Welcome to the Rekindle Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. Then don't forget to go reserve your character in a week when they open. Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: Option 1 [While the days grow longer and warmer and the older, oriental-style of the city would normally make one think that the interiors would not be much in the way of relief from the hot sun, it may surprise the guest to see that the apartments the natives have allocated for them are surprisingly comfortable. In fact, the only modern convenience they may be missing is a television set! At least, outside the media floor on the first floor of Building One - the first of four inter-connected buildings. In fact, each apartment building seems to have at least one different amenity on the first floor. In Building Two they seemed to even spare a library in another that seems to have the basics and some information packets that are otherwise found in the Welcome Center in District 2. There are even a few restaurants and common dining areas in the Building Three that are open until late at night, and meeting areas and a ballroom on the first floor in Building Four, perfect for setting up small parties or big events. With the locals gone save those who work in the restaurants and the one librarian, leaving you to your own devices, what will you do? What mysteries could be left to discover in this place?] Option 2 [With summer coming, the water level in the river is starting to go down, exposing some of the beach. The Riverside Shack is open late, and its restaurant is pulling out all the stops and offering seafood specials (even though a river is a far cry from an ocean). The rental store, meanwhile, is finally bringing out more of its swimming supplies, inner tubes and pool noodles, and a calmer stretch of the river has been roped off with buoys for swimming. They even have lifeguards chairs set up. Clearly this sort of thing used to be an annual event. It's not quite an ocean beach (quite different actually), but there's still plenty of chance to have fun in the water. Or teach someone to swim, perhaps.] Option 3 [If you're more inclined to explore or learn, the City's Learning Center might be more to your tastes. There certainly seems to be a lot going on here - there's laboratories and libraries and workshops, and plenty of communal areas where you can meet and talk with people. The natives seem pretty absorbed with their studies and work, though they're polite in brushing you off, at least. Perhaps you'll have more luck seeing what other Guests such as yourself have discovered?] Option 4 [Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] Option 5 [If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.]

[Miranda doesn't jump, if only because she can't really get much more terrified than she already is. Instead she glances back, lips tightly pressed together into a thin, pale line. The young man doesn't look like anyone she knows, even if there's a faint resemblance to Lavi. Naturally, she can't answer his question. There's just no right way to respond to that. So she asks a question of her own.]

Wh-who are you? What is this place?

She hasn't been around very long, only a few days but it has been enough to tell her that it's not home and it's not Wonderland and it's not anywhere she's ever been before. She's going between sad and a little scared, delighted, and melancholy over the whole thing but at the moment? She's too distracted by the water to feel much of anything.

Natasha has stripped off her shoes and socks, dipped her toes into the water and lets her eyes close. It's nice, quiet here and she can think a little more clearly with the water lapping at her toes.

She's not sure what she's going to do about all of this but, aright now? In this quiet moment to herself, it doesn't entirely matter.

I... [She was tempted to lie, to brush off what she was feeling so that she wouldn't trouble anyone with this. But, this world is so different from the one she same from. Mami would definitely need too rely on someone until these symptoms have ceased plaguing her like this.] I'm afraid I am not in the best of shape...

[Actually her shin kind of hurts, but she's ignoring that for now because she doesn't DARE relax, no matter how friendly and affable this creature happens to be. It's not your fault, Tommy. Rialynn's just horribly superstitious.]

Wh...wha...

[She can scarcely speak. She retreats a few steps, still not comfortable with the amount of space between them just yet. Swallowing hard, she tries again.]

What are you...?

[She starts to feel a bit better after she has sat down. But that sensation after they've touched... it was strange. It was like she was seeking for that feeling again.

But it was not like she could just ask this boy to touch her again. They just met after all. Not to mention it was a bit presumptuous and weird to ask something like that in the first place.]

Yes... I've only been here for a few days. [She smooths her bangs back, trying to cool her face with the gesture.] I didn't think it would be this bad...

[Hm. So this one happens to be Japanese. Interesting.]

[But not half so interesting as the spiritual aura radiating so brightly from inside of him. It feels as if there are two souls intertwined harmoniously. Yoruichi approaches as he beckons, for you know what they say about cats and curiosity.]

[Just before making contact, the cat sits, regarding Yuugi with a level stare.]

You're an interesting one.

[The cat's voice is scratchy and gruff, like an old man's. If that power leaking out of Yuugi is any indication, it's a likely bet he's seen weirder things than talking cats. As such, Yoruichi sees no reason NOT to speak.]

[It's not so much a matter of 'can't' as it is 'won't'. Not now, anyway. But close enough. It looks like his health is starting to improve. Yoruichi hunkers close to the ground, then springs up to settle upon his shoulder. There, much better. Contact is now constantly maintained, and Yoruichi has a better view of what's going on around them.]

No, I am not hurt. [she shakes her head.] But I think I may be sick. The natives have told me this would happen...

[Mani might not be familiar with cats, but Yoruichi is very much aware of a certain shinigami captain who bears a strong resemblance to Mani. They could be distantly related, for all Yoruichi knows.]

M'ow.

[The reply is a simple one, little more than an acknowledgment for now. This one seems nervous, but still in relatively good health, so there's no need for forced intervention just yet.]

Rrow?!

[It isn't often that someone manages to get the drop on Yoruichi, but this time, Alice has succeeded, and Yoruichi is somewhat surprised...but not unduly alarmed. The cat is stiff when picked up, paws sticking outward at a comical angle with furry shoulders bunched up. It's just a child, so Yoruichi suffers the indignation...for now. If Alice were much older, or more malevolent in nature, someone's face would be very scratched right about now.]

