Test Drive - March Edition
![]() SURPRISE! It's time for our new Rekindle Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. |
Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: |
Option 1 |
[ It's looking gray here, still in that colorless pre-spring phase. There is one bright spot of color, in the form of roses decorating a few tables inside buildings. They even appear to be free for the taking, if you need a little color! And mostly benign. Mostly.] |
Option 2 |
[ The entire city looks pretty new to you, but there seems to be a special amount of shine to one particular spot. Maybe it's just the lights on the ferris wheel, which looks like it could offer a great view of the new city. Only catch is that you're going to end up sharing the ride with another person.] |
Option 3 |
[Apparently this place has a zoo and an aquarium, and is currently holding a special deal and event. Bring a second person in with you, get a special pass to the exhibits! |
Option 4 |
[The slow warming and change in the season has another effect; visibility has a way of suddenly dropping when a cool mist rolls in off the banks of the river and down from the clouds. It's got a chill and dampness to it, and makes it hard to see. You might want to be careful not to bump into anyone while trying to get in out of the fog.] |
Option 5 |
[Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] |
Option 6 |
[If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.] |
Gaia Rowntree | FFXIV: A Realm Reborn - OC
[This... was not the Waking Sands. Nor did it appear to be any place in Eorzea that she had ever been to - and by this point in her travels, she's been to all three major city-states and seen quite a bit of the lands around them.
At least this particular arrival and plea for help hadn't come with a cryptic dream involving crystal goddesses and men in black coats.
Maker be praised, there had even been a letter explaining what this city needed of her. Physical contact? She could do that quite easily.
'It almost seems... too easy.' If her experience as an adventurer had taught her anything, it was that things were never as simple as they were on the surface.
She gathers her sword, shield, and the folder containing the introductory materials, and heads out into the city proper. It was time to get her bearings, and get a feel for the size of this Saeng Seong.]
[While the metal contraption had caught her attention, the zoo and aquarium held more interest to her - she was quite curious about the nature of the animals of this world.
She openly scowled at the sign detailing the promotion.] A pass, should I enter with another...?
[That... was problematic.]
Option 3? c:
Sure, I'm game. :3
[She takes a moment to briefly look over the other woman - if the design of that dress was any indication, she was looking at a mage of some sort. Perhaps a thaumaturge? They always did prefer darker colors...
She can find out.] If it's not too much trouble, could you accompany me?

What was with this city?
There's no use even attempting to hide the grateful look on her face.] Thank you.
[She pauses, then adds - ] I only hope we won't see anything as fearsome as a chimaera inside.
option 3
But Red had taken notice of the sign too. He could either part with some of his money (apparently, opting to go in with a pokémon unfortunately didn't count), or he could find somebody else to go in with him. It was during giving the second option a go that Red saw the woman at the sign, the same one that he'd been at only a little time earlier. Another curious soul?
Wouldn't know until he found out. And so he approaches her, putting up a hand up and calling out to try and catch her attention.] Hey!
[And if she looks his way-] Did you want to get in too?
[There can also be optional company to the thread, in the form of am oversized yellow rodent perched on the boy's shoulder.]
no subject
'By the Twelve... it's adorable!' It bore a passing resemblance to a moogle, and yet there was no way that the creature was related to the little forest spirits.
She shakes her head briefly, aware that she's now staring, and offers the boy a smile.] Yes, I did.
[Given that he said 'too' when he asked...] Maybe we can solve each others dilemma. Care to join me?
no subject
But Red knows a little better, and he lifts up a hand to pat the side of Pikachu's head.]
Yes, please- thanks. They didn't count the two of us as being a pair.
no subject
[And truthfully, she couldn't; there was intelligence in the creature's eyes - moreso than in your average coerl or jackal.
Well, onwards.] You're welcome - it's good to know that I'm not the only one curious about the creatures of this realm.
[A brief pause.] I don't suppose either of you have a name?
no subject
He's just Pikachu. He never cared about having a nickname.
[At that, Pikachu nods- he likes Pikachu just fine! - and gives a Pika! in extra agreement.]
And I'm Red. [He thinks, then decides to add-] Actually, we're all new to the city.
3!
[hey, not to scare you or anything, but this girl kinda showed up quietly behind you. her hands are clasped demurely in front of her, and she's smiling politely at you.]
I'm on my own, if you wanted to go inside?
no subject
But... this woman certainly appeared to be one of the fairer members of the Midlander persuasion - she even had the slighter build of a Midlander. But her height...
Gaia can only nod, and almost too late she remembers to smile politely. 'Manners, Rowntree - Mother would thrash you if she caught you being rude.'] Yes, I did - thank you.
[She looks back towards the entrance to the exhibit - and the sign that had been the source of her worries.] I was hoping to see what manner of creatures this realm had, and if they're anything like those I'm familiar with.
[You never know what you might have to defend yourself against.]
