Welcome to the Rekindle Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. Then don't forget to go reserve your character in a week when they open. Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: Option 1 [While the days grow longer and warmer and the older, oriental-style of the city would normally make one think that the interiors would not be much in the way of relief from the hot sun, it may surprise the guest to see that the apartments the natives have allocated for them are surprisingly comfortable. In fact, the only modern convenience they may be missing is a television set! At least, outside the media floor on the first floor of Building One - the first of four inter-connected buildings. In fact, each apartment building seems to have at least one different amenity on the first floor. In Building Two they seemed to even spare a library in another that seems to have the basics and some information packets that are otherwise found in the Welcome Center in District 2. There are even a few restaurants and common dining areas in the Building Three that are open until late at night, and meeting areas and a ballroom on the first floor in Building Four, perfect for setting up small parties or big events. With the locals gone save those who work in the restaurants and the one librarian, leaving you to your own devices, what will you do? What mysteries could be left to discover in this place?] Option 2 [With summer coming, the water level in the river is starting to go down, exposing some of the beach. The Riverside Shack is open late, and its restaurant is pulling out all the stops and offering seafood specials (even though a river is a far cry from an ocean). The rental store, meanwhile, is finally bringing out more of its swimming supplies, inner tubes and pool noodles, and a calmer stretch of the river has been roped off with buoys for swimming. They even have lifeguards chairs set up. Clearly this sort of thing used to be an annual event. It's not quite an ocean beach (quite different actually), but there's still plenty of chance to have fun in the water. Or teach someone to swim, perhaps.] Option 3 [If you're more inclined to explore or learn, the City's Learning Center might be more to your tastes. There certainly seems to be a lot going on here - there's laboratories and libraries and workshops, and plenty of communal areas where you can meet and talk with people. The natives seem pretty absorbed with their studies and work, though they're polite in brushing you off, at least. Perhaps you'll have more luck seeing what other Guests such as yourself have discovered?] Option 4 [Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] Option 5 [If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.]

[ It was that simple. Don't talk about it, don't think about it, don't stress over things he can't control. But there's still the thought that he could have done more, and maybe that will never go away.

Gale forced himself to relax. That she'd offered strawberries was hardly a surprise, and if he thought about it... yeah, he was actually a little hungry. When was the last time he'd eaten? ]

[She pops up into a standing position, staring over at the odd looking human. At least, she's pretty sure that's a human. Though his face seemed a bit familiar.]

Wait, I don't think I know you~ but you seem furmiliar.

[And he knew her name, at that. Maybe she should see if his voice sounds familiar as well.

And that particular cat pun was pushing it, she figured.]

[Oh no, he's sick! Flora figures it's a good thing she found him. She'll just be rushing over to stand beside him.]

Luke, what's wrong? You look like you're sick! Do you need me to help you to the hospital?

[Where is the hospital in this place, anyway?]

[It takes only a moment for Pai to realize Oh. He thinks I'm homeless. She makes herself laugh.]

If it's cold, I'm going home. [But it's useful to know safe places to hide & sleep if she has to make a kill.]

You know a lot about sleeping outside. You must do it a lot.

[There's a redhead that notices the stare and is faintly curious. For a long moment she just watches the girl in return, waiting to see what she does. But after a while, she sighs, smiles, and carefully starts in her direction.]

"Yotsuba Alice. Pleased to make your acquaintance. I admit I am a little out of my element in a place like this, but I will do my best."

Not that she'd meant to spout Mana's endless pink wisdom, but it fit, and the young man seemed reasonable enough. Besides, it's not like Mana was here. Alice's mental image of the girl would have to suffice.

"Do you have any ideas on how to begin, Narukami-san?"

[ just hearing him speak gave her comfort, focusing on what he was saying. that realization setting in ]

I'm happy to hear that you could find peace, master... [ concern again... even if she tried to brush it off it was still present ]

[He doesn't know how, and maybe he can't. He feels helpless, just like he did on that day, seeing her suffering and not being able to do anything.]

