Welcome to the Rekindle Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. Then don't forget to go reserve your character in a week when they open. Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: Option 1 [While the days grow longer and warmer and the older, oriental-style of the city would normally make one think that the interiors would not be much in the way of relief from the hot sun, it may surprise the guest to see that the apartments the natives have allocated for them are surprisingly comfortable. In fact, the only modern convenience they may be missing is a television set! At least, outside the media floor on the first floor of Building One - the first of four inter-connected buildings. In fact, each apartment building seems to have at least one different amenity on the first floor. In Building Two they seemed to even spare a library in another that seems to have the basics and some information packets that are otherwise found in the Welcome Center in District 2. There are even a few restaurants and common dining areas in the Building Three that are open until late at night, and meeting areas and a ballroom on the first floor in Building Four, perfect for setting up small parties or big events. With the locals gone save those who work in the restaurants and the one librarian, leaving you to your own devices, what will you do? What mysteries could be left to discover in this place?] Option 2 [With summer coming, the water level in the river is starting to go down, exposing some of the beach. The Riverside Shack is open late, and its restaurant is pulling out all the stops and offering seafood specials (even though a river is a far cry from an ocean). The rental store, meanwhile, is finally bringing out more of its swimming supplies, inner tubes and pool noodles, and a calmer stretch of the river has been roped off with buoys for swimming. They even have lifeguards chairs set up. Clearly this sort of thing used to be an annual event. It's not quite an ocean beach (quite different actually), but there's still plenty of chance to have fun in the water. Or teach someone to swim, perhaps.] Option 3 [If you're more inclined to explore or learn, the City's Learning Center might be more to your tastes. There certainly seems to be a lot going on here - there's laboratories and libraries and workshops, and plenty of communal areas where you can meet and talk with people. The natives seem pretty absorbed with their studies and work, though they're polite in brushing you off, at least. Perhaps you'll have more luck seeing what other Guests such as yourself have discovered?] Option 4 [Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] Option 5 [If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.]

[Hopefully Mami won't mind when someone takes her gently by the elbows and rights her as best he can. Kaworu's presence is mellow and vague, and he touches her with no sense of urgency, although he isn't smiling.] My, [he says,] that was quite the falter.

Well Cirno paying attention did get better at the school but at the moment- Nope. So when she is tackled by the ball of darkness, her first thought is to freak out a little bit. Her lack of cold aura except around her wings slightly would probably be highly noticeable.

But..this was familiar...It took her a moment to remember as she had just gotten that memory back before Rakuen started taking them all away and her eyes widen in recognition and shock. She knew this person and they might actually know her, even thought something about her made her head hurt still. She's going to throw her arms around her in a tight hug because if so, oh dear everything, she missed her friends from home.

"RUMIA! Is it really you? Are you really here?"

[The splashing catches her attention, and her eyes widen a little in surprise to see Ember falling beneath the surface. Thankfully he resurfaces a few moments later, but it's still a good moment of panic.

At his word, she bows her head in apology, breathing and heart rate returning to normal.]

I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle you.

[The way River drifts is nice; Kaworu thinks it would go well with faint string music. He watches her a little, because people-watching is another nice thing, with his hands in his pockets and his head tilted like his smile. Finally - for no reason other than he'd suddenly wondered - he calls to her,] Is that a dance?

Ha? A fu dog.

[The voice startles Ion, and sends his heart beating faster. Not because it frightens him...but because he recognizes the voice itself and not the words that comes with it. Seven? When had Luke ever called him Seven?

He looks at the redhead, confusion written all over his face. Even more perplexing...Luke hadn't known Ion was a replica until after he had cut his hair. So how--and what was he wearing?]

L-Luke...?

[He didn't mean to stammer, and by his tone of voice it's clear he doesn't think that this is Luke at all. He simply...doesn't know who else it could be, as he has no other known options to choose from.

Even so, he doesn't flinch away or protest at the hands that have come out to support him. If anything, they're comforting.]

That's very adventurous of you, Shinji-kun, [Kaworu says from behind. His shoes are muddy from the bank, which he doesn't think is a bad thing, and he calls to Shinji as though they were never apart at all. Don't hold it against him; he doesn't realize that ghosting around like that might be highly inconsiderate. As far as he's concerned, they're both in the same place right now, so isn't that nice enough?]

[He shakes his head a bit to free the water dripping out of his hair, sending water droplets everywhere.]

It's alright, I'm fine... Geez, how long were you down there?

[ Oh, a lab facility, that explains pretty much everything. Steph kicks idly around the roped off area. ]

You should come in, the water's great! And you can drop the ma'am.

[Thank Lorelei. Ion didn't want to sound desperate...but it was good to see her. It made him a bit less nervous--and honestly--

Before he can help it, he's leaning gratefully into her, head practically resting on her shoulder.]

No...I'm fine. I'm sorry for worrying you I just started to get a bit dizzy. I think I just need to rest a little.

[And honestly, just her having her arm around him in support was beginning to alleviate some of the lighter symptoms. Already, his knees began to cease their shaking.]

[ Weather as it was and his time management as it was, Dick never got to visit the beaches much during his brief time in Chicago. Considering there wasn't much to do here, at least when it came to his usual activities, he figured he could afford to spend some time relaxing. This might have been the first time he ever let himself relax since... Well, since things went to a new level of hell in Gotham.

So he'll probably be at the beach all, if not most of the day. He'll be burning off energy in the water, stretching and practicing some of his acrobatics on the shore, or just relaxing in the sand and working on a tan. ]

[She's catching her breath when she hears it and her heart stops.

She remembers standing at the edge of the docks in Luca and whistling for what seemed like hours, hoping against hope that he'd somehow be able to answer her call.

