Test Drive - October Edition
![]() The October Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. |
Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: |
Option 1 |
[ With the return of fall comes somewhat cooling temperatures and the phasing out of all summer clothing from the shops. There's an assortment of colder-weather clothing being put up; sweaters, jackets, scarves, gloves, boots - you name it, and it's visible in the mannequins out on display. With the return of fall also comes the return of the fall sales - all store managers are offering discounts for those that come in to purchase in pairs. ] |
Option 2 |
[ With the changing out of the summr clothing to fall also comes the shift from the fresh fruits of summer to the gourds, apples, and warm spices of the season of harvest. Cinnamon and nutmeg can be smelled wafting from cafe's and coffee shops, tempting anyone passing by to come in and sample the wares. Like the clothing stores, they are offering a discount for those that purchase in groups of two or three. ] |
Option 3 |
[ There seems to be another festival in the works, if the stands being erected in the Fourth District are anythign to go by. There still seems to be a lot of work to do, and the citizens would love it if a helping hand or two were to be offered. One stand that seems to be fully erected and hard at work is one dedicated to carving what looks to be the Saeng Seong equivalent of a pumpkin into traditional lanterns. There are still a number of these gourds waiting to be carved, and once again the citizens would be delighted to have any number of volunteers aiding them with the task of carving. ] |
Option 4 |
[ Fall in Saeng Seong also means rain; lots and lots of rain, usually from out of nowhere. Luckily, the city is used to this phenomenon, and has had several small awnings built in strategic locations around the city for waiting out the wet spells that hit so frequently. They're only big enough for two or three people to take shelter under with moderate comfort, but that doesn't seem to bother anyone. Hope you don't mind sharing the space with a stranger for the duration of the weather, unless one of you had the foresight to bring an umbrella. ] |
Option 5 |
[ Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] |
Option 6 |
[If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.] |
REWIND | TRANSFORMERS IDW
maybe he did. maybe that's why he's here. rewind's not sure about the afterlife -- this place is glaringly not cybertronian, and he's…definitely still alive. where he is remains to be unseen, but he's going to find out. it's not as though he has much else to do here… and honestly, he's not sure he's ready to process everything that happened before he wound up here. now that he's still alive, he has to process it -- at some point, anyway. but for now, he's just going to make his way through the street with his little red camera light on, dodging the rain and seeing what he can see about this place. ]
no subject
[ It's not hard to catch up to the other Autobot. Even shrunk down some, Blades is still has longer legs, after all.
He beams down at him, not seeming to mind the rain beading his chassis.]
How have you been?
[ He knows Rewind, of course! Surely Rewind knows him, they've met before, after all. Haven't they? ]
no subject
Oh, uh...have we met?

Still, it was rather odd, seeing such a little girl carrying such a large gun. Someone her size shouldn't be carrying it, but she was doing it without any issues.
She then noticed the bot in the street with her and gave a rather sheepish smile. The girl really needed to find a place to put the guns. She didn't need them here.]
Oh, hello.

[Chromedome knows that he doesn't have any right to talk to Rewind again, but he misses him terribly. Worse yet, he hasn't seen him in a long time. As much as he wants to keep hiding away, he knows he can't. He has to face this somehow.]
Rewind, wait up for a moment. We need to talk.
no subject
rewind turns -- not very quickly, as though he's afraid to see no familiar face, to find he'd only imagined it. but it's chromedome, all right -- chromedome, alive and whole and healthy, calling his name. for a moment, he can't believe it. rewind had thought he'd wound up here because he'd ceased to exist in his own universe -- is this, then, where chromedome had gone, too? but chromedome's dead... the last time rewind had seen him, he'd been limp and bent, his visor cracked, pierced with his own needles. rewind shivers at the involuntary memory. ]
-- Chromedome?
[ his visor flickers; he's almost too stunned to react beyond that, caught between the uncertain mystery of this place and his own all-too-recent memories. ]

