Welcome to the Rekindle Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. Then don't forget to go reserve your character in a week when they open. Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: Option 1 [While the days grow longer and warmer and the older, oriental-style of the city would normally make one think that the interiors would not be much in the way of relief from the hot sun, it may surprise the guest to see that the apartments the natives have allocated for them are surprisingly comfortable. In fact, the only modern convenience they may be missing is a television set! At least, outside the media floor on the first floor of Building One - the first of four inter-connected buildings. In fact, each apartment building seems to have at least one different amenity on the first floor. In Building Two they seemed to even spare a library in another that seems to have the basics and some information packets that are otherwise found in the Welcome Center in District 2. There are even a few restaurants and common dining areas in the Building Three that are open until late at night, and meeting areas and a ballroom on the first floor in Building Four, perfect for setting up small parties or big events. With the locals gone save those who work in the restaurants and the one librarian, leaving you to your own devices, what will you do? What mysteries could be left to discover in this place?] Option 2 [With summer coming, the water level in the river is starting to go down, exposing some of the beach. The Riverside Shack is open late, and its restaurant is pulling out all the stops and offering seafood specials (even though a river is a far cry from an ocean). The rental store, meanwhile, is finally bringing out more of its swimming supplies, inner tubes and pool noodles, and a calmer stretch of the river has been roped off with buoys for swimming. They even have lifeguards chairs set up. Clearly this sort of thing used to be an annual event. It's not quite an ocean beach (quite different actually), but there's still plenty of chance to have fun in the water. Or teach someone to swim, perhaps.] Option 3 [If you're more inclined to explore or learn, the City's Learning Center might be more to your tastes. There certainly seems to be a lot going on here - there's laboratories and libraries and workshops, and plenty of communal areas where you can meet and talk with people. The natives seem pretty absorbed with their studies and work, though they're polite in brushing you off, at least. Perhaps you'll have more luck seeing what other Guests such as yourself have discovered?] Option 4 [Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] Option 5 [If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.]

He was right but the tower was different. The administrators played god there. It had been so much easier to deal with this there. It was the norm there and others had endured more than he had, understood what could and would happen.

[He eyes her once up and down. Not in a lecherous way, but in a knowing way. The evidence was strong enough that even he could pick up on the fact that there was more to her than face-value.]

Of course something's wrong. Think if you pick enough fights, you'll get some answers? Because that's always been my favorite method.

Yes, I believe so. I am glad that you weren't bothered, but others may not have felt the same. [ she's a rather reserved person by nature, both physically and emotionally, and while social graces aren't her be all and end all, she does see them as positive contributors to human interaction and usually abides by them. ]

[ What a foolish question. Clearly she isn't alright and the boat is to blame. She will not dignify foolish questions asked by foolish fools with foolish hairstyles(? That is hair, right?) with a perfectly reasonable response.

She gives him one long and scrutinizing look. He's kind of scrawny and not at all intimidating, except for that hair(?) which was slightly intimidating. She doesn't believe that he could help her out at all, but better him injuring himself . She steps away from the boat. ]

You. [ cocky head tilt ] Push my boat.

[He withers a little under her gaze. During the course of it, he feels a strange urge to protect his lovingly crafted antennae.]

...What? [Looks between her and the boat.] Um. ...I guess I'd be happy to help, Miss.

[He's not really sure what she'd do if he refused, so... Experience tells him doing people favors will help him avoid any sort of mishaps. He attempts to push the boat towards the water and finds himself having difficulty putting any sort of energy into his actions.]

Thranduil felt sick. When he spoke, his voice was very quiet. "A day may seem longer than a year, if the day is one of hardship and the year is spent merry in the company of friends and kinsmen.

"Take comfort in that you are no longer there."

He could not, would not, berate him for admitting to fear - was he not the same? It was still all too easy to conjure up the black fields of Mordor.

<sub>[To Ruca Milda physical contact was awkward most of the time. He could not imagine himself walking up to someone and hugging them even if they were a friend. That would be too embarrassing! Not to mention that talking to people itself wasn't easy to him and actually making friends with newly met people was even harder to do. After all, he was only an introverted timid bookworm.

It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that after a while Ruca was beginning to be affected by the illness. Even though he was well aware of it he couldn't bring himself to ask anyone for help.

[At least it's an improvement. Now she knows to think twice before trying to touch him out of annoyance or a joke. That and she still felt bad about her behavior after learning the truth.]

Legolas had experienced many a day that felt longer than a year though most had begun to bleed together, some details remained clear as crystal and others faded. The worst of them were the clearest, much as he wished to forget.

"I am but one though. Gandalf, Haldir and others from Middle Earth remain."

People that he often suffered more for if only so they wouldn't. So that other people would be safer and maybe have a chance at seeing their homes in one piece again.

[Sera only rubs at his eyes at first. He can't deal with an argument right now...]

But there's another one just over... uh. [He's looking up by now, staring at that whip in confusion - is that real? Is he in trouble, are there some rules about benches nobody told him about?] I mean - sure!

[Needless to say he's fast to sit up, and he scoots well against on side to leave as much space as possible.]

Ethan was beginning to close his eyes and almost finally doze off as he settled with laying beside his now-sunbathing Typlosion beside him. But his eyes were quick to snap open when he heard a voice. Of course Ethan had enough manners to acknowledge the newcomer and not ignore her. His mother taught him better, growing up, after all.

He puts on his usual easy-going smile as he answers her question.

"Yup. He is! You know about Pokemon, I take it?"

A shame that the boy might be sadly mistaken... But after finding no other pokemon trainers, here, at all, so far, he still wanted to be hopeful.

[ He fails to push the boat and she sneers. She could have pointed, and said something along the lines of "Hah! Look at that fool pushing the boat!" but she's classier than that. ]

[ But not too classy to taunt a helpful stranger. ]

"I'm special like that." She is a prototype of a unique model, after all. "I'm also not evil." Like a lot of demons in her world, really.

It is nice to hear some reassurance. While mostly silent as she speaks, he offers a small smile soon enough once she's done.

"They're real where I'm from. This one's Pikachu." At that it climbs up in a swift dash to his shoulder, an repeats its name in greeting. "And yes, I think I could use the help. It's been a while since I've seen a new city."

She has to shake her head, sadly. "I've heard the name for the first time today, actually. But I like cute creatures, and your Pokemon is really cute! Does he have a name?"

[With a few last grunts of exertion, he finds himself sweating. He's about ready to flip the boat upside down - if only he could - when he looks up at her sneering at him.]

What does it look like? You could help, you know.

[He's surprised to hear someone recognizes it enough to name it, and comes to a full stop at the voice behind him. For a moment he stares just as much at Hilbert does. Is this a trainer...?

It actually stirs up a little excitement in Red, enough to make his fingers twitch at his pocket, and his other hand to raise to pull the bill of his cap further down to shield his eyes.]

... Yes.

[He gives a nod, that's for both questions. And he wants to see, too, in a way. What'll this kid do...?]