More than one person can whistle of course, but the sound is so familiar... She's terrified to look. Terrified to be wrong. She watched him disappear. Watched him dive into the light of Sin vanishing to the Farplane. She's never been able to go to the Farplane in Guadosalam to see if he was there. But if it is him.

She turns around, eyes tightly closed, kicking harder to keep herself afloat in the deeper water. She puts a damp hand to her mouth just like he taught her, and whistles back. And then she opens them.]

[Anise looks a little startled when his head hits her shoulder. She tightens her hold on him and shifts a bit so that she can wrap her other arm around him as well.]

Right. I've got you - rest all you need.

[She didn't think there was anything really dangerous around here, but she'd shield him from anything, regardless.]

[Luke's still reeling from the situation he's been dropped in. One minute he was getting settled into his new home with his family, the next he's been kidnapped to some other strange city and his family is no where in sight. Granted this city didn't seem like it was dangerous, but he didn't trust it one bit.

As he's walking down the streets, he starts feeling a little woozy. He thinks he might be from nerves from being lost and alone in a new city, but it starts getting worse and he has to sit down to keep himself from tripping over his feet.]

[Badou hasn't seen a beach in a while.

Actually, the city has a lot of things he hasn't seen in a while. Like friendly people and clean air and not-rancid food. Badou is only half-sure that he's high--something that hasn't happened in a while--but while he's on this trip, he may as well ride it out. He just hopes he doesn't wake up in a trash can somewhere.

Badou's got his pants rolled up and sandals stuffed in his pockets. Hopefully smoking is allowed on his beach as much as it is to wear a giant camouflage-printed parka. He's very stylish, thank you.]

[Luckily for Ion, Ember has already gone through this confusion once, so it won't take too long to figure out.]

No, it's Ember, but whatever. Are you alright?

[He doesn't really wait for an answer before letting Ion's weight lean on him, however much the boy needs to help himself up.]

[That's when a small boy with peculiar hair crosses your path, noting that Luke didn't look so well.]

Ano...Are you okay?

[He peered at him curiously, a bit sheepish to disturb him so openly but he hoped he was alright. He'd just sat down in the middle of the street hadn't he? That wasn't normal.]

[(Mama instincts. Don't ignore the call, Lulu.)

He clears his throat, giving a slow nod as he runs a hand through his hair.]

Right. [You should probably walk him. For now, he'll make it to the sidewalk, though not without a bit of a wobble.]

Who are you?

I-I don't know, I feel kind of sick...

[He lifts his head and wow okay that wasn't such a good idea. He'll just keep his eyes on the ground until everything stops spinning.]

[It was largely true that while he possessed the puzzle he was not exactly as aware of his situation as it might seem. He has seen an amount of weird things since obtaining the Puzzle but it wasn't exactly on par with a cat that spoke.]

Neko...shabetta. Henna....

[He nearly yelped when the voice came from the cat. It's not everyday he comes across a talking cat, after all! Yuugi was mumbling to himself in Japanese but tried to recover. Given all the legends in Japanese folklore and their culture being steeped in mystical or magical aspects, you'd think he'd be used to things like this but he's still he's staring wide-eyed.]

A-ah....Ano...How come you can talk?

[ He didn't expect anyone to approach him. He's used to city foot traffic, after all, where one regular Joe hanging out on the curb is lost in the hustle and bustle of hundreds of pairs of feet and a few cars trying to navigate the hub-bub. But that's not the case here, is it?

And the interested party is a woman. A fella he could just growl at to mind his own beeswax but a dame... Ladon just hopes none of his scales are showing yet. ]

Just. Havin' a smoke, yeah? People get in a lather when I go lightin' up inside for some reason. [ Second hand smoke? The hell is that? ]

I see--I'm sorry for the confusion, Ember.

[Not that he's any less confused, himself, but he doesn't want to be rude. And he doesn't have a particularly long time to think about it before he's suddenly falling over like a tipped domino into Ember's fluffy-collared shoulder.

He couldn't help it--but of course, as soon as he's against the older teen, he makes an effort to stand up more on his own. At least this boy looks like Luke. That makes the whole ordeal feel less awkward.

Though, he's still embarrassed to have gotten to this point in the first place. Fortunately, it seems as if it won't take much time at all for his strength to return.

He smiles apologetically.]

I'll be okay. I apologize for the inconvenience [He pauses.]...but, um, if you don't mind me asking...how do we know each other?

[Ion was trying to figure out the connection. Obviously this Ember wasn't just a look-alike. He seemed to know Ion, after all, even though Ion couldn't say the same. But he hadn't heard of there being another replica...

In the end, it seemed the less painful option to just ask.]

[The touch of his skin was cool and oddly...oddly comforting, but out of place and completely unnecessary. Or at least he'd tell himself, were he to think upon it. He jerked back, but...at least the minimal contact had unwittingly helped.]

[Man, he's an idiot.

He's a huge idiot, he thought things would be fine. Just fine! Because nothing bad seemed to be happening so far, right? Maybe he slipped up somewhere, didn't give enough pats on the back. Something....

Because right now Sera just can't do it. Wherever he was going, it. Can. Wait, because he needs to sit down before he keels over. Wouldn't be the first time he's overexerted himself - but that's the problem, why didn't he learn? ... Well, feeling like a wild cold's coming on is different from spraining an ankle.

But it still sucks! So he'll complain! Loudly!]

Haaaa... this suuuucks....

[So there you'll find him, steadily tipping over to just... lie down on this bench here for a while. Yeah.]

Rumia nods, although Cirno probably can't see through the darkness surrounding her. She returns the hug and giggles a little. She was a little surprised that her friend was here, but it was a good surprise. She makes a little confused sound when Cirno asks if it's really her and if she's really there.

"I think so? I think there's only one me."
