Welcome to the Rekindle Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. Then don't forget to go reserve your character in a week when they open. Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: Option 1 [While the days grow longer and warmer and the older, oriental-style of the city would normally make one think that the interiors would not be much in the way of relief from the hot sun, it may surprise the guest to see that the apartments the natives have allocated for them are surprisingly comfortable. In fact, the only modern convenience they may be missing is a television set! At least, outside the media floor on the first floor of Building One - the first of four inter-connected buildings. In fact, each apartment building seems to have at least one different amenity on the first floor. In Building Two they seemed to even spare a library in another that seems to have the basics and some information packets that are otherwise found in the Welcome Center in District 2. There are even a few restaurants and common dining areas in the Building Three that are open until late at night, and meeting areas and a ballroom on the first floor in Building Four, perfect for setting up small parties or big events. With the locals gone save those who work in the restaurants and the one librarian, leaving you to your own devices, what will you do? What mysteries could be left to discover in this place?] Option 2 [With summer coming, the water level in the river is starting to go down, exposing some of the beach. The Riverside Shack is open late, and its restaurant is pulling out all the stops and offering seafood specials (even though a river is a far cry from an ocean). The rental store, meanwhile, is finally bringing out more of its swimming supplies, inner tubes and pool noodles, and a calmer stretch of the river has been roped off with buoys for swimming. They even have lifeguards chairs set up. Clearly this sort of thing used to be an annual event. It's not quite an ocean beach (quite different actually), but there's still plenty of chance to have fun in the water. Or teach someone to swim, perhaps.] Option 3 [If you're more inclined to explore or learn, the City's Learning Center might be more to your tastes. There certainly seems to be a lot going on here - there's laboratories and libraries and workshops, and plenty of communal areas where you can meet and talk with people. The natives seem pretty absorbed with their studies and work, though they're polite in brushing you off, at least. Perhaps you'll have more luck seeing what other Guests such as yourself have discovered?] Option 4 [Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] Option 5 [If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.]

[ but as he settles Haru with an incredulous look, he calms down just as quickly. it... wasn't good to panic, relaxing and being happy... it'd be hard, but it would be better for him...both of them.

swallowing thickly again, Yuki nods his head in two short bursts. ]

_{[Annnnnd now Haru's clinging, grasping his friend in a full on hug, tightly. He's giggling in his usual way, smiling all the while.]}

Do you want to fish? You'll feel better if you fish, Yuki!

[ that hug... normally it'd stress him out even more, but he suddenly feels a whole lot better about everything - he even hugs Haru back a bit, an awkward smile on his lips. ]

Fishing- yeah.

Yay! _{[There's something great about having a hug returned and when Haru feels Yuki hugging him back he's completely ecstatic. It doesn't take him long to grab his friend's hand and pull him to his feet once the hug his over, dragging him to the shoreline only to thrust the fishing rod into his hands.]}

[She doesn’t answer, but purses her mouth at him. Of course she has every right.

Katsa can feel her rage begin to ebb away, aided by the rush that came with knocking him to the ground, and she breathes in carefully, slowly. If he’s agreed with her in some small measure then she should at least attempt not to yell at him again, not for a while, anyway.

Oh… but why hadn’t Po simply told her? He said he'd trusted her. Easily done, she supposes, with a talent like his.] And you have none. [Her voice is less accusing, but only just.] I can't know what you've seen in my mind, or what you've felt.

[It's... incredibly tempting to answer her thoughts and he would were it not for that fact that he's done that before when she was angry with him over this. And it hadn't helped. It had taken days for her to really talk to him again.]

I've seen that you like my eyes.

[He cracks a smirk but it's gone as quickly as it came. It occurs to him what he had done before.]

I've always been careless about hiding my Grace from you. So... I can tell you every time I hear one of your thoughts or whenever I sense one of your feelings in regards to me. If that would make it easier on you.

[He hates having to start over. He and Katsa had come so far and now it was all gone.]

You sound kinda like Karkat! But not entirely... I'm confused! You look a little like him, too! But not the same skin color, or the same voice.

