Welcome to the Rekindle Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. Then don't forget to go reserve your character in a week when they open. Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: Option 1 [While the days grow longer and warmer and the older, oriental-style of the city would normally make one think that the interiors would not be much in the way of relief from the hot sun, it may surprise the guest to see that the apartments the natives have allocated for them are surprisingly comfortable. In fact, the only modern convenience they may be missing is a television set! At least, outside the media floor on the first floor of Building One - the first of four inter-connected buildings. In fact, each apartment building seems to have at least one different amenity on the first floor. In Building Two they seemed to even spare a library in another that seems to have the basics and some information packets that are otherwise found in the Welcome Center in District 2. There are even a few restaurants and common dining areas in the Building Three that are open until late at night, and meeting areas and a ballroom on the first floor in Building Four, perfect for setting up small parties or big events. With the locals gone save those who work in the restaurants and the one librarian, leaving you to your own devices, what will you do? What mysteries could be left to discover in this place?] Option 2 [With summer coming, the water level in the river is starting to go down, exposing some of the beach. The Riverside Shack is open late, and its restaurant is pulling out all the stops and offering seafood specials (even though a river is a far cry from an ocean). The rental store, meanwhile, is finally bringing out more of its swimming supplies, inner tubes and pool noodles, and a calmer stretch of the river has been roped off with buoys for swimming. They even have lifeguards chairs set up. Clearly this sort of thing used to be an annual event. It's not quite an ocean beach (quite different actually), but there's still plenty of chance to have fun in the water. Or teach someone to swim, perhaps.] Option 3 [If you're more inclined to explore or learn, the City's Learning Center might be more to your tastes. There certainly seems to be a lot going on here - there's laboratories and libraries and workshops, and plenty of communal areas where you can meet and talk with people. The natives seem pretty absorbed with their studies and work, though they're polite in brushing you off, at least. Perhaps you'll have more luck seeing what other Guests such as yourself have discovered?] Option 4 [Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] Option 5 [If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.]

[It's a good thing that Cu Chulainn demonstrates the movement instead of just explaining it because the explanation only confuses Diarmuid with its vagueness. After watching the other boy for a few moments, though, he finally tries the movement himself. Much like with getting the kicking down, it takes him a few moments to get things right. Once he thinks he's got it, he cautiously tries the two moves together.

That part...he finds quite a bit harder to do. If he focuses on his feet, he forgets his arms. If he focuses on his arms, he forgets his feet. Finally, after a few moments, he splashes his hands in the water in frustration and pouts.]

I can't do it!

[He snickers. Look like the other boy can't learn so fast after all.]

Silly, you have to move them together. Like lift your right foot and left arm at the same time.

They must have done something to us when we were transported here. My Cruxis Crystal's effects have been nullified almost completely. [He frowns.] As you may have guessed... that isn't easy to do.

[He still feels dizzy and sick. He closes his eyes, swaying a little.]

... I may be here for a while.

[Her calm finally gives way to surprise now. That's actually rather worrisome information.]

It's affected you that badly?!

I suppose if they have the technology to bring us here, it's not out of the question...

[She does take a moment to look over at him, and any composure she briefly lost returns.]

...Take your time. It seems we have plenty to spare.

[Diarmuid is quiet for a moment and then his pout suddenly is replaced with a grin as he picks out a very important piece of information he didn't know before.]

You didn't tell me I had to alternate!

[He had been trying to do his left arm and leg together and then his right arm and leg. Alternating is still hard, but as soon as he starts trying he seems immediate results and that just encourages him to keep trying harder.]

[Jamie smiles ever so slightly as the cat approaches and leans down to hold out a hand to it and rub behind its ears as soon as it's within reach. His tone, when he speaks up again, is a little less guarded, too - obviously this is just a regular old cat so he needn't feel silly opening up to it and asking inane questions, right?]

[ Weariness and stomach-churning nausea gradually overtook Momoko during the course of her afternoon stroll through District 1. It was a pleasant day and she'd left her residence in good spirits, but the frilled parasol she'd initially held aloft was now being wielded like a walking stick, aiding her in staying upright until she spotted a bench.

Momoko collapsed in the seat, panting lightly, her legs stretched out in front of her. Silently, she chided herself for her sloppy posture and hoped that it was only a temporary dizzy spell. ]

[And now he's jealous again. He doesn't even know what alternating means.]

Something to keep us in line, I suppose. For all their encouragement, this is... their true hand.

[He groans inwardly, rests his head in his other hand.]

... Maybe. Maybe not. Interfering with the Cruxis Crystal is dangerous. I didn't dare remove it, even when I left the first time. [He lets out a shaky breath.] My life has been paused for over four thousand years. There are... risks involved.

[If this was Lloyd, he wouldn't bother explaining the details. But Raine is an adult.]

_{[Probably a 0, considering the last time he heard anything about Asuka, her and her Eva had been flocked and wrecked by a bunch of mass produced Evas. The familiar voice of the pilot girl causes him to freeze as he turns around to look at her, blue eyes wide. There's a mixture of shock and relief that seems to fill his gaze. He doesn't even ask about the eye patch, barely notices it. All that he can register is that she's well and upright and speaking to him.]}

...Asuka?! You're...you're okay!

