Test Drive Meme - November Edition
![]() Welcome to the Rekindle Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. Then don't forget to go reserve your character, GO GO GO....... |
Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: |
Option 1 |
[Wherever you were, whatever you were doing, it doesn't matter. All it takes is blinking, or stepping into a dark room before the lights are turned on. Anything to obscure your vision for a moment. Just a moment, but in that moment, a pull is felt, and suddenly, you are elsewhere. Just where that 'elsewhere' happens to be is something that needs to be figured out. It appears to be a busy city, though, so it shouldn't be too hard finding anyone at all! Feel free to explore, try to find answers, or just take a moment to catch your breath. Whatever it was that pulled you to this place left you feeling a tad disoriented.] |
Option 2 |
[Though the temperatures have been remarkably warm for the beginning of the season, the humidity has finally given way to a crisp, cool feeling in the air that is far more refreshing to those not used to a tropical or sub-tropical 'fall'. All of the stock is being rotated out of the Mall and Marketplace by the dutiful shop keepers - the bright colors and shorter cuts of summer clothing being replaced by the more muted, richer earth tones and the long sleeves of the proper season. In celebration of the start of the equivalent of 'fall' in the city, all the stores are holding a special - should you wish to purchase any new clothes for the shifting season and arrive at the counter with a friend, you get a discount! Perhaps you should find someone to purchase your items with...?] |
Option 3 |
[There is practically no warning for the change in the weather. One moment, the air is crisp and cool, and the skies only have a few clouds. The next moment, the skies have darkened and the clouds up above have opened up into a steady, unrelenting rainfall. Luckily, there seem to be a number of small shelters erected at even intervals along the streets. There seems to be enough room under those shelters for two to three people to stand - perhaps there's even someone standing under one now, waiting for the rain to pass. At least you'll have someone to talk to while you wait out the rain!] |
Option 4 |
[Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] |
Option 5 |
[If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.] |
Option 3 | Y'akeno Lhea (Archer Adventurer) | Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn
The sudden rainshowers and thunderstorms in her chosen city-state? Nooooot so much.
Ears flattening against her skull, the archer ducked under the first shop awning and shuddered. Cold and rainy. This was the most absolutely purrrrfect combination. Not. Though she does apologize if she accidentally bumped into you in her search for cover. ]
no subject
Yeah. Like a soaked cloak will work.
The figure shivers, and makes note of her sudden companion. The voice that comes from under said cloak is female, and her tone is one of mild irritation and... some almost-hidden confusion.] For both our sakes, I pray this weather ends swiftly.
[What. She's never seen a... 'whatever you are' before.]
no subject
She looks to her new companion in not taking pleasure of the wet, blinking for a moment as she is not used to hearing something different but still understanding. Nor is she fully used to duskwights (or who appear to have the telltale signs of dark grey skin and white hair) being so...civil. Aka not pointing a lance at some hapless whelp.
This is a welcomed change. ]
Aye, t'would be prrrefferable.
[ Yes. You heard that tribal lisp correctly. ]
no subject
She pauses. That lisp was... dare she even think it, almost adorable. The not-quite-purr lisp n combination with the very prominent feline ears and tail that her companion is sporting, a person with a lesser will or level of self control would be hard-pressed to clamp down on the urge to 'pet the kitty'.
Thankfully, she is not among their number. ... Nor is she a child, who would also be hard-pressed to resist trying to reach up and scratch those prominent ears.
At least her companion is being civil. Or at least, isn't questioning her cloak or other choices in attire.
... now, the hard part. Small talk. Her tone takes on a lighter feel, almost humorous.] Much as I detest this cold rain, I do not mind the cloud cover. I can see the path in front of me without getting dizzy.
[The drawbacks of being part of a race that can see heat signatures and is used to pitch darkness - she'll always see better at night than during daylight hours.]
no subject
I take it ye've rrrarely left yer caverns?
[ She simply smirks a little, knowing that her race's Keeper cousins have a similar problem outside of the forest's shade... ]
I jest, of courrrse...
no subject
A light laugh, and she continues on.] One does not simply go from detecting the heat signatures of the living to the brightness of the sun's light so easily.
[She'd thought she would burn alive, that first day in the sun.]
no subject
[ At least you did not nearly stub a toe in your first dungeon like that hyur who didn't know to flash his dagger in the face of an orobon. ]
no subject
Her confusion is evident.] I... must admit, you have me at a disadvantage. I have never encountered one of your kind in my travels.
[But she'll try to press on with the conversation, despite her embarrassment. She's now a bit curious.]
no subject
You've never met a miqo'te? [ must be a different world thing ] Miqo'te are divided by two clans. Seekers like meself worrrship the sun.
[ ...sigh ] Pray forrrgive my accent. It tends to show when I'm frrreezing.
no subject
[Miqo'te? Not the name of any surface race she has heard of, either. She thought she had paid attention in her studies...
'Seekers worship the sun... which would mean Keepers prefer the night, if her comments about them having trouble in daylight hold true.' Interesting...
She smiles a little, managing to look embarrassed.] It's possible that your kind dwell in other parts of Faerun - my travels tend to center around the Sword Coast.
[Ahh... so the emphasis on the 'r' sound isn't on purpose. That makes quite a bit of sense.] You need not apologize - it's a miracle I'm not having trouble with words myself.
[Brrr... cold rains suck. But it looks like it's lightened up somewhat. Perhaps enough to make a run for the nearest tavern/inn/whatever the local equivalent to the Purple Dragon was.] Perhaps we should continue our conversation indoors? I would very much like to hear more about your people.
[She knows her curiosity is showing, but... a civil conversation, with a member of a race she hadn't heard of and who isn't judging her based on appearance alone? She definitely wants to continue this.]
no subject
[ now it's her turn to look perplexed, a fist automatically going to her chin. ]
I'm afraid I never hearrrd of such a land in any realm. [ and she's been to a lot of not just Eorzea, but her country as well. ] But you may have a point. Let us continue this inside. Thankfully this establishment appears to be open.
[ she'll even hold the door open for her new drow friend! c: ]
