Welcome to the Rekindle Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. Then don't forget to go reserve your character in a week when they open. Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: Option 1 [While the days grow longer and warmer and the older, oriental-style of the city would normally make one think that the interiors would not be much in the way of relief from the hot sun, it may surprise the guest to see that the apartments the natives have allocated for them are surprisingly comfortable. In fact, the only modern convenience they may be missing is a television set! At least, outside the media floor on the first floor of Building One - the first of four inter-connected buildings. In fact, each apartment building seems to have at least one different amenity on the first floor. In Building Two they seemed to even spare a library in another that seems to have the basics and some information packets that are otherwise found in the Welcome Center in District 2. There are even a few restaurants and common dining areas in the Building Three that are open until late at night, and meeting areas and a ballroom on the first floor in Building Four, perfect for setting up small parties or big events. With the locals gone save those who work in the restaurants and the one librarian, leaving you to your own devices, what will you do? What mysteries could be left to discover in this place?] Option 2 [With summer coming, the water level in the river is starting to go down, exposing some of the beach. The Riverside Shack is open late, and its restaurant is pulling out all the stops and offering seafood specials (even though a river is a far cry from an ocean). The rental store, meanwhile, is finally bringing out more of its swimming supplies, inner tubes and pool noodles, and a calmer stretch of the river has been roped off with buoys for swimming. They even have lifeguards chairs set up. Clearly this sort of thing used to be an annual event. It's not quite an ocean beach (quite different actually), but there's still plenty of chance to have fun in the water. Or teach someone to swim, perhaps.] Option 3 [If you're more inclined to explore or learn, the City's Learning Center might be more to your tastes. There certainly seems to be a lot going on here - there's laboratories and libraries and workshops, and plenty of communal areas where you can meet and talk with people. The natives seem pretty absorbed with their studies and work, though they're polite in brushing you off, at least. Perhaps you'll have more luck seeing what other Guests such as yourself have discovered?] Option 4 [Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] Option 5 [If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.]

[A cat. Of all things, it would be a cat. On the one hand there is no question of having to beg permission from the others here of a cat most likely. On the other..Javert sighs, looking down at the cat when he hears the meow.]

A question of death or one of dignity. I take it you would not mind.

[And he is bending to at least scratch its ears a bit. He does not entirely mind cats at least, so there is that.]

She let out a sigh of relief and smiled as she gazed at the older man, smiling gently. Knowing someone was going to help her eased her considerably.

"Oh sir, thank you very much. I am terribly lost, yes. I was just exploring but I don't know how to get back to the apartment building and no one was telling me!" she shared her plight. "Would you know how to get back?"

[Another stubborn one. There seems to be far too many of Kratos's type wandering around this city. The shy, the aloof, the crotchety. All of them are in dire danger if they keep this up. Luckily, there is a cat present. Everyone likes cats, and surely there's no loss of pride in petting or hugging an animal.]

[Hence, Yoruichi pads casually into the shade, as if the feline owns it all. There's no hesitation, just a purring headbutt against Kratos's leg. Go on. Pet the kitty. You know you want to.]

[Fun. Ai, how long had it been since he put any effort toward having fun?]

[Swimming closer to the shore and looking at the hobbit curiously. And then suddenly splashing him before swimming back.]

[ Being called up and whisked away to a new city was nothing unusual for Rose. Though it was usually to follow a band somewhere she didn't mind traveling just to travel either. Saeng Seong is a quaint little place, too, and she was happy to check it out upon arrival.

She's explored just about everywhere she physically can but now she's interested in a different view of the city. Those passing by may catch her trying to scale the side of one of the restaurants from the alleyway. However, she's failing quite miserably. Those walls are a lot slicker than they look! ]

Hey. Hey, you! Give me a boost, will ya? Please? [ It's called out to people who happen to be walking close by. She's getting quite a few strange looks but she's determined to get on top of one of these buildings. ]

XD Yes, perfectly okay!

[Smaller, and also a completely different person, despite the appearance.

And he is totally unprepared to be shoved at, and barely manages to notice that there's someone behind him before he's headed towards the water face first, with an appropriate startled yelp.

It takes him a minute to reorient himself and pull himself out of the water before he yells at Kairi.]

[Ember at least had the sense to strip down to just his pants before actually going swimming - he's down to just that and the green stone pendant hanging around his neck, now, as he kicks awkwardly through the water. Even if he doesn't have very much swimming experience, he's enjoying himself -

Up until Yuna's head suddenly pops out of the water nearby. Then he sputters and flails for a moment, his head dipping under before he kicks himself back to the surface.]

W-whoa, where did you come from...

[She's never been to an actual beach before.

It's not really a beach, honestly, but it's the closest thing that's available. The sight is surreal, as is her very existence here, and she wavers on approaching the shore. Maybe if she goes to touch it, it'll just turn into paper and colored wax, just another fake memory. But everything seems real enough and Naminé can't really stop her curiosity from getting the best of her.

She wanders out towards the water, stopping only once to take off her sandals and carry them with her as she goes.]

[In response, Yoruichi purrs. The gold eyes close, and the cat tips its head back to better enjoy the skritching. There are perks to providing an ample source of affection, after all. No, the cat does not mind the attention one little bit, tail erect, back arched.]

