Test Drive Meme!
![]() Welcome to the Rekindle Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: |
Option 1 |
[The midsummer heat is still in full swing. But that's okay - enterprising residents on the riverbanks are renting out innertubes for you to float along the cool waters in. The catch? They're innertubes for two, and you're sharing with the person ahead of/behind you in line! Get nice and cozy, you two.] |
Option 2 |
[There's something odd about some of the shops in the third district. There doesn't seem to be any pattern - it's something that can be found in all sorts of establishments. But if you see the twin daisy sign in the window, it turns out that you can get a discount when making a purchase with someone else. It could be someone you know, or someone new entirely, but so long as you both reach the checkout at the same time, you get the discount - a pretty substantial one too! So hey, look and see if there's anyone else shopping with you! Could be a great way to stretch the allowance you've been given.] |
Option 3 |
[Even if there are no children among the natives, it doesn't stop the adults from being a little immature - or maybe the heat's just getting to them. If you glance around, you might notice almost-hidden baskets of water balloons, tucked under benches and against trash cans... If you didn't notice, though, it might be an awful surprise when one hits the back of your head. And when you whip around to look - well, it's probably not immediately obvious who the culprit is. Will you brush it off, yell and scream, or take revenge on the town at large?] |
Option 4 |
[Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] |
Option 5 |
[If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.] |

On a random street corner?
[This spot seems...out of the way for dragging water balloons.]
no subject
[It doesn't sound like the best reasoning, now that she says it out loud. Maybe...Maybe a change in conversation is in order? M'gann glances back at the new person, notes his appearance, looks for something to comment on-]
"Were you on your way to the barbershop?"
[...Oh yes. This introduction is truly off to a great start.]
/dying
WATWhat. At both the fact that she's using found water balloons and the hair comment. He should take offense, but the question is just random enough to throw him off a little.]
The barbershop?
She tries, she really does.
[She points to her hair, and almost debates making it a little rumpled and tousled to mimic his...Before deciding that no, she likes it quite well the way it is.]
"It just...I thought it looked like it needed a trim? And that's what you were out for, and why you were unhappy that you got soaked? I think that soaked hair wouldn't be great if you were going to get it cut,"
[Right. That's enough talking, M'gann forcefully tells herself, trying to give this new person room to get a word in.]
no subject
I cut my own hair.
[Well, when it got very long. He'd always kept it kind of messy, but the length was a more recent trend after a specific...incident.
He pulls a piece of paper out of his pocket and checks it for dampness. It happens to be a grocery list.]
no subject
[M'gann considers him again, before with no small amount of caution asking,]
"Would you...Like some help with that, then?"
[Because that's what she does! Help people! She's probably pretty good with scissors and hair too, even if she hasn't tried it before; how hard can it be? (Memories of this same plot happening a few dozen times on TV not withstanding. It just means she knows what mistakes to avoid!)
A little shuffle and M'gann's feet leave the ground, and leaves the water balloons behind. Instead she hovers a little closer to him and glances at the paper, just out of curiosity.]
no subject
You trying to be smart with me? What does it matter what my hair looks like?
[In his small outburst, he loses hold of his grocery list. It catches the breeze and floats towards M'gann.]
no subject
[First there's room for a bewildered blink and double-take. Followed by M'gann throwing up her hands with the widest pair of eyes possible as she protests.]
"No, no! That's not it at all! I just was-"
[Which is when the paper goes flying. By reflex, M'gann snaps her hand out, and snatches it out of the air before she can really process what she's doing. She needs to glance down at what she's holding in her hand before figuring out what happened, and jump starting her words.]
"Helping! Or...Trying to help, I mean. See?"
[She holds her hand out, paper included, and touches her feet back to the ground so she can walk the distance closer to him.]
no subject
You don't have to make up for the water balloon.
[If she sincerely wanted to help someone, he's certain there were other people more deserving of it.]
no subject
[Because you still look kind of cross, Shinji.
Never mind that you always look kind of cross.M'gann gives him a careful look, trying to make sure that he's really, really telling the truth.Judging by how she frowns, her search is inconclusive.]
"What if...I just wanted to help you, because? You know, because it's the nice thing to do?"
no subject
She reminds him of Minako in that she's extremely persistent. But unlike Minako, there is some shyness and uncertainty. Much like Fuuka; she wants to help but doesn't always do so in the way she planned.]
You should help people who deserve it.
no subject
[She feels obligated to point that out, crossing her arms. Maybe it's time to take a slightly more hardline stance? Since she doesn't have any cookies or the like to offer, it seems like the next best option.]
"I mean, it's...Not really one. And you seem ok?"
[A little scowly maybe, but time with Superboy has gotten M'gann used to that. Which reminds her of something else she could offer:]
"I could always help by cheering you up."
no subject
"We're strangers to each other." He doesn't know anything about her aside from the fact that she's able to fly and make other things do the same, and that her complexion isn't common at all. If she knew what he did, she probably wouldn't want to be anywhere near him.
no subject
"Oh! Well, that I can definitely do something about." M'gann offers him a hand like she's seen other people on Earth do. Though she's not fully sure if he'll take it or not. "I'm M'gann M'orzz. And you are?"
no subject
"Shinjiro Aragaki."
no subject
"Hey, they sort of sound alike, don't they? I mean, same number of beats and everything. That's kind of nice!"
