Welcome to the Rekindle Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. Then don't forget to go reserve your character in a week when they open. Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: Option 1 [While the days grow longer and warmer and the older, oriental-style of the city would normally make one think that the interiors would not be much in the way of relief from the hot sun, it may surprise the guest to see that the apartments the natives have allocated for them are surprisingly comfortable. In fact, the only modern convenience they may be missing is a television set! At least, outside the media floor on the first floor of Building One - the first of four inter-connected buildings. In fact, each apartment building seems to have at least one different amenity on the first floor. In Building Two they seemed to even spare a library in another that seems to have the basics and some information packets that are otherwise found in the Welcome Center in District 2. There are even a few restaurants and common dining areas in the Building Three that are open until late at night, and meeting areas and a ballroom on the first floor in Building Four, perfect for setting up small parties or big events. With the locals gone save those who work in the restaurants and the one librarian, leaving you to your own devices, what will you do? What mysteries could be left to discover in this place?] Option 2 [With summer coming, the water level in the river is starting to go down, exposing some of the beach. The Riverside Shack is open late, and its restaurant is pulling out all the stops and offering seafood specials (even though a river is a far cry from an ocean). The rental store, meanwhile, is finally bringing out more of its swimming supplies, inner tubes and pool noodles, and a calmer stretch of the river has been roped off with buoys for swimming. They even have lifeguards chairs set up. Clearly this sort of thing used to be an annual event. It's not quite an ocean beach (quite different actually), but there's still plenty of chance to have fun in the water. Or teach someone to swim, perhaps.] Option 3 [If you're more inclined to explore or learn, the City's Learning Center might be more to your tastes. There certainly seems to be a lot going on here - there's laboratories and libraries and workshops, and plenty of communal areas where you can meet and talk with people. The natives seem pretty absorbed with their studies and work, though they're polite in brushing you off, at least. Perhaps you'll have more luck seeing what other Guests such as yourself have discovered?] Option 4 [Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] Option 5 [If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.]

How many? [He really... does not want to be vague with her, he can tell it'll only be trouble.] Ah... five.

[That's usually a good starting point for negotiation, right? Plenty of time to get just enough strength to slowly gun it to the next bench, too....]

It'll take more than that look to curb Collector's enthusiasm. In fact, he looks even happier now than earlier.

"Me? I'm made of clay and strong human emotions! I think in a way, we're alike! People call me the Collector Manikin. What do people call you?"

"Yes." Mani said. "I'm okay on my own."

"You mean supernatural abilities?" Mani asked, confused. She didn't know what to do, Sunna told her that not all humans were as nice as Art and unlike the fennec she had no way to tell if Miles was one of the nice ones or not.

"Yes. Mediums, sensitives, whatever they might go by, if they even exist in your world."

He could only shrug, however. "Just give it consideration."

He was going to keep an eye in her regardless.

Magic. Right. [ She grumbles a little at that. Magic is really not her wheelhouse. ]

Well, that explains that, at least. It's nice to meet you.

[It's enough to make him jump, anyway! Pippin yelps and tries to spin around to face his "attacker", but winds up just falling backwards into the water instead, which is pretty much over his head like that. That results in floundering back into what counts as shallows for him, where there's no way Legolas can swim undetected because there's just not enough water.

Shallows for someone only three and a half feet high is pretty shallow indeed.

Then he shakes his fist at Legolas, though he's grinning, too.]

That wasn't making sure I didn't drown, you elf!

"I... I don't know what they are." Mani said hoping Miles would explain but not willing to actually ask.

"But I'm not supernatural." She explained.

[And enjoy himself the entire time, Guy bets.]

[There isn't much point in downplaying the whole thing when he's so obviously been caught. Not that he won't try to redirect the conversation a little. Guy turns to face the Malkuth colonel.]

Jade. What brings you here?

"Well," He adjusted his glasses again out of habit, "Anyone with a sense beyond the normal five would be considered having a supernatural ability. Premonitions, telekinesis, communication with spirits, psychics, among other things. All of this falls under IOPSA's jurisdiction to monitor."

"As for myself, I am a Guide, someone who primarily works with extremely talented mediums to keep them from either hurting themselves if they push the limits of their abilities or others if they abuse said abilities." He glanced to Mani, seeing if she wanted to ask anymore questions.

[Nephrite chuckled wholeheartedly as he let her stew on that, the flying sunblock caught in his hand by reflex.]

Thanks. I needed some of that, actually.

[To add salt to the wound perhaps he spread a little on his forearms, and then tossed it back if a bit more gently than she had first thrown it.]

Heh. You don't say? Well, with an attitude like that like I said you won't find one soon.

Haa... I lived on a warship. I fought people, to keep the people important to me safe. I think you can understand why I don't really mind the living conditions here. So long as I don't have to put myself on the line again. I almost didn't make it last time.

Mani tilts her head to the side like a confused dog that almost sounds like...

"So, your a handler? Only for supernatural people instead of morphs?"

[What can she say, deserts just call to her for some reason.]

[She nod at his question, and this time it's her turn to feel impatient as she waits for him to remove the image for her. She watches him work, though she isn't at the best angle to do so. She wonders where he got that penknife. Maybe she would like one, too.]

[That there's another presence similar to her own nearby goes right over Assassin's head — because she doesn't know what her own is, devoid of her memories as a Servant as she is. Still, maybe she feels... Something, because she glances away from the water when Saber scans the area. Her expression doesn't shift as she peers at him through her dark hair.]

He didn't look too amused by the comparison, betrayed by the arch of his brow. He decided to play it off in a joking manner, even though that sense of humor was difficult to pick up on. "That's one way of putting it. Except we don't collar the mediums, even if some of them could use it."

[She isn't sure what to do at a response like that. She remains where she is and stares at him where he has landed on the floor. Just when she is considering stepping closer and attempting to forcibly pull his hand away from his face, he peeks up at her.]

[Again, she makes no move toward him as he picks himself, offering no assistance. At his apology and question, she merely shakes her head, silently and without much emotion.]

Mani stands a little straighter at that almost taking Miles comment as an affront.

"Art has never had to use my collar."

[He throws his hands behind his head and stands in a casual position.]

All right. Ya sure you're up for it though?

[Maybe it would take her mind off of whatever was distressing her.]

We could also do a bit of information gatherin' while we're at it.

[Guy's initial thought is naturally: "Luke". He's spent seven years raising him, after all. He'd know him anywhere, no matter what crazy getup he's wearing.]

[The door closes behind him and Guy makes a beeline for the redhead. Maybe he picked the weapon up in Daath. Maybe he's taking the initiative and getting to learn more about the place. Even with such easy excuses, something about the combination of all these minute, contradictory details gradually begins to register.]

[Guy's footsteps slow, but this sort of thinking doesn't distract him entirely from his course, and he won't stop until "Luke" is well within arm's reach.]

Can't say I ever expected to find you in here. So, what're you looking for? [He'll even reach out a hand with the intention of clapping the idiot on the shoulder in a friendly way.]

Oh nothing. Just a bit of information gathering. We are in a completely different world after all. And just when I was starting to master our own.

And yourself? You're looking a bit under the weather. Are you sure you should be moving around?

[Somehow those words don't sound sincere at all, though they're usually meant to be by normal people standards.]

[She pulls away from the corner, giving the plant one last backwards glance. At least she still has her Innocence fixed to her shoulder, so she's not completely worthless.]
