Test Drive Meme!

Welcome to the Rekindle Test Drive!
Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you!

Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself.

Then don't forget to go reserve your character in a week when they open.

Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it:
Option 1
[While the days grow longer and warmer and the older, oriental-style of the city would normally make one think that the interiors would not be much in the way of relief from the hot sun, it may surprise the guest to see that the apartments the natives have allocated for them are surprisingly comfortable. In fact, the only modern convenience they may be missing is a television set! At least, outside the media floor on the first floor of Building One - the first of four inter-connected buildings.

In fact, each apartment building seems to have at least one different amenity on the first floor. In Building Two they seemed to even spare a library in another that seems to have the basics and some information packets that are otherwise found in the Welcome Center in District 2. There are even a few restaurants and common dining areas in the Building Three that are open until late at night, and meeting areas and a ballroom on the first floor in Building Four, perfect for setting up small parties or big events.

With the locals gone save those who work in the restaurants and the one librarian, leaving you to your own devices, what will you do? What mysteries could be left to discover in this place?]
Option 2
[With summer coming, the water level in the river is starting to go down, exposing some of the beach. The Riverside Shack is open late, and its restaurant is pulling out all the stops and offering seafood specials (even though a river is a far cry from an ocean). The rental store, meanwhile, is finally bringing out more of its swimming supplies, inner tubes and pool noodles, and a calmer stretch of the river has been roped off with buoys for swimming. They even have lifeguards chairs set up. Clearly this sort of thing used to be an annual event.

It's not quite an ocean beach (quite different actually), but there's still plenty of chance to have fun in the water. Or teach someone to swim, perhaps.]
Option 3
[If you're more inclined to explore or learn, the City's Learning Center might be more to your tastes. There certainly seems to be a lot going on here - there's laboratories and libraries and workshops, and plenty of communal areas where you can meet and talk with people. The natives seem pretty absorbed with their studies and work, though they're polite in brushing you off, at least.

Perhaps you'll have more luck seeing what other Guests such as yourself have discovered?]
Option 4
[Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.]
Option 5
[If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.]

[Awake for some hours and Riku's missed it. Of course, he has already expected that, has made Mickey promise to be there in event that it does, but he'd still would have liked to keep his promise, would have liked to be there and tell Sora just how long he is going to be teased for his forever nap. Or something like that.

...Well, better late than never.]

About time. I'm pretty sure you set a record there anyways.

[It's about then that the next wave of dizzy spell hits him, causing his head to tilt back as he groans lowly.]

'm fine.

[...Right. Of course he is. Alternately, he is just the most miserable liar in this whole city. In more ways than one.]

[He stares at her for a second before slumping back against the wall, helpless laughter spilling over his lips. The whole situation is just so. Well, not amusing, certainly not hilarious... but definitely too insane for words.]

Makes sense.

[Sort of. Enough for him not to even think about questioning her identity again.]
madcuriosity: (I don't know where I am)

[personal profile] madcuriosity 2013-06-02 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't imagine why it wouldn't. [She tilted her head and leaned in a little close to Riku, frowning.]

What... I don't understand, sir, is why you're refusing help when you're clearly not well.

[She opens her mouth, but then decides not to justify his obnoxious arrogance with an answer. Until she realizes he must have heard that, too. Her eyes well, and she wishes for Raffin and his ridiculous blue hair. He would have some idea of what she could do, how to proceed with this new information.]

It would be easier if you extended me the same advantage. [She wants the sense of equality back, even if it had been false before.] If you're to know my thoughts and feelings then I should know yours, as well.

[Connor himself was more than interested in learning more of this place, and what secrets it may hold. Never before in his life has he ever experienced anything such as this. The layout of the area was both confusing, and overwhelming for the poor, hooded man. So, when he noticed a girl reading, he immediately became interested. Perhaps she knew of any useful information that he could put to use.]

Excuse me young lady, but can I have a moment of your time?

[And she might be a bit startled when a man wearing a hood drops out of that tree. It seemed as though this was as close as he could get to the same natural environment as back home. Though it lacked...well everything that he once knew. But that was a given seeing as it was new territory.]

Oh...pardon me.

Connor Kenway || AC3 || Option 1

[personal profile] eaglebornbyfreedomwon 2013-06-02 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[Connor moved along through his chosen path quietly, the sound of his footsteps being heard only to those with trained ears. However he still felt as though he stood out far too much. While many of the normal citizens walked an even gate with calm, relaxed movements. His was one of calculated, cautionary steps. Much like that of a predator or hunter looking for a meal. Though he currently was not in a predatory state of mind, unless one were to consider the hunt for information predatory.

It didn't help that he currently had his hood up, concealing his features, however.]

[Setting aside a pamphlet she had gathered from elsewhere, Lelouch turns her attention to the stranger attempting to speak to her. Speaking more as a member of the student council, helpful and cordial, then the leader of a small army, Lelouch speaks calmly.]

Oh, of course. How can I help you?
eaglebornbyfreedomwon: (Thinking)

[personal profile] eaglebornbyfreedomwon 2013-06-02 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Could you tell me any information that you may have on the people inhabiting this area?

