Welcome to the Rekindle Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. Then don't forget to go reserve your character in a week when they open. Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: Option 1 [While the days grow longer and warmer and the older, oriental-style of the city would normally make one think that the interiors would not be much in the way of relief from the hot sun, it may surprise the guest to see that the apartments the natives have allocated for them are surprisingly comfortable. In fact, the only modern convenience they may be missing is a television set! At least, outside the media floor on the first floor of Building One - the first of four inter-connected buildings. In fact, each apartment building seems to have at least one different amenity on the first floor. In Building Two they seemed to even spare a library in another that seems to have the basics and some information packets that are otherwise found in the Welcome Center in District 2. There are even a few restaurants and common dining areas in the Building Three that are open until late at night, and meeting areas and a ballroom on the first floor in Building Four, perfect for setting up small parties or big events. With the locals gone save those who work in the restaurants and the one librarian, leaving you to your own devices, what will you do? What mysteries could be left to discover in this place?] Option 2 [With summer coming, the water level in the river is starting to go down, exposing some of the beach. The Riverside Shack is open late, and its restaurant is pulling out all the stops and offering seafood specials (even though a river is a far cry from an ocean). The rental store, meanwhile, is finally bringing out more of its swimming supplies, inner tubes and pool noodles, and a calmer stretch of the river has been roped off with buoys for swimming. They even have lifeguards chairs set up. Clearly this sort of thing used to be an annual event. It's not quite an ocean beach (quite different actually), but there's still plenty of chance to have fun in the water. Or teach someone to swim, perhaps.] Option 3 [If you're more inclined to explore or learn, the City's Learning Center might be more to your tastes. There certainly seems to be a lot going on here - there's laboratories and libraries and workshops, and plenty of communal areas where you can meet and talk with people. The natives seem pretty absorbed with their studies and work, though they're polite in brushing you off, at least. Perhaps you'll have more luck seeing what other Guests such as yourself have discovered?] Option 4 [Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] Option 5 [If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.]

Mani heard the man approaching and quickly got to her feet, maybe she wasn't allowed everywhere after all, or maybe just not a night.

[Hilbert's just wondering though the inter-connected buildings, hands in pockets, serious look on his face. The teens more looking for someone than he is at what's on offer, but he seems to have settles for the media room now.] Huh. Most of this is outdated...

[By his standards anyway, but it looks about on par with what Sinnoh had. Well, as far as he knows, but he's not complaining to much. From hat he'seen of outside, the whole place looks like it's located somewhere in Sinnoh. Being in a new place doesn't so much bother him, it's just that he can normally find - at at least reach via X-transceiver - his twin, Cheren or Bianca.

So far, he's come up blank.

[Don't mind the teen with the giant green snake-thing lounging on the beach. He's given up, for now, looking for hi sister and friends. It's time to enjoy the beach.

His serperior, while mostly used to rest again is also soaking up the suns rays, giving the grasstype a healthier look than normal. Said snake might also be snoring.

[Mani backs away a step as the cat came over and started to rub himself against her leg, when he did nothing worse than that she couched down to get a better look at him. When she speaks she keeps her voice quiet.]

Hello.

[With a small smile Mani reaches to scratch the cat behind the ear if he will let her.]

[Pai thought that she could make it up to her apartment before paying her price, but evidently her judgement is off. Or maybe whatever causes the illness when you don't get physical contact has messed with her ability somehow.

Regardless, she only manages to make it to the lounge of her apartment building before collapsing into one of the chairs, fast asleep.]

[Mani had tried to back away but she hadn't understood what the yell had meant until it was too late and now she's just standing there looking at her sopping wet fur. Ew.]

[Mani didn't know what to make of Toul, she looked human but had a morph's ears. So which was she? Was she somehow both? And then the strange morph woman walked up to her and said hello, and the fox didn't know how to react.]

[ Sissel meows in response and moves over to rub the side of his head against Mieu's cheek. A quick check shows that this other... animal?... doesn't have a core to communicate with, but that's not a dealbreaker or anything.

Never seen an animal like you before. Too bad I can't ask what you are, huh? ]

[ Not only will Sissel let her, he'll even purr to give the encouragement. Scratches are awesome and attention is even better. Now that she's crouched down, he'll raise himself up by placing his forepaws on her knees and meow up toward her in a friendly manner. Even if she doesn't have a core to communicate with, that doesn't mean Sissel won't keep up an internal commentary.

[He takes in a startled breath through his teeth, but quickly composes himself. More or less. The notebook, however, hurriedly snaps shut in his hands.]

