Welcome to the Rekindle Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. Then don't forget to go reserve your character in a week when they open. Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: Option 1 [While the days grow longer and warmer and the older, oriental-style of the city would normally make one think that the interiors would not be much in the way of relief from the hot sun, it may surprise the guest to see that the apartments the natives have allocated for them are surprisingly comfortable. In fact, the only modern convenience they may be missing is a television set! At least, outside the media floor on the first floor of Building One - the first of four inter-connected buildings. In fact, each apartment building seems to have at least one different amenity on the first floor. In Building Two they seemed to even spare a library in another that seems to have the basics and some information packets that are otherwise found in the Welcome Center in District 2. There are even a few restaurants and common dining areas in the Building Three that are open until late at night, and meeting areas and a ballroom on the first floor in Building Four, perfect for setting up small parties or big events. With the locals gone save those who work in the restaurants and the one librarian, leaving you to your own devices, what will you do? What mysteries could be left to discover in this place?] Option 2 [With summer coming, the water level in the river is starting to go down, exposing some of the beach. The Riverside Shack is open late, and its restaurant is pulling out all the stops and offering seafood specials (even though a river is a far cry from an ocean). The rental store, meanwhile, is finally bringing out more of its swimming supplies, inner tubes and pool noodles, and a calmer stretch of the river has been roped off with buoys for swimming. They even have lifeguards chairs set up. Clearly this sort of thing used to be an annual event. It's not quite an ocean beach (quite different actually), but there's still plenty of chance to have fun in the water. Or teach someone to swim, perhaps.] Option 3 [If you're more inclined to explore or learn, the City's Learning Center might be more to your tastes. There certainly seems to be a lot going on here - there's laboratories and libraries and workshops, and plenty of communal areas where you can meet and talk with people. The natives seem pretty absorbed with their studies and work, though they're polite in brushing you off, at least. Perhaps you'll have more luck seeing what other Guests such as yourself have discovered?] Option 4 [Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] Option 5 [If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.]

[He takes a deep breath and rears back, going into the water headfirst. A few seconds later, he pops out of the water again.]

Zo? Who is that? [Kili frowned at the strange name as he swam closer to the side a bit.]

Do you know any way out of this world?

[ Yes, small amounts of chlorine are in drinking water. It's supposed to clean it, or maybe it's just that they can't get it out. Possibly both. Whatever, not her problem. ]

Swimming pools have a lot of chlorine in them to keep the water clean. Enough to taste.

"Oh, I was coming back from an adventure. We just had to defeat Sauron, destroy the One Ring, and save the world. Nothing to it, really." He tried to make it sound like nothing, but it was hard for such an impressive sort of adventure-- and scary sort of adventure!-- to come off as "nothing really". "That's over and done with, though, and I've actually been back at the Shire for weeks."

He eyed Kili curiously. "Bilbo thought about coming back with us, but he's happier with the elves. They can look after him better than poor Frodo. He's a hundred and eleventy years old now-- and then some! He needs looking after!"

Kili just stared, nearly opened mouthed at what Pippin was saying. Defeat Sauron? But, he was so powerful! How could one hobbit and other defeat such a foe. Was he just telling a great story to entertain the dwarf? He found it hard to believe. What was this One Ring he was talking about too? Many thoughts whirled about in his mind.

"It sounds like a brave adventure, Pippin. I don't understand though. How can anyone defeat Sauron. He's evil and very powerful." The young dwarf swallowed at mentioning his name. It was him who had evil orcs, such as Azog, under his command.

"Bilbo? That can't be right! He is a young hobbit within our company. I don't know how hobbits age, but he certainly doesn't need looking after. Not in that way, anyway."

I just want to know how to go home.

[She folds her arms, furrowing her brows at the books as if they offended her and insulted her dog.]

That's why you're here too, isn't it?

[Riku shakes himself slightly, taking a step back himself - snapping at Roxas is not going to solve anything after all, and even though he feels dread surging through his chest, he. must not. lose focus.

When he speaks up again he sounds calmer than before.]

Remember what?

[Stubborn indeed, stubborn enough not to take her hand if offered. Or maybe just too distracted by her identity.]

...You are Alice, aren't you?

[For a second Riku wants to drag himself away from that contact - even if it's just her knee touching his for a second - but then leaves it be; it feels good for some reason and Riku is miserable enough to keep from questioning it.

...He draws a line at people squeezing his cheeks though. :|

Just as she touches his cheeks, one of his hands flinches up to catch her at her wrist.]

[Riku blinks back, though he doesn't seem particular disturbed by her sudden appearance. Or her appearance in general. After a moment he shrugs.]

It's a free roof.

[As long as he's left alone, she is free to climb around as she likes... if she's careful at that at least.]

Lodovica could not hold back a shiver from her fever, and the room tilted slightly to the left. "Ugh," she let out, not entirely in disdain. "Is this supposed to be entertainment? It should all be about..." me me me "... something worthwhile! Like a religious leader!"

[Pilouette wonders why she's turning away like that. She frowns just a little, because whatever it is Vee is doing, Pilouette sure she likes it. She decides to keep it to herself to avoid being rude, though.]

Well, it's not like he's in this place, right? Besides, I don't do blind dates. I've never even been on a regular date...

Well, I haven't done like...any chemical stuff. I get like, way too nervous with that kind of thing and I don't wanna end up like, melting my hair off or something. And the last time I tried a flatiron, I ended up burning the ends of my hair and it looked super gross.

And humid mornings are the worst. Like, when it's all humid like that, I have to use a ton of hair spray or mousse to get my hair to do anything besides freak out.

[He giggles.]

That was too fast! I need you to do it again so I can see all I have to do!

[Actually, he mostly just wants to see the other boy do the trick again, but...]

"Nope, no circuits like a computer, just clay. Clay and emotions." He has a another spasm. They don't see to be bothering him in the least. He's smiling through them.

"Understood, General! I collect human stuff!" Collector replies enthusiastically. Speaking of his passion always makes him happy. "I want to own one of everything the humans have created!"

Of course I'm Alice, who else would I be besides myself? I've not tried to be anyone other than me. Even when I didn't feel like myself I didn't feel like anyone other than Alice.

[What with Rin being...Rin, it was kind of hard for her to find someone whose first instinct wasn't to shuffle away awkwardly and keep their distance long thereafter. Of course, that doesn't bode too well if you happen to be a certain eccentric armless artist.

She figures she'd tough it out, at least before some poor soul takes pity on her and carries her away. For now, though, she's lying in the middle of a patch of grass with a dazed look on her face, being a roadblock to absolutely everyone.]

Hey. You ok? [Hilbert's not sure of that dazed look is from lack of hugs or because she's happy, but it never hurts to ask.

The lack of arms hasn't registered, yet.]

She opens her eyes and glances lazily up at him; enough to say one word and one word only:]

Do you need a hug? [Because that is his first reaction to someone who's not ok. That and after being here a while, you kinda get used to the whole hugs are good thing.]

Hugs aren't a food group. There's not an amount of hugs you need to get every day in order to be okay again.

[She sits up weakly, then blinks at him. That blank look on her face won't go away.]

I wonder what hugs would taste like, though.

I think they are here. [He'll crouch down so he's not standing over her.] I dunno. Maybe like ducklett or something.

[He would have said chicken, but he's more familiar with ducklett than he is 'normal' food.]