Well isn't that sweet. Yoruichi doesn't mind, even if there's an apartment already claimed in Yoruichi's name. It isn't as if the cat couldn't leave whenever it wanted to, so if the girl wants some company for a while, so be it. It's not like Yoruichi has a busy schedule.

So the cat just hangs over Georgia's arm, purring, and keeping a sharp eye out on the other people milling around. It always pays to be observant.

Oh, I see. [ she sounds relieved, and to be honest; she is. ] Why didn't you just tell me? We could have fixed this up quick, Mami-san.

[ and with that, Madoka offers out her hand. ] Don't worry, you'll feel better in no time.

Ah! I caught you! Well hello, Kitty! [Alice is grinning so wide she could give the Cheshire Cat a run for his money as she stroked the cat's fur and stroked behind the cat's ears.] Oh aren't you just the loveliest kitty! And so soft! [Yay cuddling with kitties, Alice's favorite past-time!]

The king looked over when she sat next to him and gently, gravely inclined his head to her.

"Nothing is wrong, except perhaps a longing for home. There are rivers enough in my realm - not bright, sunlight ones as these are, or at least not within its borders, but they are nonetheless mine. This is not."

[At a certain point, Richard has learned to read the signs. He stops by Kratos, and wears a genial expression.]

You don't look so well. Is there any help you need?

[Perhaps it isn't even that strange sickness. Perhaps he is just ill on his own, or not well from the sun, or in need of water. Either way, Miss Congeniality here won't just walk away from someone who isn't well.]

When the king had seen his son, he thought first he was imagining things. That, perhaps, in addition to all else this place had done to him, it was conjuring visions of his son, or perhaps even that there was another who resembled him. But Legolas had not had hair cut so close in almost half a millennium, and did not have a collar encircling his neck, and so he had hesitated. Legolas would have approached him. Wouldn't he?

It was as he noticed the other elf watching him that he began to doubt. Perhaps these differences in appearance he was indeed who he seemed. Perhaps something else was afoot.

At the mention of help, Alice brightened up considerably, offering Natasha a smile as she took the map.

"Oh! Thank you so much! I would greatly appreciate the help! I really don't wish to get lost any further, but if I must get lost, much better to get lost with company than to be lost alone! Don't you agree!"

[madcuriosity]

"Oh, well, I'm sure you'll get to go home, sir. We just have to help the people here, and then we can leave, that is what I think they meant, in any case. Oh but, there's a river by my home too. It's a very long river, goes all the way out to sea!" She offered him a smile. "It may not be your river, sir, but you could still enjoy it, if you liked. I'm sure no one would mind you enjoying a river, of all things. And sunlit bright rivers are particularly nice to enjoy."

Yeeeah, I might hae caved and done it.

She chuckles a little. "I suppose you're right. Besides, you're likely to find your way again if you have someone to help you, right?"

She offers out a hand. "What's your name?"

... I didn't want to worry you. It seems so unnecessary.

[She glances down at the younger girl's hand before reaching out and taking it, giving it a squeeze.

... That seems to make her feel better.] But thank you, Kaname-san.

Pilouette Bonheur | OC | Options 2/4

[Option 4](Stage 2)

[Pilouette has not been particularly happy with this whole situation. Being ripped from her home to another world was bad enough but to make it worse, it was a world where she had to go around touching or hugging people she hardly knew which was just weird and kind of gross. She's been trying to get through by getting contact by way of standing shoulder to shoulder with people in crowded areas and shaking hands whenever it seemed normal, but it's not enough.

As she walks around the apartment building, she's noticeably slow and wobbly and her expression is one of absolute misery. She does her best to stand up straight but, in this case, her best isn't very good at all and her condition is only getting worse.]


[Option 2]

[Having adjusted to her new situation, Pilouette was really settling in and was pretty excited to hear that there was a beach nearby, having never actually been to one. She heads down wearing a sundress, only to be disappointed.

...A river. Pouting a little, she spreads out a small picnic blanket, sits down and just does her best to take in her surroundings, muttering to herself.]

Geez, and I was like, totally excited, too...!

[Unaware of the summoner's presence, some idiot's waded out to about his knees. The water feels good, and there's no question he's up for a swim. But first, he wants to try something.

So he whistles.]

I noticed :D

Without hesitation, Alice took the older woman's hand, unsuspecting of how dangerous Natasha was and could be. Rather, she was just glad to have found someone willing to help her and that more than anything was top priority for Alice.

"My name is Alice Liddell, miss! A pleasure to meet you. What is your name?"

She's trying to remember if she was ever that young, that trusting. She doesn't think so and even if she was, it was probably worked out of her very quickly.

She considers for a moment, then smiles. "Natasha, nice to meet you too."

She leads them towards Building Two, simply to get them out of the street and into a place where they might be able to not be in such an open area. She's still not certain how safe the city is, at least not with fist hand experience and while she doesn't entirely trust the apartment buildings, she finds them slightly safer than the streets.

[Ironic indeed; not that Riku knows about that at this point. He is really just contenting himself with leaning back against the shop's chimney and enjoying the small moment of very likely soon fleeting peace.

And there it goes again, when he hears someone calling his name - the voice is unfamiliar, but when he looks down to see who it is...]

...Roxas.

[Well. That is unexpected.

Even more unexpected is the other knowing his name; Riku didn't exactly introduce himself during their chase through Twilight Town. Was that Sora's memories shining through?]
