Welcome to the Rekindle Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. Then don't forget to go reserve your character in a week when they open. Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: Option 1 [While the days grow longer and warmer and the older, oriental-style of the city would normally make one think that the interiors would not be much in the way of relief from the hot sun, it may surprise the guest to see that the apartments the natives have allocated for them are surprisingly comfortable. In fact, the only modern convenience they may be missing is a television set! At least, outside the media floor on the first floor of Building One - the first of four inter-connected buildings. In fact, each apartment building seems to have at least one different amenity on the first floor. In Building Two they seemed to even spare a library in another that seems to have the basics and some information packets that are otherwise found in the Welcome Center in District 2. There are even a few restaurants and common dining areas in the Building Three that are open until late at night, and meeting areas and a ballroom on the first floor in Building Four, perfect for setting up small parties or big events. With the locals gone save those who work in the restaurants and the one librarian, leaving you to your own devices, what will you do? What mysteries could be left to discover in this place?] Option 2 [With summer coming, the water level in the river is starting to go down, exposing some of the beach. The Riverside Shack is open late, and its restaurant is pulling out all the stops and offering seafood specials (even though a river is a far cry from an ocean). The rental store, meanwhile, is finally bringing out more of its swimming supplies, inner tubes and pool noodles, and a calmer stretch of the river has been roped off with buoys for swimming. They even have lifeguards chairs set up. Clearly this sort of thing used to be an annual event. It's not quite an ocean beach (quite different actually), but there's still plenty of chance to have fun in the water. Or teach someone to swim, perhaps.] Option 3 [If you're more inclined to explore or learn, the City's Learning Center might be more to your tastes. There certainly seems to be a lot going on here - there's laboratories and libraries and workshops, and plenty of communal areas where you can meet and talk with people. The natives seem pretty absorbed with their studies and work, though they're polite in brushing you off, at least. Perhaps you'll have more luck seeing what other Guests such as yourself have discovered?] Option 4 [Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] Option 5 [If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.]

[It was a rabbit. Or perhaps a hare? Either way, Alice had a rather bad habit of following them. So when Alice saw the animal heading about, she had to follow. One simply didn't not follow a creature with rabbit ears. So when she the man sit down, she was inclined to come close. Except, she hadn't noticed his legs, too focused on his ears.

And with a loud exclamation, Alice found herself tripping over the man's legs.]

[ Jack tilted his head and frowned, looking momentarily sad at the rebuff. ]

Of course I'm surprised, but you're still Vincent, aren't you? You look just like you did as a child...

Heck yeah it would. This place is beautiful, I'd love to get a better look.

Sweet! Wait-- float?

[Other cities, this could be interesting. Was it really so easy to travel between them? Torture and murder, hm? This girl had certainly been witness to much misfortune.]

Ah, it would be a shame if that were to continue here. I find it better when humans are alive.

[Because they obviously can't continue being miserable, afraid, and unfortunate when they're dead. What a waste.]

[he smiles awkwardly, pulling the box of saltines out of the basket.]

It's not --... It's not a matter of creativity, these... These just aren't necessary. That's all.

[as he tucks it under his arm to reshelve, Kaworu poses his question about the apples. Shinji looks at both and tilts his head.]

Mmm. The right one looks more fresh. See how the skin is tighter?

[Yeah, that woman he just grabbed? There's his first mistake. And he'll probably know something's up once he realizes her arm feels just plain wrong. Not flesh, and definitely not covered in any kind of fabric, but...wrong]

...you're going to want to let go. Now.

[There's no "please" from this one, either. But there is one heck of a threatening tone being taken. And glaring, plenty of angry glaring.]

[She follows along quite contently, his long legs making her have to skip a little to keep up.]

But you are older than me, sir. It would be impolite.

I see. [The choice apple, then, is bounced upon Kaworu's palm, and then placed carefully - though decisively - into the basket. The rejected apple is set back with its kin. Really, though, in this, at least, he deserves some slack... fresh produce is so wat]

I haven't been very helpful here, but I think I'll learn. I'll watch you cook, too. [Apparently SEELE never offered Kaworu so much as a copy of Cooking Mama.]

