Welcome to the Rekindle Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. Then don't forget to go reserve your character in a week when they open. Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: Option 1 [While the days grow longer and warmer and the older, oriental-style of the city would normally make one think that the interiors would not be much in the way of relief from the hot sun, it may surprise the guest to see that the apartments the natives have allocated for them are surprisingly comfortable. In fact, the only modern convenience they may be missing is a television set! At least, outside the media floor on the first floor of Building One - the first of four inter-connected buildings. In fact, each apartment building seems to have at least one different amenity on the first floor. In Building Two they seemed to even spare a library in another that seems to have the basics and some information packets that are otherwise found in the Welcome Center in District 2. There are even a few restaurants and common dining areas in the Building Three that are open until late at night, and meeting areas and a ballroom on the first floor in Building Four, perfect for setting up small parties or big events. With the locals gone save those who work in the restaurants and the one librarian, leaving you to your own devices, what will you do? What mysteries could be left to discover in this place?] Option 2 [With summer coming, the water level in the river is starting to go down, exposing some of the beach. The Riverside Shack is open late, and its restaurant is pulling out all the stops and offering seafood specials (even though a river is a far cry from an ocean). The rental store, meanwhile, is finally bringing out more of its swimming supplies, inner tubes and pool noodles, and a calmer stretch of the river has been roped off with buoys for swimming. They even have lifeguards chairs set up. Clearly this sort of thing used to be an annual event. It's not quite an ocean beach (quite different actually), but there's still plenty of chance to have fun in the water. Or teach someone to swim, perhaps.] Option 3 [If you're more inclined to explore or learn, the City's Learning Center might be more to your tastes. There certainly seems to be a lot going on here - there's laboratories and libraries and workshops, and plenty of communal areas where you can meet and talk with people. The natives seem pretty absorbed with their studies and work, though they're polite in brushing you off, at least. Perhaps you'll have more luck seeing what other Guests such as yourself have discovered?] Option 4 [Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] Option 5 [If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.]

[It may be Sora's memories, but this Roxas has experienced much more than Twilight Town; this place seems to have ripped him out of Sora once more, after Riku and Sora had battled Xemnas and returned home. Directionless, he's been looking for ways to return, and you were the last person he expected to find here.]

How are you here? [His tone is a bit more firm, hands curling into fists at his sides.] I've been here for days. What's going on? Where's Sora?

There's a bit of amusement in her gaze. Clearly, this was someone who was strong-willed. Likely a skilled warrior type, if rough around the edges (sigh; why does she always come across the stubborn ones?).]

There are a few restaurants just down the road.

[Unfortunately for Toul, Pai is impossible to wake up when she's in the middle of making her payment. She'll wake up soon, once her payment is complete, but for right now, Toul's gentle nudge and polite words have no effect.]

[Mani shakes trying to dry herself, the metal collar around her neck shining where it caught in the sun.]

[But-! Who is she and why did she call him a jerk?]

[But she does have a point: being with someone is a lot better than by yourself in this situation.]

So absorbed is she in her reading, Rapunzel doesn’t even glance up at the person that she is rapidly approaching. It’s a good read; fiction and fantasy combined – some story about a princess and a prince and happily ever afters that has enraptured her and swept her mind entirely away from the present.

At least, until she walks into someone.

Rapunzel meeps softly as she feels herself collide with a form that’s warm and solid. Stumbling back a step she looks up, hazel eyes wide and confused for a moment.

“Oh —I’m so sorry! Are you alright? I just got so caught up in this that I didn’t see you.”

[Toul laughs again there.] Just Toul is fine. I'm not even married!

[She holds the ball out that she has in her hands.] Volleyball was the game I wanted to play, but you need more than one person. Would you be interested?

[Sora's sitting back on the "beach", looking out over all the people here, and marveling at the fact that everyone seems to have settled in so quickly. She, herself, misses home a little... but then, if she remembered correctly, she couldn't be too homesick, or bad things would happen.

...Not that she was being particularly social at this moment. She was content to just watch, and feel the warmth of the sun. But she's not turning anyone away.]

[What she'd been doing before, she didn't quite remember. All she knew was that the sunflower she'd been riding inside of had flickered, and despite all attempts to stabilize it with more magic, had failed, dumping her over soft earth in a park, where she rolled to a stop. A quick check revealed nothing broken, a few bruises... and a desire to put her hands down and stop checking, as she felt a little feverish, and oddly tired.

As she starts to pull herself up, she finds it exhausting, and she settles for laying back against a tree. When someone comes by, she looks up.]

Hi... this is awkward.

[There's a redhead sitting on a bench, looking down at a ring on her hand, three brightly colored strands of metal - one each in cherry blossom pink, ocean blue, and sunny yellow - twisted into an odd statement. She smiles down as she touches it lightly.]

