Welcome to the Rekindle Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. Then don't forget to go reserve your character in a week when they open. Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: Option 1 [While the days grow longer and warmer and the older, oriental-style of the city would normally make one think that the interiors would not be much in the way of relief from the hot sun, it may surprise the guest to see that the apartments the natives have allocated for them are surprisingly comfortable. In fact, the only modern convenience they may be missing is a television set! At least, outside the media floor on the first floor of Building One - the first of four inter-connected buildings. In fact, each apartment building seems to have at least one different amenity on the first floor. In Building Two they seemed to even spare a library in another that seems to have the basics and some information packets that are otherwise found in the Welcome Center in District 2. There are even a few restaurants and common dining areas in the Building Three that are open until late at night, and meeting areas and a ballroom on the first floor in Building Four, perfect for setting up small parties or big events. With the locals gone save those who work in the restaurants and the one librarian, leaving you to your own devices, what will you do? What mysteries could be left to discover in this place?] Option 2 [With summer coming, the water level in the river is starting to go down, exposing some of the beach. The Riverside Shack is open late, and its restaurant is pulling out all the stops and offering seafood specials (even though a river is a far cry from an ocean). The rental store, meanwhile, is finally bringing out more of its swimming supplies, inner tubes and pool noodles, and a calmer stretch of the river has been roped off with buoys for swimming. They even have lifeguards chairs set up. Clearly this sort of thing used to be an annual event. It's not quite an ocean beach (quite different actually), but there's still plenty of chance to have fun in the water. Or teach someone to swim, perhaps.] Option 3 [If you're more inclined to explore or learn, the City's Learning Center might be more to your tastes. There certainly seems to be a lot going on here - there's laboratories and libraries and workshops, and plenty of communal areas where you can meet and talk with people. The natives seem pretty absorbed with their studies and work, though they're polite in brushing you off, at least. Perhaps you'll have more luck seeing what other Guests such as yourself have discovered?] Option 4 [Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] Option 5 [If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.]

[He moves back a bit to allow her room to move so they can start their own exploration.]

In these apartments. I woke up pretty dizzy, yeah? I'm still kinda feelin' off, but we're in a new place, it might just be that.

[He waits until she's all ready to go before moving.]

Then I decided to look around a bit then I ran into you.

What about you?

[She nods to indicate that her experience was the same...except she spent more time wailing at a houseplant. She tips her head back, pushing her fingers through her hair.]

It's very strange. Are we meant to live here?

[It seems unfathomable. Why?]

No idea.

[He gives another shrug.]

I'm not really likin' this situation we're in, so...!

[He grins and holds out his hand to her.]

Let's go find out what's goin' on an beat the crap outta whoever brought us here.

[Ten shillings that it was a Noah.]

[She looks at his hand with surprise. Miranda doesn't blush, as she's aware that it's a gesture of comfort rather than romance, but her heart is warmed nonetheless. Her gloved hand grasps his, and immediately, she feels a little bit better. Hopeful, even.]

I'll use my Innocence to support you.

[Because they both know Miranda is NOT a fighter. Not even if she wanted to be.]

What is a...gun?

[Sorry Kerry, you asked for that one.

Diarmuid's expression saddens when the other boy asks about his sword and he shakes his head.]

I don't. When the faeries brought me here, they didn't let me bring my sword. They let you bring your gun?

[He gives Kerry a look, swinging the hand he his holding]

Well, you are older than me. That is probably why if so. I am just starting to learn.

But...how...

[Diarmuid gives the boy an extremely confused look.]

You are Setanta? The one who became Cu Chulainn?

[He tries to puzzle out how that can be for several moments before finally giving up. It never crosses his mind that the other boy might be lying. Why would he?]

Wow....will you really teach me to swim, hero?

[He'd rather do the heavy hammer swinging anyways. And her innocence really was handy in a pinch.

As he started to pull her along, he also noticed that he wasn't feeling as woozy. He actually felt a lot better. Maybe it was just the feeling of having someone that had his back, but he wasn't feeling that uneasy emotionally. Strange.

Either away, he tugged her along. The hand there so that they wouldn't get separated just in case something happened as well as being moral support.]

Lessee... Where should we start off?

Maybe we should ask some people where we are exactly, yeah? Or maybe we should just keep to ourselves.

[He looked at Miranda for her input. He was fine either way, he was good at observation.]

[Diarmuid's startled emotion fades into curiosity and he tilts his head at her.]

Do you not talk? Is that why you aren't answering me?

[smallspot]

But I'm not the sick one, Lord.

[Diarmuid lightly rubs the man's arm.]

You are the sick one and father always told me to help others before myself. Especially sick people. Did you eat something bad? Should I get you a drink?

Yes, it's this way!

[And instead of waddling, Mieu decided to float a little bit so he can see if anyone was coming their way.]