_{[Comparatively, at least. 'Okay' was one of those broad terms. Physically, she seemed fine more or less. Mentally? Let's not even go there.]}

[He sets the bucket on the ground with a laugh since his attack has been delayed for the moment, and then peers out at the river, trying to decide whether he's actually going to go for a swim or not.]

[She follows his gaze, less suspicious and more curious as to what he was looking at. The water was crystal clear in the bright sunlight. Welcoming, even.]

Well, let's see... [A light pull at the strap of her swimsuit top, gauging the difference in color between previously concealed and exposed skin.]...maybe an hour? Maybe a little less.

[It comes from the shore to Asuka's left. Kaworu stands at the river's edge, with the water barely licking the toes of his trainers, with his hands in his pockets and a pleasant face. This place is turning out to be pretty greedy for Children.

Still, it should be good for Asuka to experience a clean river like this. Saeng Seong might not have the wrong idea in bringing her here.]

_{[The sudden movement and blunder of his other self snaps him out of his trance, body moving forward out of instinct to help the boy with his face up and out of the water. His hand hesitates a moment before reaching down in offering, still unsure whether to actually make contact. If the boy wants to take his hand he can, if he wants to reject it then that's alright too. The uncertainty is still evident on his face as he stares down.]}

...Um, are you...all right?

[it's a combination of that tone and his already being uncomfortably ill that grates at his patience. he normally tries to be a bit more subtle, but right now all he wants is to stagger back home unaided and with his dignity intact.]

You won't have to hear anything. Now leave me alone, or I'll make you.

[it's a threat he can make good on. and contrary to what one might expect, it has nothing to do with the golden sword strapped around his hip.]

<sub>[It's a gentle embrace, almost on its way to a proper hug but still missing a few little things. Shinji doesn't know how to give hugs, nor does he know how to receive them. He doesn't really have much, if any, experience with them. Kaworu's touch is light, hands a comforting weight against his back. It doesn't frighten him so much as it encourages him to press closer, face burying itself against the Angel's chest. Now Kaworu's shirt is wet or will be soon - not from river water but from the frail boy's damp face. His eyes are leaking again as he clings. Caged in by pale arms there's a faint safety he finds himself indulging in, even if the feeling is rather faint.

It isn't so much sadness now that he's crying from - there's relief mixed in there now too.]</sub>

Though Pippin hadn't actually met Kili before, he knew a dwarf when he saw one. And when he saw that dwarf at the side of the river on such a fine day, he headed right on over to drop onto the grass beside him.

"The water feels pretty good on your feet, doesn't it?" he offered by way of starting a conversation. "I tried that out yesterday. Well, actually, I tried to swim, too, but I'm really not very good at it."

[Watch all you like, Pippin is not going to pull any tricks. Not until you get closer, anyway. He's clever, sure, but he also doesn't know how to swim, and he's found out pretty quickly that Legolas is pretty good at it. So in order to pull anything... the elf needs to be closer.

He just smiles benignly. Innocently, even.]

Well, you did get me into the water, at least! It is cold! But not so bad once you're actually all wet, I suppose.

"Eee-chee-joh," she repeated although her pronunciation on the first syllable was actually longer than it really should be.

"Oh! Alright, hmm... well, if you're a knight... well, I could be a princess... or perhaps your noble steed who is able to speak! Oh but! No, I think I shall be... Ah, I know! Well, I shall be the adventurous Queen Alice! Who had her kingdom stolen from her by the wicked warlock and we're on an epic quest with the only loyal knight of the kingdom! We're off to find the mystical stone, the twin stone that is the good stone to counter the evil stone of the warlock!" Alice was bouncing at the idea of this pretend game. "Come, valiant knight! We've nasty goblins to slay and to find the mystical stone to save the kingdom!"

And like, a lot of business people have straight hair, right? 'Cause they're on the go all the time, but they still look super cool and professional. Plus, people with straight hair don't have to worry about it so much. Like, example?

[She gestures to her own hair.]

Since my hair is so curly it's always doing weird stuff, like getting super frizzy for no reason.

I'm looking forward to it. I'll learn about cooking from you, but the night sky here is something we can learn and experience together. [Kaworu's atmosphere has settled into something so serene that it's like the air around him has stopped moving, for how good this concept is to him.] That makes me happy, Ikari-kun.

[There's a moment where his gladness is almost tangible - no, those are just his fingers, cool against Shinji's palm. But then he lets go of Shinji's hand, and the air stops its stalling. Kaworu has turned to the side to admire the grapes.]

[It takes him a minute to get everything going at once at the right speed to keep him moving and above water, but soon Diarmuid is swimming around the other boy like he had been directed to. Once he is done, he stops next to Cu Chulainn and gives the other boy a hug or at least as close as he can approximate while they are both swimming in the water.]