Sorry, girls... it might be a while before I get home. Wait for me, okay? I've... got something else I have to do now, it looks like. But I'll be back, I promise... but I'll miss you until then.

[The fact that she doesn't wake up when she nudges her worries Toul a little. She shakes her shoulder a bit more forcefully and still nothing. What if she's unconscious and not just sleeping? What is something is wrong with her and she needs help? Toul doesn't know anything about her, but the fact she won't wake up makes her wonder if she should try to find the nearest healer as soon as possible.

She reaches out to check her pulse and then her breathing to see if it's obstructed.]

Oh, miss, do please wake up!

[Mani sees the white haired human fall and dashes over to his side. but doesn't touch him, she doesn't know if she should or not. The people here said she should but her training said she shouldn't.]

Sir? Sir are you okay?

[Mani cocks her head to the side as she takes the ball and looks at it.] What's Vollyball?

He had been walking through the park, slowly, when the strange flower had come out of nowhere and deposited its burden before him.

He raised his eyebrow, but out of all the strange things here this was at least moderately familiar. Just another bit of metahuman hijinx.

"Indeed." He said simply, extending one old and shaking hand to try and help her up as best he could. However, he did brace himself for the possibility that this was some kind of trick to lure him in.

[Pai has just finished paying her price and is ready to wake up when she feels a hand at her throat. Her own hand flashes out instinctively to grab it. The skin of her hand will feel unusually warm against Toul's, as Pai is ready to use her ability to attack if it proves necessary.

Toul is fortunate that, ruthless as the young girl is, she's never been of the "kill first, assess the threat later" persuasion.]

[ That seems. Strange. Even for a cat fox whatever person. ]

It takes the fairy a moment to realize she is the one being talked to. So once she figures that out, she spins around to face the armored woman. At first she seems hesitant to reply back, but then she just smiles and holds her hands behind her, wings fluttering a little bit.

"It is! It's better then school! But why are you in all that stuff? You can't get in the water like that!"

Cirno meant the armor but could not quite remember what it was called. She just tilts her head to the side for a moment. She would probably ask in a bit. Besides, the water was nice and she couldn't freeze it by being near or in it. So why be all bundled up?

[ Oh wait what someone actually answered? Heck yeah! ]

Yeah, you! You look tall enough. Do you think you could give me a lift?

[ While definitely tall enough, the question of whether or not the other girl is strong enough comes up. AH WELL guess they'll figure it out! ]

You have a--[She pauses because she realizes something.]--Well, we don't have a net, but we draw a court in the sand and then a line straight down the middle to use in place of the net, and then you volley the ball back and forth over it at each other.

You try to aim for places on the other side of the court that the other player can get to because it it hits the ground inside the court and they can't volley it back to you, then you win a point!

[Toul is surprised and jerks back a bit. The hand is rather warm, but she's met reptile types who have rather cold hands, so she tries not to make as big a deal of it despite the fact it really isn't pleasant.] Oh goodness, you are all right. [There's a sigh of relief.]

Miss, sleeping in a chair is very bad for your back, you know. Are you all right?

[Mani will keep petting the cat for as long as it's willing to get her. She might be tempted to pick him up even.]

[ It's an innocent enough question. She truly is curious as to why he's decided to plant himself there and not in one of the several other more comfortable locations around.

Instead of pushing it further though, she plops right down next to him without warning. Because, hey, why not? That's what this city was doing, right? Trying to bring people together? Dude shouldn't have to sit by his lonesome. ]

[Luckily for Ion, it's not very long before someone familiar comes along. Or, well - maybe that was "unluckily," because as soon as this was sorted out, Ion could definitely expect a lecture about taking better care of himself.

Regardless, he'll hear a slightly panicked-sounding voice - ]

[ - followed by footsteps, and then a moment later Anise is knelt down next to him, an arm around his shoulders to help steady him and a concerned expression on her face.]

What happened? What hurts? Do you need me to take you to the hospital?

[Sure, illness was par for the course when dealing with the Fon Master - but they were in an unfamiliar environment. It was better to be safe than sorry.]

He was talking to him. He couldn't be real but when Legolas closes his eyes to will the vision away, he didn't disappear. And he sounded so real. It was amazing how much could be taken from his memory and recreated so flawlessly. Why? He still had no idea why. Why Thranduil and not one of the Wise? Or Haldir?

"My lord..."

Suddenly he felt like he might be sick, hand reaching out for something to support him and reminding himself that none of this can be real.

[ Maybe you were trying to relax at the edge of the water, or hoping for a quiet day in the sun. Maybe you were just here to check it out.

Either way, any semblance of peace and quiet is being ruined by some REALLY EXCITED GUY struggling to remove his clothes(or most of them) so he can get to the water quicker. Curiously, he doesn't remove the heavy bronze bell-and-tassel collar. ]