[That seemed like an easy enough question, he supposed. Or at the very least a bit easier to answer than a question about city itself.]

[personal profile] revolutionary_girl_lulu 2013-06-02 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, as a whole those I've talked to have been uninterested in assisting my efforts or have ignored me entirely.

But from what I can gather from all of this reading material, they seem harmless. Which I imagine is the most important thing in the end.

[personal profile] eaglebornbyfreedomwon 2013-06-02 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps...however nothing is truly harmless. [Even frightened rabbits could have a very nasty bite.]

And what of the city itself? [May as well ask that as well in the end.]

[personal profile] revolutionary_girl_lulu 2013-06-02 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Very true, the seeds of destruction can be sown in the smallest of vessels.

[Lelouch laughs lightly.]

But I imagine we should set aside talk of philosophy for until I answer your question. It seems as if this city is as modern as any in the first world and posses all the amenities one would expect to see in such a place.
eaglebornbyfreedomwon: (Thinking)

[personal profile] eaglebornbyfreedomwon 2013-06-03 12:06 am (UTC)(link)
[The face beneath the hood did not show any emotion towards the laugh of hers.]

This is considered...modern? [Not by his standards.] I do not understand what would make it modern.

[personal profile] revolutionary_girl_lulu 2013-06-03 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps I was a bit hasty in my use of the word "modern." The facilities here seem to be a strange mixture of the old and new, without adhering to heavily to either style. And while I'll admit this place is certainly not match the glory of a city of the Britannian empire, I've seen worse conditions in places more "modern" then this.

[personal profile] eaglebornbyfreedomwon 2013-06-03 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
Britannian empire? I have yet to see the English be able to create anything like this. [The closest ones who he could think of that would be able to even come close were those mysterious Masons, and maybe a few of those in Congress. Mr. Franklin in particular.]

And I cannot say much about Japan. [Because wasn't that supposed to have been a small island of backwards people?]

[personal profile] revolutionary_girl_lulu 2013-06-03 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
[Lelouch's eyes grow wide with surprise upon hearing Connor's words, was this man really so isolated from the world at large that he didn't know of the world's largest empire?]

The empire has existed for centuries...how is it that you've never heard of it?

[Roxas's face drops. He studies Riku as if he were warping in front of his eyes, like he had missed something.]

You don't remember anything else? [How he'd changed form, how he'd beaten Roxas unconscious, flung him into a virtual simulation of a town on DiZ's orders, or anything that followed? But if this town had only taken those memories, he shouldn't be wearing that blindfold.

Roxas eyes turn to either side of the city, as if he were waiting for the punchline, or for something to jump out at them both.]

What's going on in this city? [Mostly for himself, but Riku is free to throw in his two cents.]
eaglebornbyfreedomwon: (Don't wanna talk)

[personal profile] eaglebornbyfreedomwon 2013-06-03 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
[A slight raise of the eyebrow, not that she would be able to see it with his hood in the way.]

You are speaking of the Kingdom of England, correct? [If not, then things were a bit more bizarre than he had originally believed them to have been. And he wasnt entirely certain that he was going to enjoy that fact.]

[personal profile] revolutionary_girl_lulu 2013-06-03 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Britannia's history is long and complicated, but does trace its origins to the country of England and its surroundings. In the present day however, it consists of much more. Encompassing both of the Americas, the Middle East, Japan and a number of smaller holdings.

[personal profile] eaglebornbyfreedomwon 2013-06-03 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
And yet no such place exists. [A frown this time.]

...I do not think that those who have been kidnapped come from the same era or Earth. [If they even came from Earth to begin with.]

[personal profile] revolutionary_girl_lulu 2013-06-03 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
That would explain the discrepancies between our histories.

[personal profile] drivenblades 2013-06-03 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
Draven looks at him, and his eyes narrow on seeing the map. He's about to speak, about to reject and go alone, but what else Davesprite says...he sighs, brushes his hand on the hilt of his katana - he'll waste no more. Draven hasn't found anyone to fight besides himself, and allies don't have much merit here.

"You know, now that I feel, a drink may finally do something for me."

It's not a nudge, or even an attempt at conversation, really - he's more amused at the notion than anything. When they first started walking, Draven swayed back towards the wall, because it's cool, a filling cool, but...well, walking has a rhythm of its own, no matter how much it takes. They've almost reached the street.

Perhaps, though I do not recall telling you anything of my history. [Nor was he going to either. The feeling of privacy was far to grat here.]

But I doubt I needed to have in order for you to figure out that there are differences.

[personal profile] revolutionary_girl_lulu 2013-06-03 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed, your ignorance of the Britannian empire was more then enough to glean that something differed between our respective pasts.
eaglebornbyfreedomwon: (Stares into your soul)

[personal profile] eaglebornbyfreedomwon 2013-06-03 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
Indeed, and I believe it to be so for everyone else here.

[Which raised the question of where here is.] However you seem to be rather knowledgable with the machines and tools used within this world.