We're here, and we're-- [He wants to say alive, but he doesn't. He doesn't know if she is alive.] --talking. [Though he's tensed and ready to run from her if he has to.] That's good, isn't it?

[At her question, he pictures again the tall figure in the long, dark coat.]

I was lucky. Someone saved me.

[ no jack, no jack. she's not gazing into your--okay, she might have pulled away if he weren't being so terrible. her dress was feeling a little loose. or was she imagining it? it really should be odd that jack, of all people, was making these comments ]

I--why does it have to be this way? [ that hesitation as she'd turned away. jack would be the quickest way to go, but it's jack. frustrating ]

I suppose.. If you would need assistance... [ no, she can't do it, she can't outright say such a thing to him ] You may come home with me.

Kili sat at the edge of the river bed, as he palmed a pebble in his hand, before throwing it into the water. Where was everyone else? He had heard rumours of the people who dwelled here. There was something about this place that made Kili uneasy. Was it the way people looked at him, as he sat on the river's edge, or something else?

Then, he spotted the elf king. Or, was it him? Perhaps, some illusion created by this world to think he was there. He stood up and kicked at a nearby pebble into the calm water. How could he address the king without bringing up awkwardness? It was bound to happen. He frowned as he stepped closer towards the elf king.

"Greetings, elf king. Kili, at your service." He bowed politely. His eyes fixed upon the elf's ones, as he awaited a response.

Kili wanted to spend some time at the river's edge. He felt at peace with the water rippling around his aching feet. It felt nice to actually pull off his furry boots and give his feet a nice soak. The water was not that cold as he looked up at the sky. Where was he and why was he here? Those questions rolled around in his head as he looked around. Would Fili or Thorin find him here?

He picked up a pebble from the muddy bank and tossed it into the water. His eyes stared at the ripples for a moment before glancing around. These people seemed.....friendly. Perhaps, overly so. Why did he notice people giving hugs and handshakes in the street?

Perhaps, it was the custom here. He looked at the water again and felt like stripping off to have a swim. Something about the place was making Kili decline such thoughts. He wanted to feel safe and right now, he was confused and lonely.

Kili wasn't actually looking around as he sunk into the cool pool himself. It had been far too long since he had a decent soak in a stream or pool. All the constant running and walking had made his feet ache for some release.

The water was nice and cold around his aching feet. A sharp pain shot up his back as he felt the true temperature of the water bite him. So, it wasn't quite as warm as he expected. His whole body immersed into the water, he looked around.

What he saw next made him swallow sharply. An elf? What was he doing here? Kili didn't want to draw attention as he just stared at the bathing elf in silence.]

Kevin held his arms to his chest, wrapping them around himself even as they twisted and morphed into any range of frightening items in any arsenal. Despite his pain and predicament, he managed a smirk as the blond stranger approached.

"A pinch, a stab, maybe even a smash or two," He said with a humorless chuckle. "I got a whole range of services to offer."

[it isn't that Sasuke can't pity, it's more that he doesn't have the patience for it. pity was a waste of energy, and he wouldn't expend it, particularly when he also hated having it directed at himself.

[Legolas laughs, watching Pippin from where he was treading water. Just what was the hobbit up to now? Surely he hadn't given up that easily, he knew that hobbits could be quite brave and clever.]

[Legolas tilted his head back to soak his hair, shorter than the average elf would let it be cut, and then let himself float on his back. He heard someone entering the water but didn't look, not yet. Whoever they were, they weren't a problem for him until they drew closer.

He just wanted to relax and be away from people, clear his mind. To try to forget this place and the tower and imagine that he's home again. A task seeming impossible with the collar on his neck to remind him.]

Kili didn't know what to say, as he waded a bit closer towards the elf. He looked unperturbed, as the dwarf prince pushed back some wet hair from his face. Was he here to bathe just like Kili?

He made his way forwards and then stopped.]

Or are you always covered in a layer of sweat? I guess you could just have a weird gland problem and I stopped for nothing.

[There's a coldness in Kerry's voice as he says this, accompanied by a swelling of guilt and regret. Kerry misses him, and it's his fault, but his father had to die.]