...It would explain why so many people here don't seem to care that their health is at risk. Not if their brains are addled.

[It isn't as if the same wasn't true for him; as soon as the two of them broke their contact, that little reprieve had suddenly vanished, leaving a little itch in Roxas's chest. He's gotten a little more used to it by now, but not nearly enough to ignore it. He's done with trying to do that anyway.]

Happens pretty fast, huh? [It sounds like she gets why she suddenly felt sick.] Did you not have contact with people for a few days? I thought I could handle it. It got pretty bad before I got some help.

[In comparison to some in her world--including a large population in her own country--Toul looks downright plain with the exception of her ears. But a girl who looks to be a Vulpinus just makes her want to introduce herself.]

Dr. Lecter is typically drawn to libraries, is known to be seen in libraries, looks as though he fits in a library, and meticulously keeps a library of his own (though the variety of it is somewhat limited). A medical practitioner of any kind, after all, must keep a good collection of resources and keep up to date on any breakthroughs that may have occurred. And there was more to learn about human bodies all the time.

He is enlightening himself on a few different subjects when his eyes caught a flash of yellow that... didn't end. This he found to be somewhat curious, and then suddenly there was the young woman attached to it with her face in a book and walking straight into him.

"I've always agreed that reading enriches the mind, but as a doctor I would not recommend movement when the mind is so occupied."

[once Ukraine has cried herself out for the moment in the safety of her apartment, she finds herself at a loss as to what to do. what exactly is there to do besides burst into tears again at the thought of all the people who need her that she's been taken away from?

as tempting as more crying is, she knows that tears won't get her anywhere. she should at least be making an attempt to get to know people (and distract herself from worrying) - and so she sets to work cooking, the repetitive motions of preparing food helping to calm her down a bit.

once she's finished making a mountain of dishes she carefully totes them down to one of the communal dining areas, lining them carefully on a table with a small note encouraging people to take whatever they like. that was a good way to start conversations, wasn't it?

Ukraine ladles herself a steaming bowl of borscht and seats herself down near the food, taking tiny sips in an attempt to keep herself from thinking about whether or not this was a silly idea. anyone who enters the dining area will find themselves looked at hopefully before she directs her gaze back to the soup with an embarrassed flush]

Even with little recovery from her touch, Roxas still feels uneasy. He blinks hard as she offers her hand. He's not a baby, and he certainly doesn't need his hand held. Maybe it was just a fluke.]

[Today had been exciting and yet also a bit exhausting, not that Toul feels particularly tired just yet. She hasn't gotten used to the strange way time works in this place, so it's late and she's still wide awake. She sees the girl sitting on the chair and worries a little that it might hurt her back to sleep in a such a place. Your own bed is always more comfortable.

She goes up to the girl and reaches out to nudge her shoulder softly.]

Ah--excuse me? I am truly sorry for bothering you but this can't be all that comfortable, can it?

Jack Frost | Rise of the Guardians | #4 because reasons

[ Jack doesn't expect the sudden wave of dizziness that overtakes him when he crosses the border into District 3. He doesn't expect the wind to abruptly falter and die out from under him, either. When the world stops spinning, he's on his back staring up at the sky. He puts a hand out to try and push himself into a sitting position, but everything spins out of control again and he only succeeds in rolling onto his side. ]

[ Well, this is awkward. For some reason his body's trying to figure out whether throwing up or going to sleep for a few hours is the best course of action. Oh, neither? Okay, let's just lay here and feel unreasonably shitty, because apparently this is a thing that's happening now, and he doesn't understand why - ]

[ Jack's face scrunches up at the sudden realization. Oh. Oh. This is what this city does, isn't it. They said not to go this way, and he did, and now look what's happened. Good job, Jack. ]

[ He feels around for his staff, finds it, and with some effort manages to get himself upright again using it for support. Sheer, stubborn force of will takes him back to the border between the districts, where he climbs a chain link fence, hauls himself over the top of it, and promptly falls flat on his face on the other side. ]

[ He expects the symptoms to go away once he behaves himself and goes back where he's supposed to be, but they don't. He just needs a minute, he thinks. Just gonna lay here and hope he stops feeling like an old dirty sock soon. Yep. ]

[Oh my God this is not happening today. She knew Souji had a lame sense of humor but usually he had better timing than this.]

"Ma'am?" Mani asked shyly. The fox only wore a metal collar around her neck and looked very awkward at being approached. Thankfully the expression faded to something a little less worried as Inara requested her assistance.

"Yes Ma'am." The fox agreed...and held out her hand out to shake. Hugs hadn't exactly been part of her training.