[A good question. Miranda pulls her knuckle to her lip, getting her first real look at the city once they step outside. She might not be good at much, but she does have a fair amount of urban savvy. After working so many jobs, she would have had to pick up such knowledge.]

It's hard to say... This doesn't look like the kind of city an akuma would inhabit. It's so peaceful.

[Her head turns to the left.]

Our best bets would probably be a hospital, a police station, or a tourist center, right?]

[By that point, she was drifting off herself. Madge probably wouldn't admit it out loud, but she was thankful he'd found her... even if it was on accident. In her sleep, she shifted closer to him.]

[Cu Chulainn himself is quite puzzled.]

Maybe you can see the future, so you saw me when I was grown up?

[He nods when the subject turns to swimming.]

Of course! Just jump and I'll tell you what to do!

That would be 'an Angel.' I'm surprised you knew I had a light. [For God's sake, Kaworu. And it's like he doesn't even notice the commotion or the weirdness of this situation.] You're shocked, though.

Sounds good to me.

A great deal grows here, doesn't it? Do you like it? [After all, this place is distinctly lacking in 'apocalypse.']

[Richard glances up at Ruca when he is approached. He did not mean to concern anyone else, though of course he appreciates the kindness. The boy seems a little awkward, but Richard smiles at him with warm gratitude and speaks to put him at ease.] I'm fine, thank you. Just a little light-headed, probably the sun.

[Richard remembers the warning. He just is under the misguided belief that the occasional handshakes and the incidental touches of daily interaction are enough to deal with the problem.

Tales of Morons.

A touch of wryness comes into Richard's smile.] I think I can manage at least that much. Let's just try to avoid cliffs. [See? He's fine. He's joking about his habit of falling off things and everything.

The world turns when he gets to his feet, but he grabs the park bench and it passes after a moment.] It's times like these I'm grateful that Windor is a more temperate climate than Strahta.

"It is a good thought." Even if he didn't consider it very likely. "Perhaps I shall return home to find it better than I left."

I'm glad to hear it. [Richard is one of those people who manages to sound genuinely uplifted by the well-being of others, because he truly is. He nods when she mentions working things out.] Have you found anything? My own searches have not been very productive so far.

[He is happy to have gotten that smile, hoping it means that she has relaxed. He is also rather disproportionately happy that he managed to make a successful paper crane. He has never had the chance, but it always seemed fun. He holds it out to her, not wanting to reach over her to put it in the pile.] Could I trade this for another piece of paper?

[He wants to know how, but he doesn't think he's going to get an explanation, or he'd have gotten one already. It's confusing. How could someone like this, someone he's never met, know him?]

But--

[The way the man is looking at him makes him shiver. He hesitates briefly, then he turns and starts to hurry away, across the shore.]

Oh yes, Miss Kitty. Cheshire was the one who told me I'm mad, but he also showed me the shortcut to the beautiful garden. And when the queen was being mean he checked up on me, which is very kind of him considering the queen and king are all sorts of awful! Oh! You know, Miss Kitty, he could do something that I've never seen any cat do.

He could grin! Apparently all Cheshire Cats can grin but I've only ever met one Cheshire. Are you from England, Miss Kitty? Have you ever met a Cheshire Cat?

[Well, he knew who he was dealing with. Of course the kid doesn't know what guns are. He holds up his free hand and makes a gun shape with it and mimes firing.] It's a weapon that you shoot with. It fires balls of metal, and they go right through people.

[He feels a little sad and hollow as he says this, but he doesn't show it, keeping hold of Diarmuid's hand as he walks with him.]

No, I don't have my gun either. I wish I did. And I told you, fairies didn't bring us here. [Kerry knows these things, okay?]

I meant nobody knows how a battle's going to go, so you've got to be open to possibilities. You've got to know as much as you can to give yourself the advantage. Knowing the terrain's part of that.

[Kerry talks like he knows what he's talking about, but he's only just starting to learn himself, even if he is older than Diarmuid.]

[Cu, you're so dumb sometimes.]

If you cut them up, nobody else can read them or look at the pictures. Look.

[He holds up one of the pictures Cu cut up, showing how the other side of it is covered with words. Words Cu cut out.]

No, I don't want to. [He's not a baby who does stupid things like cut up books.] You're ruining them. If you leave the pictures in the books you can come back and look at them later.

[ Well his brain certainly isn't going to break to see a talking cat. Or this cat in particular. In fact when he sees her sashaying down the street with that helpful but displeased look in her eye, he's pretty sure that he knows what she's up to. ]

Oh Yoruichi-san~ Does my favorite kitty-kitty need a hug~?

[ No, she doesn't, but that doesn't stop him from running down the street, arms wide before he (attempts to) scoops her up. ]