[Oh look, someone daring to approach his short and brattiness. And she seems to be doing...uh, not remarkably well. Somebody else was suffering from certain symptoms related to a decided lack of physical contact, and she was probably every bit as thrilled at the idea of doing what was necessary to alleviate them.

Difference was, while most would break out in a sweat, being a liquid, she was basically sweating herself. And having difficulty keeping certain features fully formed, to say nothing of her human form. No surprise she wasn't paying attention to where she was going, or if there were any spoiled magical brats in the way.]

[Viki hadn't expected to bump into someone just now (who ever expects to bump into people?) and found herself stumbling...forwards, into whoever bumped her. Oops?]

[There's a definite flicker of shock and hurt across her face, though she quickly pushes it aside.]

N-no. [she laughs a little painfully] Easy mistake, though.

[He looks good at all. She remembers that she herself hadn't really been in her right mind that one time she'd been really sick. Maybe it was like that now?]

[He wouldn't have given the woman a second glance, except his temper was even worse than usual. And so, the closer she got to him, the higher his eyebrow rose and the weaker his already miniscule inner censor became.]

[ steady, steadier, and he risks another step back in, like a man sinking into clear waters. ]

Oh, don't worry. If it's anything like those places, they'll keep on bringing us back for more punishment after we die. And they're not gonna make an exception for you just because you enjoy it too, y'know.

Yeah, it is.

[She glances over at him in puzzlement, the confusion only increasing as he asks her that question.

Wait. The memories that aren't hers. The series of awkward conversations she'd had with Riku... Xion seems to stiffen, looking over at him. ... it was as likely as anything else. If he didn't know her at all... She'd never got to meet him.]

Xion. And.... who are you?

[Shinji looks away as he gently places the wrapped meat into Kaworu's basket, all too aware of how closly he has to draw towards him to do so.]

... I'm not even very good. I just know how not to burn the house down.

[he looks up at him nervously.] ......We still need bananas.

I've only ever been to the beach once before, but that was when I was younger so I don't remember it very well. [Why she's saying "younger" is a mystery since she's all of seven.] I've seen the river plenty of times, however. It's one of my favorite places, there's a giant meadow of flowers near it.

Oh but, this looks like a lovely place too. We could explore it together! Things are much more exciting when you can speak with someone about something. I've seen lots of places but was alone so I had to have myself for conversation, and it's very hard to see something someone else might notice when yourself is your only company.

If they did, they were smart enough to do it while I couldn't hear them.

[He looks young, so when it was between this and "violently lash out," being angrily dismissive won.]

I look forward to it, [Kaworu says, quite genuine, and gives Shinji one of those long looks, at their proximity. The look isn't demanding, or inquisitive, or even really appraising - it's just seeing for the sake of seeing, as ever.]

Will you show me how to pick those as well?

[If she was pulled from earlier, she might have commented on that. And what did he mean by that last line?]

[As if something needed to break the awkwardness between the two, the river kind of made a little splash. Well, enough to get her all wet.]

"Proper warnings?" Lee repeated in mild confusion.

Hester, the rangy hare that hopped up behind him, explained: "Them warnings about keepin' up the touch. This feller's in withdrawal. If he ain't drunk, anyhow."

"Pretty sure he ain't drunk, it's to early for that," Lee countered, and led Javert towards the nearest bench to let him sit, keeping an arm around him while en route. "There now. No apologies needed."

Been a long time since I seen a circus. What'd you say you did there?

[He squints curiously at the boy, trying to imagine what a "second ship fighter" did. He remembers the name, sure, but he can't match it up with any carnival acts he remembers.]

[Tidus doesn't hesitate at all. He figured she might not believe it-- and honestly, he doesn't either. He thought this was another weird dream of the fayth, maybe, a lonely but otherwise nice world with its own problems to make him forget--

-- but that's not how it works.

He grins a bit, barely able to contain his heartbeat in his chest, and pulls Yuna into his arms. He's real, and so is she. His tight hug proves it.

He kicks his legs a little to keep them afloat.]
