Welcome to the Rekindle Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. Then don't forget to go reserve your character in a week when they open. Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: Option 1 [While the days grow longer and warmer and the older, oriental-style of the city would normally make one think that the interiors would not be much in the way of relief from the hot sun, it may surprise the guest to see that the apartments the natives have allocated for them are surprisingly comfortable. In fact, the only modern convenience they may be missing is a television set! At least, outside the media floor on the first floor of Building One - the first of four inter-connected buildings. In fact, each apartment building seems to have at least one different amenity on the first floor. In Building Two they seemed to even spare a library in another that seems to have the basics and some information packets that are otherwise found in the Welcome Center in District 2. There are even a few restaurants and common dining areas in the Building Three that are open until late at night, and meeting areas and a ballroom on the first floor in Building Four, perfect for setting up small parties or big events. With the locals gone save those who work in the restaurants and the one librarian, leaving you to your own devices, what will you do? What mysteries could be left to discover in this place?] Option 2 [With summer coming, the water level in the river is starting to go down, exposing some of the beach. The Riverside Shack is open late, and its restaurant is pulling out all the stops and offering seafood specials (even though a river is a far cry from an ocean). The rental store, meanwhile, is finally bringing out more of its swimming supplies, inner tubes and pool noodles, and a calmer stretch of the river has been roped off with buoys for swimming. They even have lifeguards chairs set up. Clearly this sort of thing used to be an annual event. It's not quite an ocean beach (quite different actually), but there's still plenty of chance to have fun in the water. Or teach someone to swim, perhaps.] Option 3 [If you're more inclined to explore or learn, the City's Learning Center might be more to your tastes. There certainly seems to be a lot going on here - there's laboratories and libraries and workshops, and plenty of communal areas where you can meet and talk with people. The natives seem pretty absorbed with their studies and work, though they're polite in brushing you off, at least. Perhaps you'll have more luck seeing what other Guests such as yourself have discovered?] Option 4 [Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] Option 5 [If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.]

Kid looked up from his book, somewhat amused. "I wasn't aware that was a rule."

He glanced about Soul, checking over the Weapon's skin for any sunburn. Soul was a human, after all, and humans got sunburned.

[ A small and feigned sigh of disappointment. Who is she kidding? She's having fun with this. ]

Very well. [ Standing beside him, she fixes her gloves before wagging her finger. ]

Would it be worse than if they had planned it with malicious intent?

I dunno, I think I'd rather be dealing with that than someone who decided to kidnap a bunch of people and murder them over and over again just because there was nothing good on TV one night.

So you would rather deal with someone actively trying to kill you. Intriguing.

[Mani nodded.]

I'll help look. [Mani looks thoughtful for a moment before looking over her shoulder.] I saw a tree not far from here maybe we'll find one there?

Probably because I'm not a lamb.

[That's the first time he's been compared to one, though, and he's somewhere between confused and amused. He smiles at Fergus anyway, though, and though there's pretty much no way he could help support someone that big, he positions himself at the king's right side for that purpose, just in case.]

They were definitely talking around each other a little, so Pippin gave up wondering what he meant, and finished with the candy while chattering about... whatever, really.

"Well, ice cream wouldn't have been so easy to drop, either." Lucky for both of them, he'd discovered ice cream by this point. "Since it kind of sticks to itself, and it doesn't really bounce exactly, the way these little candies do. So then I probably wouldn't be having to pick it up, to begin with. I'm Pippin, by the way."

Legolas?

[Uh oh. Pippin doesn't like the way this is going. He looks around quickly for some sort of protection from sudden-dunking-syndrome, grabs the nearest inner tube, and holds on tight.]

Lee noticed that pretty quickly, and squints at it in mild confusion. That particular trick hadn't come into style yet-- if it would at all-- in his version of Earth. So while he might get the joke with a minute of thinking about it, at the moment he didn't get it at all.

And for once, neither did Hester. She was just as confused as he was.

So he asked: "What're y'doin' there with yer fingers?"

"Okay sir um, Miles. I'm Mani. It's nice to meet you."

Mani took Miles offered hand, a look of confusion crossing her face as her headache started to fade.

"I guess the touching rule is important." Mani said in surprise, before she looked down at her hand as if expecting something to happen.

Fight them?

[Diarmuid tilts his head curiously at the boy again.]

Fighting them tends to just make them mad, you know. Usually, if you respect them or leave them be when possible it is for the best. They are living creatures too, after all!

[Even though he has seen how different this world is from the one he knows, Diarmuid doesn't seem to understand just how completely things have changed. Either that or he is naive enough to think some things just never change.]

Why can't doing the right thing also be fun? You don't know that because you try to do it all alone! When you have friends and family all around you then even when things go wrong someone will be there to help you set them right! And just because they are there helping you, doesn't mean you can't do things yourself. Just look at the Fianna! They are all heroes individually, but together they are even stronger! They are family who never let each other down.

Father says I'll get to join them someday. I can't wait!

Takuma shook his head. "Not at all! It just makes things more interesting. If you were completely sane then you'd be a dull person, but you don't seem that way to me." he stated.

The blond noble held out his hand for her to take. "Being lost with someone feels more like an adventure than mindless wandering. I'm Takuma Ichijou. It's nice to meet you"

[Though he's rolling his eyes, he takes her advice. The boat begins its slow, slow journey towards the river.]

H-Hey! It's moving! [As he strains to move forward, he gives her a sideways glance.] What are planning to do with this, anyway?

You have a place to stay? [ Somehow, he finds this hard to believe... ]

[ A child? Who let a child in here? Other than a lot of people because that's allowed, but that's beside the point. She figures with that simple getup of his and their close proximity to the boat rentals stall that he's the son of the man who handles it. ]

Yes. Go find your daddy and tell him that his boat is broken.

[Kerry is silent for a moment at the mention of his father.]

I don't have a dad. [Not that he dwells on the subject. He glances back toward the rental stall, assuming she must have gotten the boat there, based on what she said. Having lived on an island, he knows something about boats.] They should've helped you bring it out here. That's their job.

[If they don't do that, then they're ripping people off. How's she supposed to get the boat down to the water by herself?]

We all will, sooner rather than later. It's something I need to get used to, on both sides.

[She shifts a little closer, sitting next to the boy with their arms touching; she blushes faintly at Roxas' second comment.]

Yeah. I'm missing then a little. A-and I just mean the girls I'm close to. Not children, I'm way too young for that. [And can't have any by her partners back home, but that's a whole other story.]

I can see that. [ The bitterness in her tone is unmistakable. She pushed with her knees from the start and the boat didn't move one bit. This man wasn't even pushing right at first!

She looks away. ]

I was planning to let that foolish thing drift peacefully down the river and towards the ocean, or let it fall foolishly down a waterfall because that's what foolish boats deserve.

I guess not. It's just easier to fight back against bad guys who put some effort into it.

[Hina could easily go into the 'who/what defines good and evil' debate, but there's really no point in it.]

You sound like you speak from experience.

Like I said, two other crazy murder towns.

Oh. [ Well, this is awkward. Fathers are also not a topic that she would enjoy talking about further. ]

Well, go tell those fools who are not your father what you just said.

[ So that they might tell him that she was a mean snob who left before they could offer to do so. ]