[The cat may even choose to speak later, but not until Yoruichi is certain that doing so wouldn't break the poor man's mind. Let him deal with something stranger than talking cats first, then they can have a chat.]

[There's a cat. Just sitting there. PEERING AT YOU. It sits primly, tail curled around its paws as the tip twitches to and fro. After a moment or two of unblinking observation, the cat rises on all fours and pads forward calm as you please, back arched and head tipped back. Attention WILL be given, naturally?]

[Pippin had not been expecting that! He bursts into sputtering laughter, scrambling further back, but not in time to keep his whole lower half from getting liberally splashed.]

Hey! Warn a fellow, next time!

[He doesn't sound all that upset, Legolas. Pippin is, after all, a playful sort. But to get him back he'd have to get all the way in....]

[And there's another one. Really, someone should hold a seminar. It wouldn't take more than thirty seconds to bluntly state 'it's better to hug than to DIE, and we're all in the same hugging boat, so stop being stubborn.' Yoruichi huffs out a breath. Some of these folks are shy, so Yoruichi can't be too hard on them. One way or another, they'll learn. Until then, there will always be a small black cat on hand.]

[Like right now. Yoruichi offers no hesitation whatsoever, tilting into an angle to rub alongside Georgia's arm and purr like a little motorboat.]

And no need to "sir" me! You can call me Yogi! I'm with Circus, but you probably don't know who that is!"

She blinks, uncertain what to do with the gesture from the little beast. "Hey," she says shakily. One had moves to pet the cat gently. "Who you do belong to?"

[OOC: Just in case I missed anyone. Human Yoruichi available upon request, but more likely to appear around castmates who already know the secret. Yoruichi might be looking for 4's, but all are welcome to have a black cat cross his or her path.]

[Cats seem to stroll about like they own the town. While that's not the case for Yoruichi, there's definitely a mindset that the majority of the newbies in this place aren't going to survive without the cat there to go rub up on them and keep them marginally healthy. What would this town do without such a useful kitty? Curl up and die, no doubt.]

[As such, Yoruichi is on a mission to seek out those who look a little pale and under the weather. The cat has no intention to serve as a constant crutch, and those who repeatedly show signs of withdrawal are going to receive a stern lecture, and possibly a scratched face. If it breaks someone's brain to see a cat talk, so be it. Better than seeing them waste away because they think hugs are icky.]

[It's a cat, of course it won't speak. Not that Yata hadn't seen strange animals before. For some reason, he reaches out his hand for the cat.]

Well, come here. I don't have any food, if you're hoping for a snack.

The cat doesn't respond. Naturally Georgia doesn't expect the cat to talk, does she?

...Of course, if she did expect as much, she'd be entirely correct, but Yoruichi is more concerned with protecting Georgia's sanity than answering a rhetorical question.

The cat arches into the petting, winding back and forth beneath her hand and purring up a storm. Well. It DOES feel nice.

[A well-dressed gentleman stares back, his lip curling in distaste at the sign. He narrows his eyes, and ensures he's standing at a safe distance. One can never be too careful.]

[Hey look, it's a strange redhead, his pants hiked up as he splashes through the water - but seeing the girl hovering nervously by the shore, he slows to a stop.

At least he has enough sense to know that splashing tiny girls is rude? Especially when they already look kind of scared.]

[She shouldn't be in this place...not when the world back home was falling apart. There was no time to rest and Natalia was fine with that, knowing there would be a moment to do so. But on second thought...a nice break would help. Lorelei knows that she did kind of deserve it.

But unlike anyone who would just jump in, she instead decided to take off her shoes and stick her feet in the water.]

[Atta boy. Yoruichi ignores the remark about food (for it's very easy for Yoruichi to get plenty of the best), instead zeroing in on the outstretched hand. Just before reaching Yata's fingertips, the cat bows its head, butting up beneath Yata's palm to glide underneath for a good long stroke along its furry back. Then Yoruichi doubles back for another round, purring in open satisfaction.]

[ What we have here is what appears to be a seven-foot-tall, very scrawny doll made all out of patchwork pieces like a quilt. He sounds quietly like the ticking and whirring of clockwork gears as he moves, however, and when he brushes aside his yarn "hair" to see Yogi's sign better, his eyes are engraved copper orbs.

The magicked cloth of his face moves as naturally as any person's, despite the patchwork nature of it, and after reading said sign he smiles wide and eagerly. There's a little gap in his grin where one of his mother-of-pearl teeth is missing. ]

I have a sign just like that back at home! [ is his happy exclamation, even if technically the brightly colored sign he has says 'Equalty For All', misspelling and everything. He throws his skinny arms wide to welcome the offered hug. ] What an excellent idea!

[ Careful, with all the copper insides, he's only half as soft as he looks. ]

[Lee looks even more amused at the name, but he accepts the hug with grace, anyway.]

I ain't anybody's grandpa, son.

And I ain't no bunny.

[The second voice comes from, strangely enough, the hare on his shoulder, who had studiously avoided any part of Yogi brushing against her.]

I'm Lee. Jest an aeronaut, though I'm kinda missin' my balloon 'round here, so yeah. Kinda surprised t'be wherever here is, t'be honest. That's Hester, as I guess she's made pretty clear.

[A thumb jerks at the hare, Hester, who twitches her ears and looks self-possessed.]
