Test Drive - July Edition

Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it:

Option 1

[ It looks like there are preparations underway for some sort of festival or fair. There are various stands and booths being erected along sectioned-off streets and the riverbank, and decorations are slowly but surely being hanged. Fireflies seem to be appearing all along the riverbank as the sun sets, with a few stands set up with mason jars of various sizes as well as paper lanterns, possibly as further decorations. Whatever the case, it looks like those setting up could use some help! ]

Option 2

[ Though most of the stands are being set up, that doesn't mean that there aren't a few vendors looking to help those out and about beat the heat in some fashion. There are some selling shaved ice with various flavors, and others that appear to be handing out water-filled balloons or squirt guns. However, like in the market district, there's a catch – the items are free, so long as you arrive at the stall in pairs or groups larger than two. ]

Option 3

[ Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.]

Option 4

[If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.]

Congratulations, you will henceforth be 'the mutant turtle' when Drax needs to refer to you.

Drax just nods at the mutant turtle's explanation. "He was made by scientists." He frowns sternly and shifts from merely standing at the booth to looming over Donatello. "He did not ask to be experimented on. You will not disrespect him. He is a person, not an animal, and he is my friend."

It's better than 'the freak.'

Donnie backs off as Drax moves forward, though his stance changes as well. To a practiced combatant, it's likely clear he's ready to spring to either fight or flight as necessary. Though he's also raising his hands in front of him.

"Whoah, there, big guy, I didn't mean to disrespect anyone. My family and I have been strapped our fair share of tables by shadowy government agents before. I'm not judging. Your friend Rocket actually sounds like he has similar origins to me."

Drax notices the shift in stance. And the mutant turtle's assurances that he will respect Rocket.

A smile quirks his lips for a brief moment. "You are a fighter. What is your weapon?"

Okay, we appear to be looming menacingly less. That's a good thing.

"I use a bo staff," Don replies, pointing a thumb over his shoulder to the weapon on his back.

Drax nods and sets the plush raccoon back down. "I use knives. We should fight."

[purple_chelonian]

"What, right now? You mean like a spar, right, not actual to-the-death combat." Donatello looks around. "Probably wouldn't be appropriate in the middle of the fair, but the building over there has a flat roof without too many obstructions." Which he knows because he ran over said roof to get here.

"... Not right now," Drax says with a frown. "My knives are not suitable for sparring. I could do you great harm."

He could do the mutant turtle great harm without the knives, but he's going to try not to be an a-hole here.

"Alright, that sounds fair," the mutant turtle agrees. Was honestly not looking forward to fighting huge scary dude.

Drax is looking forward to fighting the mutant turtle. Fighting someone who can fight back would suit this place better than fighting and killing whoever has angered him.

"What is your name? I will find you when I have suitable knives."

It's not the knives that worry Don. He spars with Leo and Raph all the time without them using blunted weapons. It's the huge scary guy that worries him.

"My name is Donatello. And you are?"

"I am Drax."

[purple_chelonian]

"Nice to meet you, Drax. So how are you liking Saeng Seong so far?"

Drax looks thoughtful. "It is a pleasant prison-city. I have been in worse. I don't understand why they put me here."

Some planets like to do penal cities, so their criminals are accomplishing something and maybe reforming. This is a city he arrived in unconscious, without his friends, and with no way back to the Milano. He can't leave and all the exits are guarded.

But do those other planets have kangaroos in theirs?

"Yeah, it's the nicest prison I've been in, but a prison nonetheless. Supposedly each time we non-natives touch it generates energy that they're using to restore their world, but I'm almost certain they're not telling us the whole story."

Also: the exits are guarded? That's going to stop him?
