Test Drive - May Edition
![]() Belated May Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. |
Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: |
Option 1 |
[Animals, animals everywhere! All over the different parts of the city…And perhaps paying you a visit as well! In a strange manner, as you might find yourself looking over Saeng Seong in a different, more fuzzy perspective.] |
Option 2 |
[Petals keep falling on your head; or at least they have a persistent habit of falling from trees that are in full bloom. And as a consequence they form a nice array of color floating on the wind…Or perhaps getting in one’s face and blocking vision. Or in the worst case, causing a sneezing fit from the excess pollen. Still, at least there’s some flowers to help liven up the air?] |
Option 3 |
[Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] |
Option 4 |
[If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.] |
Professor Samuel Oak, Pokemon Anime
Sam was still exploring the city, as well as looking for anyone he knew. While he'd spotted a few trainers and their Pokemon, he didn't recognize any of them. What he was interested in right now, however, was the odd, Pokemon-like creatures scurrying about. This one reminded him of a Growlithe, that one reminded him of a Skitty, that bird reminded him of a Murkrow. Finally, his curiosity got the better of him and he scooped up one of the smaller ones as it went by.
((Sam just picked up your character! What do?))
Option 4
After deciding that wandering about on foot was too slow, Sam took to the skies. No, he didn't have wings or levitation abilities or anything like that, just a 7-foot dragon that was perfectly happy to carry him on his back. Although when the dragon came close enough, to the observant it would be clear that it had seen better days. There were a few spots here and there on its scales that don't quite match up with the ones around it -- wounds that healed somewhat recently. The dragon couldn't be hurting too badly, though, since it was showing no strain in carrying a passenger.
((Maybe Sam and Dragonite just touched down near your character, or are hovering near your window. Maybe they're chilling out on the ground in order to give Dragonite a break. Maybe they even made it over the walls somehow and need help getting back because of the energy drain?))

The light disappears after a moment, and she shakes her head. "Seriously?" she mutters, stuffing her hands back in her pockets. "So they expect me to believe that's a real dragon? Well you're not fooling me!" she shouts up at the sky.

The two swoop down near the girl; Dragonite looks annoyed (it is too a real dragon!), but Sam's expression is a cross between worry and curiosity. "Is there something wrong, Miss?" he calls from Dragonite's back.
no subject
Kyoko takes two quick steps back and folds her arms, looking suspiciously at the giant dragon. She still can't believe that it's not dangerous. Even if it's not a witch, weird news usually means bad news in her experience.
"And here I thought that whole spiel about getting all touchy-feely was nuts. Now we've got dragons like this is some storybook?"
no subject
At the mention of its name, Dragonite tries to make itself look bigger and exhales a strong puff of air through its nose; even at this distance, it might ruffle her hair a bit. Sam shoots his Pokemon a look, holding his arm out in front of it, silently telling Dragonite to behave itself. The dragon shrinks back, as if it's been scolded, and Sam turns his attention back to the girl.
"Does your world not have Pokemon?" Being amazed at seeing such a rare Pokemon would be one thing, but this girl seemed to believe Dragonite shouldn't exist at all.
no subject
That confused head-tilt most probably means a 'no'. She remains unaffected by the dragon's attempt at intimidation.
"Never heard of 'em. Is he like some kind of pet?"
no subject
no subject
Not that she believes in this nonsense or anything.
actually we don't know how he got his dragonite so I made something up
no subject
"That's a cool story and everything, but really weird. Princes and knights are always doing that stuff in stories, so are you gonna tell me you've got a kingdom next?"
She folds her arms again, still skeptical.

Approach, travellers?

"Not too close, Dragonite, you'll crash!" With Sam's warning, Dragonite slows and hovers a comfortable distance away, though close enough to communicate.
"Dragonite!" Dragonite greets the Pokemon, while Sam looks around for signs of its trainer.
no subject
Yet it's the figure on the pokémon's back that catches her attention as much as it itself. She knows that man - she should, considering that she lived her younger years with him before Red took her with him on his journey.
Her response is curt, gruff; more than she intends it to, not meaning to be rude but being on the shy side (and not wanting to give that totally away). She nods though, to add to her greeting and to hopefully make it more friendly, especially with the professor there.
She then takes a flap of her wings back, nodding her head to the side and saying - follow me. It's a question despite not coming off as one, seeing as how she waits for the dragonite's confirmation. But Charizard knows that Red would like to meet the professor.
no subject
"What is it, Dragonite?" Sam knows the two have been communicating, not wanting to butt in, but he'd still like to know what Dragonite agreed to. The dragon relays Charizard's request to him, and after a moment, he nods to Charizard himself. "Alright. Lead the way, Charizard."