well hope you don't mind me popping in here~
Of course, settling back in wasn't helped by the sight of a clone of himself walking through the city.
The minibot does a double take when he notices the other Rewind standing in the crowd down the sidewalk, optics growing wide with disbelief. He rubs his visor to try and clear it of any dust, even shutting his optics on and off to try and clear up any problems with his vision...... and the other Rewind is still standing there.
Rewind's hand instinctively flies up to turn on his camera, zooming in on the other mech, afraid that if he didn't record what he was seeing, he wouldn't be able to convince himself later on that he wasn't going crazy.
Slowly, nervously, Rewind approaches his counterpart.]
Who... who are you??
no subject
rewind can understand the other's confusion. the other him. he can even sympathize with it, because it sure is bizarre to hear your own voice coming from someone else's vocalizer, even if that someone else does look...exactly like you, save for being in a little better condition. rewind's finish is still battered and scraped, never having had much time to recover after the others had found him.
he at least has the benefit of knowing there was another rewind, though. not a fake or a copy, but...him, actually, him almost exactly, just a little...diverged. and that's probably why he reacts a little more calmly than his twin, although he's still pretty shaken overall. his own record light goes on almost without even really thinking about it, but he raises his hands to show he means no harm, shaking his head. ]
I'm -- well, I'm you. Or you're me. Sort of. ...I think so, anyway.

Seras Victoria || Hellsing
It looked like there was some sort of festival starting soon. She stood for a while, watching lanterns being carved before moving on to see about what else was going on around town. Time seemed to slip away from her and before she noticed, the sky had started to cloud up and it began to rain. It didn't bother her, but she didn't want to get sick. She wasn't sure if she could even get sick, but she didn't want to risk it.
So she stood under one of the awnings, smiling a little bit as the rain continued on.]
no subject
Lir...she is trying to stay dry! Don't do that.
[If Seras turns toward the voice, see will see a small dark haired boy standing there with a small blue creature in his arms.]
I'm sorry, Lady. He's just saying hi. Please don't be upset!
no subject
Oh wow, they were so cute, but she had never seen anything like that creature in his arms.]
It's ok. A few bubbles won't hurt. I was more startled than anything.
[She kneels down by him, not caring that the ground's a bit wet.]
What's someone your age wandering around this late? Do you need help getting home?
[The police girl was showing.]

Manolo Sánchez | The Book of Life
[Accompanying the sound of rain, anyone who decides to walk by one of the many awnings might hear the strumming of a guitar. It sounds like someone who got stuck in this dreary weather has decided to put on a show for anyone who wishes to wait the shower out with him.]
Did you stand there all alone?
Oooohh I cannot explain what's going down
I can see you standing next to me
In and out somewhere else right now
You sigh, look away
I can see it clear as day
Close your eyes, so afraid
Hide behind that baby face
Do do doooo do do doooo
You can go all night
Looking for the answers in the pouring rain
You wanna find peace of mind
Looking for the answer
[The strumming continues and it doesn't look like he's leaving anytime soon, in fact he looks more than happy to stay put and entertain the people who are coming and going.]
no subject
However, as he runs past a particular awning and hears music, he almost immediately stops to return to it. Music is more important than the possibility of catching the cold obviously. Marty waits for Manolo to finish singing before congratulate him. (He would also applaud but his arms are too busy holding up the jacket right now.)]
Wow, you're amazing!
no subject
Ah, thank you!
[His tempo increases until he finally stops for now, seeing as it looks like he's having a conversation. Sliding over slightly, he gestures towards Marty to move in closer under the awning so he doesn't have to keep holding his jacket up like that. It's the cuddle city, after all, he's got to start welcoming this...closeness.
Yes, he realizes he's kind of wide and takes up a lot of the space. He's trying.]
Please, you're more than welcome to join me.

