Test Drive - December Edition
![]() Welcome to the Rekindle Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. |
Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: |
Option 1 |
[ It could be snowballs, or it could be slushballs; either way, someone has created a nice collection of cold round projectiles and stacked them nearby. There's even a fort or two made out of snow, or a few handy boxes boxes! A good thing too, given that those snow-slush-balls are currently filling the air...Or are just waiting for someone to pick them up and lob them. Regardless, you might want to duck and cover.] |
Option 2 |
[ Whether it's freezing rain or snow, chances are its easy to get chilled if you're out in the weather for long. Luckily, most of the buildings you can walk into have a roaring, toasty fire going in the fireplace, and some warm foods and drinks to take the chill out of your bones. There just might be more than one person, crowding around the best warm spots. ] |
Option 3 |
[With the temperatures dropping, there's ice forming along the rivers and lake. You can certainly try skating; there's even ice skates available! Just watch out for any thin ice, and be careful about bumping into other people out for a spin. ] |
Option 4 |
[Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] |
Option 5 |
[If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.] |

Lance Corporal Levi || Attack on Titan || no.3
[So that brings him to the lake. There's no much activity, which he prefers, and the snow is falling lightly to cover his tracks behind him. When he comes across the collection of skates, he's intrigued. He'd never seen whole ice skates, just the blades that you tied to your shoes and hoped didn't come undone. This seems way neater, so he sits down on a nearby bench with a pair he thinks might fit him and unstraps his boots. Quick inspection shows that the skates are relatively unworn and don't smell, so he deems them passable and begins pulling them on.]
[Soon, Levi is folding his own boots under the bench and standing up. He's a pretty balanced guy, considering the 3DMG, so it doesn't take much for him to stop wobbling and walk the few feet over to the iced over lake. A quick tap confirms it's solid and he takes off, sliding onto the surface with a flourish and starts a leisure trip around the edge. The cold feels good on his face, it keeps him from sweating, gross, and the world around him is silent. It's a good way to waste daylight.]
no subject
Okay to be fair he really doesn't know much about ice....] UGH, Jeez, whow! Hold on, just one second damn it! [He tires to mimic the action he saw someone do early to teach him--it is all for nothing. All those years of 3DMG training and he can't even keep his balance. The face he's making is one of extreme panic and discomfort. Jeans got himself stuck in the middle of the lack as well.]

Y'akeno Lhea | Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn | 3 + 2
[ it was rare for y'akeno to ever see snow, so when she arrived to see the cold stuff all around and the lake frozen it was little she could do but shift to the slightly-more-warm mage robes before putting on the ice skates and (trying) to skate across. there's just one tiiiiny problem.
she didn't completely know how, but the person who'd given her the skates said it shouldn't be too difficult! and luckily for her, her long tail was definitely helping in keeping her balance!
...except she isn't quite sure how to stop.
so you maaay want to either run or help the poor teenaged kitten. hopefully before she either runs into you or a snow slope. ]
B.
[ well, now that she is thoroughly enjoyed her first winter fun in ages, she's realized that she is actually getting a little cold despite the longer robes. hempen fabric does not keep a person warm for long, unfortunately - different world is not an exception.
thus she has taken shelter in a sort of cafe, a warm cup of whatever-this-is (why would they not give her ale? even young kittens had that! D: ) and taking a sip beside the fire. tasted like chocolate, though, which is fine for her. ]
brr... so cold... [ maybe she should... try and figure out this world's clothing style... if only to stay warmer. e_e ]
A
He spots the bard from a few yards away (is that a tail?) and notices that while she seems to be balancing just fine, her posture looks a little uncertain... and she's kind of heading for the edge of the lake.
Shinju pushes off with a skate to catch up with her, and after a few moments of approaching, he puts a gloved hand on her shoulder to help direct her away from the edge of the ice before she faceplants into the snow. He greets her with a concerned smile.]
Are you doing alright? [He could be totally mistaken, of course, and the cat-girl could have been completely in control. Hopefully it won't be too embarrassing if that's the case, but better safe than sorry.]
it's okay i kind of figured out which one you meant

Ruler (Jeanne d'Arc) - Fate/Apocrypha - 1
[In her first life, things had been very different. Winter was a harsh time. Families risked starvation or freezing in the snows. But in this time, when everyone was well-clothed and well-fed, winter and its snows become a festive occasion. And one of the attractions for more energetic people is a snowball fight.]
[It's not without some amusement that Ruler finds herself in a familiar role. That of referee. Somehow, she had been swept into this by the two teams. Such a familiar task...and yet a much less serious setting compared to the Grail War.]
Alright. Have the teams been divided equally, if they have...
[And then she gets a reminder why she should never let her guard down when judging, even in a children's game. The two teams take her declaration as a starting signal and start pelting each other with snowballs, leaving the unfortunate referee stuck in between, bowled over in the crossfire before she can even seek shelter.]
[Only after the initial barrage is over does she dig herself out of the snow.]
I didn't see who won...
no subject
[Like Junpei could resist a good snowball fight! Besides, it helped with his pitching arm. He made his way over to the referee, one snowball still in his hand, just in case the other team decided to attack during the ceasefire]
You okay? Need any help?
[He offered his free hand to the woman, to help pull her up or brush off some snow if she needed it.]

