Welcome to the Rekindle Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. Then don't forget to go reserve your character in a week when they open. Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: Option 1 [While the days grow longer and warmer and the older, oriental-style of the city would normally make one think that the interiors would not be much in the way of relief from the hot sun, it may surprise the guest to see that the apartments the natives have allocated for them are surprisingly comfortable. In fact, the only modern convenience they may be missing is a television set! At least, outside the media floor on the first floor of Building One - the first of four inter-connected buildings. In fact, each apartment building seems to have at least one different amenity on the first floor. In Building Two they seemed to even spare a library in another that seems to have the basics and some information packets that are otherwise found in the Welcome Center in District 2. There are even a few restaurants and common dining areas in the Building Three that are open until late at night, and meeting areas and a ballroom on the first floor in Building Four, perfect for setting up small parties or big events. With the locals gone save those who work in the restaurants and the one librarian, leaving you to your own devices, what will you do? What mysteries could be left to discover in this place?] Option 2 [With summer coming, the water level in the river is starting to go down, exposing some of the beach. The Riverside Shack is open late, and its restaurant is pulling out all the stops and offering seafood specials (even though a river is a far cry from an ocean). The rental store, meanwhile, is finally bringing out more of its swimming supplies, inner tubes and pool noodles, and a calmer stretch of the river has been roped off with buoys for swimming. They even have lifeguards chairs set up. Clearly this sort of thing used to be an annual event. It's not quite an ocean beach (quite different actually), but there's still plenty of chance to have fun in the water. Or teach someone to swim, perhaps.] Option 3 [If you're more inclined to explore or learn, the City's Learning Center might be more to your tastes. There certainly seems to be a lot going on here - there's laboratories and libraries and workshops, and plenty of communal areas where you can meet and talk with people. The natives seem pretty absorbed with their studies and work, though they're polite in brushing you off, at least. Perhaps you'll have more luck seeing what other Guests such as yourself have discovered?] Option 4 [Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] Option 5 [If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.]

[He can only guess at how wild her hair is, it's a vague things that his Grace shows him, nothing he's focusing on. No, he's focusing on her in general and the feelings coming from her.

Those strange eyes belong to a liar, now.

Ouch. His expression falls, eyes lowering to the ground. This was familiar. A sort of familiar that came with nightmares. Nightmares that reminded him that Katsa might leave him someday, as he expected of his Wildcat but still feared.

What could he say? Explain it all again? Let her hit him? There was no Raffin to come to his aid in calming her anger this time. He was completely on his own. How could she have forgotten?]

I don't know your every thought, Katsa...

Alright! Go ahead. Show me!

[Cu Chulainn's anger had also faded.]

[Sometimes being so easily distracted has its rewards. Diarmuid walks over to Cu Chulainn and carefully puts his hands over the other boy's.]

Hold it like this and then try putting this amount of pressure on the handle, okay?

[He squeezes the other boy's hands for a moment and then steps to the side.]

Do you think you got it? Or do you want me to show you again?

Don't worry. I got this.

[Gripping the branch with the same amount of force that Diarmuid had used, he swings it. This time, he neither falls nor lets it slip.]

[Can't be real? Galadriel was hard pressed not to laugh, but her smile should give her thought across. And the girl's obvious awe was precious. She returned the gentle squeeze, showing that no, she wasn't a figment of one's imagination.]

You need not fear speaking to nothing but air. You are far from alone.

[She had heard the stumbling steps but hadn't, for once, expected the owner of those steps to tumble into her. Amazing, if disturbing to add to all that she did see around. She did not know what she felt she should of this place.

And so she went into the river, just a breath escaping to show her surprise. Galadriel landed with a splash, but fortunately close enough to shore as to avoid being swept away. That alone allowed her to draw what dignity around her she could as she stood, gaze searching for the male whom had cast her accidentally into the waters.]

[Po was both horrified and confused. More horrified really, realizing that he'd drawn her into the water with him. Although he can't as easily get back to shore, the moving water confusing him and making his head hurt as he tried to find solid ground to pull himself to.

The young man practically dragged himself to shore not long after, shivering and soaked through. Lifting his eyes, mismatched lights of silver and gold, and trying to find her but they seem to focus on her for only a moment before falling back to the ground.]

I am terribly sorry.

[Diarmuid claps his hands excitedly.]

That's it! That's good! Now you can do another basic swing by doing the same thing just in the opposite direction! Oh, let me get mine and I will show you!

[He scrambles over to pick his 'sword' back up and demonstrates the swing.]

Do it just like that! Then you will know two basic swings!

[Alice couldn't help but blush as the elf spoke and smiled and just existed. That really seemed like it shouldn't be the case but there it was.]

Oh ah... w-what is your name, Miss Elf?

I'm glad, [Kaworu says, and really seems it, as he brings Shinji slowly up and - as promised - out of the water.

Literally. The toes of their shoes are shedding little droplets onto the river's surface. Kaworu's holding Shinji's hands, and together, they're hovering.]

What do you think sounds good right now? A meal? A bath? A sleep?

_{[When Kaworu had said he'd bring him out of the water, Shinji hadn't thought he'd meant by floating. Immediately the boy's eyes widen as he stares, grasping the hands that hold his tight.]}

K-Kaworu-kun?! We're floating-!

But you do, you must! [How else is she supposed to explain the way he’d known to refer to himself as an opportunist and a thug before Giddon had even spoken the words? The stubs of her nails cut crescents into her palms. Katsa can’t think why she’s trying to reign in the anger she cannot control, and has never been able to. He deserves to feel the weight of his betrayal thrown back in his face.]

You’re a mind-reader. You’re a mind-reader and you lied to me. [Heat crawls up her neck at the idea that he’s been listening to her all along, collecting thoughts and feelings that he was never meant to know. Perhaps she won't hit him. Perhaps she'll only rip the golden hoops from his ears and then break his knuckles: one for each of the odd rings he wears.]

It isn't bad it's just...strange.

[He has pretty much only the roughest of ideas of to what the trolls look like, but it's enough to have a decent idea of who that guy right over there is. Davesprite kind of floats over, wings open a touch- he's not feeling so hot himself, but he can ignore it enough to snark at this guy, right?]

Well it's not like he was really using it for much, but that's still one hell of a thing to find when he opens the door. Davesprite stares for a moment, doing his best to suppress any shock or horror, then prods the body cautiously. "Parkour gone wrong?"

[he squints at the sign, then at Stitch.] Yeah? You got anyone who can back that up? Because sure you look fluffy but who knows, maybe that's just covering for a whole bunch of scales. Don't want to get on the bad side of whoever deals with false advertising around here.

[okay wow the beach is pretty new. He… guesses it's sort of cool? Davesprite's just kind of staring at the water for the moment, wings banked, completely open to any kind of pouncing.]

[No, she doesn't particularly mind.]

[Though she will roll her eyes behind the sunglasses, she doesn't feel the need to immediately disturb her comfortable position on the lounge chair for a wolf call.]

Figured some people might doublethink it enough it looped around to being cool again. Guess not. [he shrugs, and drops down on the sand a little way away.]

But that's a thing to keep in mind, see if the the caws can mix into a compliment. [gotta play any of those that might happen off somehow.]