That is, until she heard someone singing. That was another thing rare in the galaxy. You'd hear it occasionally in the local cantina, but with the Empire's clutches as tight as they were...
Music just didn't quite ring as clearly.
This, however, was different, and catches her attention as she looks to the side, under the awning.
What an interesting man...]
Hey, not bad...
[A hand goes to her hip as she looks at the shelter the awning gave, hurrying under to save herself from any more annoying droplets. It'd be a good place to clean her helmet, that's for sure.]
Good to know someone can keep their spirits up in this weather.
[But she figured she should at least give him something for that kind of performance. He seemed to deserve it, in her eyes. A hand goes into her pocket, pulling out a single credit from her homeworld. Sighing.]
Guess this won't do you much good. I don't think there's any exchange around here.
no subject
Oh, no, I cannot take this.
[His playing stops for now as he tries to return it to her, unsure what he'd even do with it. It's a kind gesture, certainly, but the last thing he needs is payment.]
I don't mean to offend you, but my music is free.
[The last thing he wants is to look like he's begging, especially considering he takes up so much of an already limited space. That's like, forced begging or something.]

That aside, Zeb's mood matches the dark clouds on account on getting caught in the lousy rain. And boy let him tell ya, the rain makes him wish he wasn't so fuzzy.
It's ironic, like rain on your wedding day. Or the good advice that you just didn't take.
But references aside, Zeb passes by to catch the singing. And while sure he's what one would consider one that appreciate of the arts, he has a sarcastic comment or three.]

Marty McFly | Back to the Future (CRAU)
[So guess who misinterpreted the "you need physical contact for survival" thing as a metaphor? Don't... don't ask, he thought it was another "Friendship is magic" thing.
So now he's moping around, feeling ill and not really paying much attention to anything. He's also murmuring to himself that he'll go back to bed soon. Maybe someone should talk to him before he runs into something.]

Negatives of Singsong: just about everything else. Is he gonna listen to anybody telling him to hug it out? Heck no at all. He's just gonna stomp on through, hands shoved in his Taranchula jacket, but he almost trips over some idiot not looking where he's going. He throws his hands up to push him away, too blinded by irritation to recognize Marty.]
Are you out of your mind? Look, you wanna go waltz into traffic, try that way.
[Shove. Hey, that's technically physical contact, right? Strong Bad is feeling smug. That's how he gets by, thinking it's enough.]

this derp | the thing where summon god souls
One minute he found himself feeling unwell just like how those who get suddenly touched by the sickness and then...darkness. Like there was no way out. And then he woke up in the Welcome Center with Banchou snoozing on his chest. There was no need to go back and talk with the natives about where he was, no, he needed to go find anyone who was still there and needed to know if they were around.
Anyone who would run into him would notice something...odd. Like a sudden group of cats following him to god knows where.
OPTION 1
Unfortunately, she only came to Saeng Seong with one outfit and that's only suited for the comfortably warm temperature of her home station. And well- Now she's staring disconsolately around a clothing shop. Everything is all... made for humans. With feet and arms and stuff.
Dejectedly she wraps a fluffy scarf around her neck. That's similar enough to Laheyla fashion, but it doesn't exactly cover enough to keep her warm.

Weird armless aliens were kinda rad too, although currently more weird than rad. Wow, that's definitely one of the weird looking aliens Spin's seen.
Spinister kind of just stares. This is possibly a bit rude.

Ludger Will Kresnik | Tales of Xillia 2
If there's one thing that Ludger can appreciate, it's the variety of different food and spices here in Saeng Seong. Many of them are ingredients he's never seen before, but that only gives him more determination to find out what mixes well together. Talking to the local people about their cuisine has also been insightful.
He just enjoys cooking and making dishes for people, especially ones that he cares about. If only Elle was here... but she's safe back in his world, hopefully. Jude and the others will take care of her now that he's 'dead' or whatever this is...
Stuck in his thoughts, Ludger doesn't pay attention to where he's walking until he bumps into someone, causing him to drop his bag of groceries to the ground.
"Sorry!"