Without thinking, he bounds out to protect her, getting thwacked by snowballs as he does so. But he stands over her, reaching out his arms so his cloak protects her, smiling down at her as he takes the full force of the blows, pleased to have protected her, even as a snowball smacks into his head at full force.]

Blake Belladonna | RWBY | 2 or 4 | Spoilers for Blake's background
[Blake had been wandering around the city, trying to familiarize herself with her surroundings. The more she walked around, the more she realizes that Saeng Seong was nothing like Vale. No Beacon, no teammates, no creatures of Grimm, and no White Fang. She wasn't still quite sure what to think of that.
Not wanting to face the cold any longer, Blake ducks into the nearest building for warmth (a lodge of sorts), immediately rubbing her arms once she was near the fireplace. Her bow subtly twitches as she feels her entire body warm, making her heave a soft sigh.
Much better.
It wasn't like she was used to the cold. Growing up, the Faunus were subjected to worse living conditions after all. She's so deep in thought that she would probably wouldn't notice anyone trying to catch her attention now.]
[4 | Third Stage]
[Blake had read the letter once or twice already since arriving, listened to the natives drowned on and on how important touch was to this city. She was skeptical and who could blame her? An entire city fueled by hugging? That is simply not possible
ironic coming from a girl who's part cat and auras serve as a force field in her world. Maybe because she was just being stubborn, or she just wanted to see how much she could last without even shaking someone's hand. Whatever the reason, the cat faunus was out and about, slinking in the shadows. She couldn't quite sit still, more used to the fact Beacon kept their students busy with classes and the training needed to become full-fledged hunters and huntresses. For all she knew, she could go soft while marooned in this city, her skills would be wasted. She had been having some trouble getting her body to move like it used to. Blake had become... less graceful and stealthy as she would've like. The increasing dizziness and nausea didn't quite help either. This definitely showed when Blake attempted to jump off the roof to go to another building, only for her feet to slip off the ledge, causing her to fall. She would have made an unfortunate alliance with the ground if she hadn't used recoil from Gambol Shroud's gun, separating the blade from the sheath and whipping the ribbon to launch her weapon like a makeshift grappling hook. It thankfully caught the ledge she missed, and she swung herself to safety... only to lose her grip from her weapon and collapsed to the ground once she lost momentum.
Hey. At least she wasn't hurtling to her doom anymore. >w>
Blake grunted, trying to pick herself off the ground by holding on to the wall. She leans her head on the cool surface, giving her some reprieve from how sick she feels.]
Option 2!
At the moment she's also sipping at lukewarm cocoa, with another cup ready (and cooling) for later...Or at least, she was saving it for later. Up until a new person comes in, looking chilled; then M'gann stands, giving her a curious, and then slightly worried blink.
"You're looking cold," she observes first...Before cutting right to the chase and tugging the spare mug over with some telekinesis, as she approaches the newcomer. "Need a drink to warm up?" Well, a slightly tepid drink, but details!
4
it was almost embarrassing to watch, really, but adam had seen the whole thing. he had recently become trapped here as well, not liking how he felt like a simple caged animal, and the humans must have been loving that too. but to think, this place was... run by hugging? it wasn't what he wanted at all, and he would rather die than touch a human.
he still hated them.
but as he walked over to blake, he shook his head a little, his footsteps light.]
...You never miss. [so, what happened?]

Option 4
[Says someone perched atop a building, an ear flicking as she holds something akin to a maple branch in her right hand.]
That was quite the tumble you took there.
4
…apart from the part where she collapsed to the ground. That's bad.
So she's approaching, ears flicked back in concern, ready to reach for wand as needed.]
Are you well?
Saber ❄ Fate/Stay Night + GAME TRANSPLANT ❄ Option 3
Having discovered that she was slowly reverting back into a Heroic Spirit, Saber knew that eventually she was going to have to trust in someone enough to become a Master, else she may expire from this new world. Though it was hardly a necessary task to take care of, it was one that would lay dormant in her mind as things begin to return to her. First it was her insatiable appetite and the exhaustion that came with neglecting it, second it was the ability to feel the prana flowing through her.
Testing her limits today with her faithful Milotic, Saber walked to the edge of the ice that had formed atop the lake overnight. It isn't thick, but she's also a light girl without her armor. ]
If I fall, please be sure to assist me, Vivianne.
[ Calmly requesting her Pokemon to remain nearby, the Milotic dives into the chilled waters herself to enjoy a swim before Saber reaches to step out over the water.
Soooo anyone want to stop the crazy teenager girl from walking into water? ]

as a powered Servant once more, be would likely need to form a contract, even if his Independent Action ability would allow him to maintain himself for quite some time if he didn't exhaust himself. but right now the red knight was more focused on where his Luxray was taking him. that was, until they reached the lake's edge in kind, to the east of them the sight of a Milotic emerging from the water from time to time whilst a familiar woman was making her way out over the icy edge]
Saber...?

