their outdoor marketplace stands, selling all kinds of treats and delicacies. From fresh corn and pretzels, to strange fruits that may look like those from home (although different in color, not taste), these vendors seem to have it all! Though in a few stands, it seems as though there are snacks and desserts meant to be split in two or shared with another. They also seem to be very fond of giving discounts to couples... Oh, my...] |
Option 2 |
[Everything on the riverbank seems to be the norm for every other day: Vendors renting out innertubes for two, others selling ice cream and watermelon during the still warm days, and even a few water balloons still being tossed around or kept hidden nearby. At night, however, there seems to be a gathering at the water's edge as some hold little paper lanterns, aglow with small candles inside them as they gleam golden in the moonlight. The locals say that wishing on them as you let them float into the air brings you good luck, and makes that wish come true. But that's just a silly rumor, isn't it? At least it's pretty, along with the small candles floating on the water's surface...] |
Option 3 |
[It doesn't matter where you are or what you were doing. All that matters is you've suddenly been hit with the chills (or did the temperature suddenly skyrocket?) and they don't seem to be going away just yet. Yep. Those wacky scientists seem to be at it again... At least it should pass soon, but whether it be chills or being far too hot, maybe you should...find someone else with this problem. After all, even the face of the medical community says that it will only be fixed by hugging or holding someone's hand.] |
Option 4 |
[Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] |
Option 5 |
[If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.] |

You didn't get wet at all!
[He claps his hands happily.]
Are you a goddes, Lady? Is that how you controlled the water?
no subject
[She sniffs.]
I'm not a goddess, I'm a magus.
[But Kendra smiles at this nonetheless. She certainly doesn't mind impressing people, or an admiring audience. See, children aren't so difficult after all. Clearly she's a natural at this.]
That means, a very powerful magic user.
[Which she isn't supposed to talk about, technically, but it hardly matters here. There seem to be a number of different kinds of magic users, from different worlds.]
no subject
Does that mean you are a druid? Druids use magic where I am from. Especially magic tired to nature! Your element must be the water then. That is why it listens to you so well!
[As if there was every any question to that...]
Can you speak to any other elements? Or is it just water that answers your call?
no subject
[Close, but... Kendra insists on precision.]
No, as the term druid implies a certain set of beliefs and practices that I do not partake in. However, I do have Elemental Affinities for Wind and Water.
no subject
[Kendra might insist on precision, but as a little boy, close enough is good enough for Diarmuid. Her abilities remind him of what druids can do so he will stick with that. However, since the title seems to mean so much to her, he will try to remember to call her a--what was the word--magus. It makes her happy, after all!]
I bet you have been practicing for a long time!
[The boy rocks back and forth on his feet excitedly.]
Will you show me some more tricks? Please?
no subject
[Kendra's vanity is appeased. However, her insistence on precision is not.]
Magecraft is no a matter of tricks. It is not a magician's slight of hand, performed for amusement. It is a manipulation of real and potentially dangerous forces, and it should not be taken lightly.
[Even if she had been amusing herself moments ago--but that is not the point. The point is that magecraft is a serious matter.]
no subject
[Diarmuid bows his head to her in apology.]
I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said 'trick.' It isn't the right word.
If you have practiced for that long and take it so seriously, no wonder why you can do such amazing things! What did you do back home? Do you teach? I bet you have so much you could teach the right student!
no subject
[This child is quite well-behaved. She's sure hers will be as well, once she has one.]
I am capable of any number of amazing feats.
Yes, I am a teacher. A professor, at a university dedicated to the study of magecraft. I am also the head of the Archibald family, one of the most distinguished and powerful magus bloodlines, and with such power comes many responsibilities.
no subject
It is an honor to meet you Lady...Archibald? Is that what I should call you? My name is Diarmuid. Diarmuid Ua Duibhne.
no subject
[She does insist on precision, but her titles don't mean anything to this ignorant child. She inclines her head in response to Diarmuid's bow. If most children are so easy to deal with, then certainly she won't have much trouble.
His name is a little odd.]
Diarmuid Ua Duibhne? After the mythological hero?
[Although being named Diarmuid after the hero is one thing, but parents wouldn't exactly change their last names, and that has certainly never been a usual one.]
no subject
[Diarmuid repeats the title slowly before frowning and shaking his head.]
I think I will stay with Lady Archibald. It is easier to say!
[He thinks on the title only for a short time, though, distracted by her next words.]
Is that the name of a hero? I would like to be one! Father says that if I try hard enough I can be anything I want to be. And I want to be a knight. A great knight. That way I can help lots of people!
[As if called by mention of the boy's father, a small blue and green butterfly appears out of Diarmuid's hair. It flutters around the boy's head and Diarmuid giggles, reaching out to gather it into his hands.
Anyone who can sense magic will easily be able to tell it is no normal butterfly, but one made out of magic instead. Very old magic.]
