Test Drive - April Edition

Happy early April and spring! Here's a new test drive to go with it! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. And don't forget to go reserve your character, GO GO GO.......

Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it:

Option 1

[Something went wrong with your arrival, or perhaps the security around the gates was lax. Either way, you find yourself outside the city and in place that's providing a steady drain on your energy and looking a lot less warm and welcoming. Particularly those insects of unusual size skittering down the sides of the buildings, just waiting for the wrong movement to be made before swarming. There's an alarm being raised on the other side of the city walls, and it sounds like help is on the way…But will it come fast enough?]

Option 2

[There's a bustle of activity in some parts of the city; people fussing over generators that look freshly installed (and also look oddly lantern like; one more oddity to add to this place) and trying to get them up and running. It looks like they could use a hand or two to help…And oddly enough, given the instructions, hand holding to help power these devices.]

Option 3

[Spring is here! Or at least close at hand, with all the flowers beginning to bud in the trees and the grassy areas. (There might even be a few small animals on hand, too!) Even a change in decoration as little charms and masks are hung up on buildings and the like. Chances are, there might be some other people out enjoying the spring weather, too.]

Option 4

[Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.]

Option 5

[If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.]

Sounds like a real excitin' book! I dunno if I could read that much about one city... Guess that makes ya a pretty smart bird!

[Nageki draws his head back slightly.]

It's real nice ta meetcha, Nageki! I've known plenty of birdie pals before... maybe it's true what they say. Birds of a feather, mock together!

[But he just laughs it off again.]

I ain't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, sometimes. But ya get what I mean! Birdies like me, and I like birdies!

[How does Nageki keep attracting people like this? All his friends say that sort of thing and completely ignore his reserve.]

[...he doesn't really mind much.]

[he counts on his fingers.]

My best friend is Donald duck, and his gal Daisy. Then there's Uncle Scrooge, and his nephews, Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Iago turned out purdy nice last time we met, and there was that nice Zazu fella...

[He holds up his shield proudly.]

[ Her brows furrow as she tries to recall what happened before she arrived here. ]

I remember Riku taking me to the top of the tower to meet Master Yen Sid... The King was there too. [ She absently scratched the back of her head as she thought. ]

I don't think I went anywhere after that... [ Except that, obviously, she must have gone somewhere. This isn't the magician's tower, nor the neighboring Twilight Town. ]

[He shrugs, as it's really the best he can offer right now.]

Maybe we all got split up after that... Which means we just gotta walk around, and I bet we'll find 'em in no time at all!

[After a few months of trying to adjust to this place, you'd think he'd get used to how weird this place works. Yet actually hand holding people when he wouldn't so much as reach out even to his best friends sometimes still throws him for a loop. So when he hears someone ask if they can help, he is almost relieved because maybe they'll do the hand holding instead so he doesn't have to-

Except he recognizes that voice.

In fact, he knows it way too well to not just turn around and then jump very minutely in surprise.]

K-Kairi?

[When did you get here don't tell him he missed her arriving. D:]

[Well he had heard a few things about touching being more important here. Maybe he had a point.]

Right. Sorry, I'm still getting used to this place.

[He glanced at his hand before casually extending it ahead of him. Hopefully it worked the same way for robots as it did for everyone else who talked about it.]

So... handshake, then?

[protomensch]

"Dashing? I think I can handle a sprint."

Then again, maybe it was for the best the robots back at home couldn't do that sort of thing. Or, at least, that a certain scientist's robots couldn't. He'd hate to think of what would have happened if those were something other than giant, mutated insects.

But in the present he'd welcome her help. Especially if she was going to keep throwing out moves like... that. He just hoped he'd be able to keep up. He just had to materialize his battle armor.

...But his power core was no longer his only worry, it seemed. Even at its worst, he'd never gotten insufficient allocation when trying to equip himself. The best he could do was pick back up from his stumble and try to match Layer's pace on foot. At least his cannon was still responding, and he gathered it around his fist to pick off a couple stragglers behind them.

"You'll bleed out your reserves if you keep pulling moves like that!"

[simpleness]

Sure. Why not? [ He's already going for the handshake before he even finishes agreeing to it. Maybe that's a little overeager, but it's worth seeing if it really works, and all that. His grip's a little flimsy and his shake's not impressive, but at least he's trying. ]

I'm still new here, too, so it's not like I really get it, either.

[One of the people startled by that rather impressive sneeze is staring, though not because of said sneeze.

No, it's because he somewhat recognizes the one doing the sneezing, and he's more than a little surprised to see them here.

Even though by all rights, he shouldn't be.] Are... you all right?

Keyword was 'keep'. She didn't know if she could even do it again, but didn't tell him that.

"Risky, but better to use less moves and head in a straight line than pausing to expend further energy taking them on with the rapier or the cannon."

But as she looked ahead, something didn't make any sense.

"Their alarms are sounding, but rather than lock out any threat that sounded it, the gates are wide open..." Enter through the front doors, or scale the walls?

[He rubbed his nose, and then lifted his head, realizing someone was speaking to him. he smiled cheerfully, thinking this person was somehow familiar, but couldn't quite put a name to the face yet.]

Aw, I'm okey dokey! A sneeze never did harm anyone... unless it was from an elephant.

One of the robots can't exactly help it, being tank-like in shape (though only a little larger than a housecat), so it had a gun turret pointed in front of it at all times. Neither of them seemed to actually be doing anything but follow her, at least.

Fortuna forces herself not to respond to the initial look he gives her, knowing full well by now it meant his world had probably not experienced the Awakening, so he'd never seen a troll. Strange, too, he wouldn't look all that out of place at home, either, even with that pompadour (and given that guitar, he's a musician anyway, things that seem slightly odd wouldn't be odd at all, for them. Never know how people will try to buck or start new trends). CASer, he sounds like (she never thinks for a moment that a world with no Awakening would not result in the countries she's used to). She wonders where he's from, exactly. It's not an accent she heard often.

"You'd be right about that. I was pulled here, too, back in December." And on the subject of accents, she sounds fairly generically American, and her voice is clear and softer than one would expect from someone so bulky. "You had people after you? If you don't mind me asking."