It doesn't matter where we go, does it?
[one way or another, he was always finding his way back to her. he doesn't call out for her just yet, content with observing her from the shore until she either noticed or possibly fell in. ...but he knew better. if he had his own status as a Heroic Spirit back, she too must have been going through the same thing]
... [a soft breath through his nose as his expression had decisively softened. the king who couldn't be reached, light and beautiful yet sound and tragic all at the same time. this had to be the same one that he'd resituated himself with. that Milotic was no coincidence. and patiently, Avalon sat by Archer's side as he watched with a cool, steel-toned gaze. she had found happiness within a life beyond the king, hadn't she? that's what he had initially seen. did she still share that same feeling? even here in this new world? still a world and a half apart from Hakuno and his duties himself... even as a Heroic Spirit, his humanity was taken away again from the time spent in Johto. was Archer happy still? one could tell by the hint of a smile on his face that much like his trek through Johto to the city of Goldenrod, whether he was happy or not he at least had one anchor that bound him. he was looking right at her. he didn't have to move again]
oh nooooo it's cute already

Hawk | Seiken Densetsu 3 + game transplant | 1 + 2
[Hawk is not exactly the biggest fan of snow- he's been in a desert most of his life, and then his experiences in the snow in his own world were of rather extreme temperatures (while fighting off monsters)- but this seems reasonable enough. More fun than dangerous, definitely.
So he scoops up one of the snowballs with a grin and targets the next person he sees. Are you ready for a fight?]
2.
[later on, of course, he's pretty much soaked through. He's laughing as he comes in, though, shaking himself off just inside the doorway. Hopefully no one was standing too close.
He ends up with a hot chocolate when he asks for a hot drink, and heads for the fireplace, nodding to whoever might be seated there already.]
Mind if I join you?
2
Someone speaking draws her out of her thoughts and she looks up at the source of the voice, revealing a hole in her temple where her hair parts that looks like a plug. Hawk has chosen a spot also occupied by a eight-foot-tall woman with tusks and horns. Also, robots. Little drones. One is floating in the air harmlessly on her other side, but the one with the prominent gun turret is on the side Hawk approached from. She sets her mug down to lift the drone and set it down on her other side.]

Fortuna (Player) | Shadowrun Returns: Dead Man's Switch | 3
There's one other problem. She's nearly eight feet tall, and while not fat, not exactly a beanstalk. Trolls are just plain heavy. There's no way it's safe for her to skate. Life may be a series of gambles but there's such a thing as impossible odds and she knows better than to challenge them. But that's fine. Because it doesn't have to be her body doing the skating.
Skaters may find themselves sharing the ice with a small six-wheeled, tank-shaped drone, about the size of a large housecat. Despite having a gun turret, it doesn't seem to be there for anything but skating, something beneath it digging into the ice for braking as it makes sharp turns and spins as if enjoying itself like anyone else.
Meanwhile, on the bank, a hulking eight-foot horned lady sits with something rectangular and flat, looking rather like a RC controller from the back but lacking anything resembling a joystick. Her scarf has slipped down so it's no longer covering her face, revealing she has small tusks. It doesn't seem to bother her. In fact, she's grinning absently, her eyes closed. A spherical drone with wings, hovering on four...fans(?) hovers over her shoulder. Oh, and that controller-looking thing? Is plugged directly into her head, where her hair parts.
She's obviously not totally out of it, however, since if anyone approaches her she looks up at them, the smile slipping.] ...What?

Julie Grigio || Warm Bodies || Option 3
Just Before. That's all that's relevant here. Before.
Now, at this moment, Julie Grigio is happily tying a pair of skates onto her feet, gloves in her lap for the time being. She's bundled up well enough, a black knit hat pulled on over her head, hair braided and hanging over a shoulder. The sweater she wears is thick enough, the scarf wrapped well around her neck to keep her warm and her socks are thick.
Her jacket is on a nearby bench. She may regret not having it on in a minute.
So come join her. She's friendly. And a bit bad at ice skating, so she may need help.]

Kaworu Nagisa | Neon Genesis Evangelion | (option 3)
his nose is even a little red from being out in the cold for so long, poor guy.
after a moment he speaks though it seems like he's just talking to himself, he is alone after all: ]
The seasonal shifts in this world are fascinating. There are no restrictions and everything changes according to its own plan. I wonder what would become of their world if the Lilin had something similar to this. What would you say, Shinji Ikari?
Santana Lopez | Glee | Option 2 and 4
The weather outside is awful, and she's not in the mood for snowball fights. She makes her way into one of the buildings, sighing when she sees how crowded it is. She just wants somewhere to sit down. And to not feel so sick.
She picks out a warm-looking spot and exhales at the person in it.] I need to sit down. Move over.
And give me a hug.
i had to. julie'd think santana, while snarky as hell, was a breath of fresh air.
Yeah, she didn't look like she felt that good and Julie wasn't about to leave her in that state. It's unfair and what if Julie was ever in that situation?
She makes room for Santana and then her arms go around her shoulders in a big but not too tight hug.]
How's that? I'm Julie, by the way.