[Better watch out, Davesprite, Nepeta's in an extremely playful mood. But when she spots those wings, she decides to step it up a notch. She was fully aware he wasn't actually a bird, but she still wanted to play.

So she bounded for him, and leaped at him with claws outstretched.]

Umm....I don't really want to be the monster, but I don't know how the game is played so I don't know if I can be the hero.

[He looks a little sad.]

Maybe you should pick who is what? You know the game better than me!

We can take turns. You can be the hero first. Which means I'm the monster. I'm gonna attack you and you need to fight me off. And then after you win the fight, we switch.

[He grins, and then gives an animal-like growl.]

[OH FUCK he hears that and knows pretty much exactly what's coming but still doesn't manage to turn around in time to face her with some dignity. Not that he'd have a lot after being pounced into the sand, and it's probably actually better for his wings, but still.]

Sup, kitty. [He twists his head enough to get a bit of a look at her, eyebrows scrunching slightly.] Cat-troll? Which one are you?

And the worst part of the whole thing, is, of course, everyone's having troubles working out how to deal with it. That gets targeted as soon as it turns up.

(I really wonder if he'd yell that to just about anyone who was feeling bad...)

[ but he's grateful for his friendship - it reminds him of being on the ship catching Mahi Mahi... how could he forget that moment? how great he felt...?

he looks confident now, standing up straight and readying the rod in his hands. ]

Anyone holding together after that long is definitely doing something right. Davesprite rustles his wings, but doesn't comment- that's only going to invite further conversation about the whole thing, and he's not about to have it with someone he doesn't know at all.

"One of the things life decided was worth letting you keep out of the tussle," he suggests, following Draven also his somewhat stumbling tour to the wall. That's… kind of concerning, actually. "You think you're going to make it to the hospital if it's this bad?"

It's official. We're all screwed.

Well...maybe some of us more than others.

And hey, if they're stopped by a weight puzzle or enemy rush, Davesprite will have someone very handy. Now...Draven doesn't know much about this wall, but he kind of wants to stay here fore- he clenches his hand. Worse, certainly. More bizarre? No. He pushes himself away and takes two steps, stands in a second of silence.

"This...we even going the right way?"

If Draven had all his wits about him, he'd commend Davesprite. Usually, when someone ran afoul the wrath of the game gods, said victim's presumed to be paralyzed. He's glad Davesprite's no friend.

[She retracts her claws and gets off Davesprite so he can get up.] Yep~! I'm Nepeta! I guess you could call me the cat-troll, if you wanted. But I purrfer Nepeta.

[oh good. That would be some way to have a conversation. He gets up and turns to face her, trying to brush as much sand off as he can.]

Or Nepurrta, even? [that is maybe the very slightest hint of a grin, which he will deny if she asks.]

Yeah, that's a distinct possibility.

Of course, if we could figure out some way to sneak up on it…

[Diarmuid's expression brightens again and he claps happily.]

That is so simple! I like games like that.

[When Cu Chulainn mock growls at him, he quickly raises the 'sword' he's still holding so he can 'fight' off the 'monster.']

Get back you evil, creature! I will not let you harm these people!

Davesprite shrugs and sets out the map, rustling the paper. "Yeah," he says, looking up from it and nodding. "Could be closer, though. And worst comes to worst I can take a look, reorientate."

[Riku stares at him for a moment, face just maybe a slight shade paler - this definitely doesn't match with what he remembers. It matches what they had planned, but...]

...The last thing I remember is waiting for the right moment to intercept you in The World That Never Was.

[Meaning that either there is something seriously wrong with Roxas' memory or with his own. ...Or that something even worse is going on, possibly. Riku has no idea which option of those he prefers. ...Non of them, really.]

[He may have noticed, but he's got much more fun things to poke at for the time being.]

Oh! So you're having withdrawal symptoms already?

[She lightly taps at her chin with one finger, pretending to think about it...which, really, would go against the whole "sneaking up" notion, since she was being so obvious. But whatever. This was all just for play, and she was going along with it.]