It's not a long ride, especially for two like them, and soon enough they're in the area of the park. Red, with the rest of his team out of their balls (Venusaur, Blastoise, Snorlax, Lapras, and Pikachu) can all be seen below, and the trainer looks up at her when she gives a short roar to let them know that she's there, and there's a reason for her return.
She lands down, speaking to the group to tell her who she had found. While Red looks at her, Charizard directs her head towards the skies, and so he looks back up.
no subject
"I take it these Pokemon are yours?" The boy's style of dress reminds him of Ash, and come to think of it, his team does, too. The thought just makes him homesick, though; this trainer is definitely not Ash.
no subject
And it's so weird to hear, spoken to like a stranger by a man he knows so well. Politely so, but still. Red doesn't try to hide his surprise, but he decides to -- nod, stepping forward.
"Y... yeah." He pauses again, relaxing then his expression, and decides to hold out a hand to the professor. "I'm Red."
He wants to say more, but he holds it off, partly wondering if (hoping on?) the professor might suddenly appear to recognise him. Pikachu makes a small but quizzical sound down on the ground, and Snorlax looks to Blastoise, asking him, isn't that the professor from Red's home?
no subject
His attention is drawn to Pikachu's voice, and he crouches down, holding his hand out to the little one.
no subject
"We know you- we're familiar with your work." That's an understatement. "I'm a trainer from Kanto."
Pikachu, though confused by the situation, steps forward and holds out a paw for him to take as Red continues to speak.
"There's a few pokémon trainers here, but not a lot. I think she was surprised to see you and your dragonite."
Which wasn't a complete lie. None of them knew if any of the other trainers present had one with them.
no subject
"I've seen them around." He hadn't recognized any of them, so he left them alone. "Dragonite and I just arrived, though." Speaking of Dragonite, it steps away from Sam's side to greet the larger Pokemon on Red's team. Even though it's Sam's guardian, it seems Red and his Pokemon mean him no harm, so Dragonite can let its guard down a little.
Sam turns his face back toward Pikachu, and will try to pet Pikachu's head, if Pikachu will allow it.

hope you don't mind brackets! (also 4 aha) (if crys wasn't a pony it'd be 1)
also fuck i totally just hit enter too early and posted this comment without anything I AM SO SORRYShe's not sure if she's ever seen the professor out and about... or on a dragonite, for that matter. There's no way for her to get to him now, but he's gotta land sometime, right?
Lucky that her arcanine's up and ready to go. She'll ride him until the professor settles somewhere, then get off so she can greet her superior with a smile.]
Good afternoon, Professor!
[Though, with the Red she'd met here in mind -- it's possible, really possible, the professor might not know who she is at all. Still, better to wait and see if that's the case than jumping to conclusions.]
Nope! :)
"Dragon!" Dragonite points at the ground, and Sam follows its claw with his gaze to spot the girl on the Arcanine -- a pair he'd seen several times before on this flight.
"Do you think she's following us, Dragonite?" Dragonite nods. "We'd better see what she wants, then." And with that, Dragonite descends, landing on all fours so that Sam can climb off more easily.
At the girl's greeting, Sam is confused; she seems to be personally familiar with him, but he's sure he's never seen her before. He scratches his head before replying, trying to recall her face; nothing.
"Ah, good afternoon, Miss," he finally says politely.

There's no need to call me "miss," I'm not old enough for that. [She doesn't hesitate to extend her hand for a shake.] Just Crys is fine. Your Dragonite looks very well-trained.
[Good business practices. She's just a trainer to him, so an introduction like this is just fine. Archy nudges her shoulder and she raises her other hand to scratch beneath his ear.]
Oh -- and this is Archy. You're Professor Oak, right? We've heard a lot about you back home. [Yeah.
That's one way to put it. It's not a lie, but it's not the whole truth.]
Sorry if this seems kind of sudden -- I thought I'd kind of get introductions out of the way, especially since you were just flying around.
no subject
"Thank you. He's been with me for a long time." He shakes her hand, then extends his hand to Archy, offering it a sniff. At her apology, he shakes his head.
"It's fine. It's nice to meet you, Crys." At least since she already knows who he is, he doesn't really have to introduce himself.
