Welcome to the Rekindle Test Drive!Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. Then don't forget to go reserve your character in a week when they open. Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: | | Option 1 | [While the days grow longer and warmer and the older, oriental-style of the city would normally make one think that the interiors would not be much in the way of relief from the hot sun, it may surprise the guest to see that the apartments the natives have allocated for them are surprisingly comfortable. In fact, the only modern convenience they may be missing is a television set! At least, outside the media floor on the first floor of Building One - the first of four inter-connected buildings.
In fact, each apartment building seems to have at least one different amenity on the first floor. In Building Two they seemed to even spare a library in another that seems to have the basics and some information packets that are otherwise found in the Welcome Center in District 2. There are even a few restaurants and common dining areas in the Building Three that are open until late at night, and meeting areas and a ballroom on the first floor in Building Four, perfect for setting up small parties or big events.
With the locals gone save those who work in the restaurants and the one librarian, leaving you to your own devices, what will you do? What mysteries could be left to discover in this place?] | | Option 2 | [With summer coming, the water level in the river is starting to go down, exposing some of the beach. The Riverside Shack is open late, and its restaurant is pulling out all the stops and offering seafood specials (even though a river is a far cry from an ocean). The rental store, meanwhile, is finally bringing out more of its swimming supplies, inner tubes and pool noodles, and a calmer stretch of the river has been roped off with buoys for swimming. They even have lifeguards chairs set up. Clearly this sort of thing used to be an annual event.
It's not quite an ocean beach (quite different actually), but there's still plenty of chance to have fun in the water. Or teach someone to swim, perhaps.] | | Option 3 | [If you're more inclined to explore or learn, the City's Learning Center might be more to your tastes. There certainly seems to be a lot going on here - there's laboratories and libraries and workshops, and plenty of communal areas where you can meet and talk with people. The natives seem pretty absorbed with their studies and work, though they're polite in brushing you off, at least.
Perhaps you'll have more luck seeing what other Guests such as yourself have discovered?] | | Option 4 | [Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] | | Option 5 | [If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.] |

Riku | Kingdom Hearts (OU)
[Oh, it's definitely not an ocean beach - Riku can attest to that. He can tell by the sound alone.
Still, it's a familiar enough picture and given that they may all be stuck here for a while, he really doesn't see any problem in sitting down on the top of the roof that rental store, somewhat reasonably out of sight from down on the streets, but close enough to listen to the sounds. Attached enough to be able to risk leaning back and relaxing some himself as the sun burns down.
Even if it's not the same.
Even if the waves sound different.]
[Option 4]
['Physical contact is essential' they say. 'Not complying will have consequences' they say. Well, Riku doesn't quite answer 'Stuff it', but it's close.
And now he's paying the price for it; stumbling around empty side streets while feeling really utterly terrible - nausea is twisting in his stomach and how he ever got up is a mystery. Ugh, he really should have stayed in bed. Well, if he stops here and spends two seconds pressing his forehead against the cold wall, maybe it will get better. There is no way this is going to last or get worse after all. Right?]
option 2 - if you're not alright with this, no problem! o/
In a sweatshirt and shorts and sandals, Roxas is on his way towards the sand before that unmistakable silver brings him to a sudden halt. His hands fall from the outer pocket of his sweetshirt, eyes trained on the figure sitting atop the roof of the little shop.]
Riku?
No, this is perfect! <3
And there it goes again, when he hears someone calling his name - the voice is unfamiliar, but when he looks down to see who it is...]
...Roxas.
[Well. That is unexpected.
Even more unexpected is the other knowing his name; Riku didn't exactly introduce himself during their chase through Twilight Town. Was that Sora's memories shining through?]
<3!
How are you here? [His tone is a bit more firm, hands curling into fists at his sides.] I've been here for days. What's going on? Where's Sora?
[If Riku's here as well, this must be something bad. But why is he so calm? Does he know something?]
no subject
I arrived in the same manner as everyone else.
[Taken from his waiting spot in the World That Never Was and dropped off in the middle of Saeng Seong instead, without any say on his part. Stuck like the rest of them, likely for just as long as Roxas has been.
The calm facade crumbles a little the moment Roxas drops his best friend's name though, due the Nobody's whole demeanor, really.]
At a safe place.
[Hopefully. Given that breach they had, given what had happened with... her, Riku can only hope so. And do his best to hurry back with Roxas in tow so that they can wake up Sora for good.]
Why are you asking?

Option 4
Sir? Sir, are you alright? You look like you're about to fall over! [Perhaps not the kindest thing to say to someone she didn't even know but she was more focused on the fact that this man was in clear pain.] Would you like me to hold your hand?
no subject
'm fine. You don't need to bother.
[...Okay, maybe he isn't fine fine, but he'll somehow manage. He always does.]

[He turns so that he's leaning with his back against the wall, using it to steady himself. It's only then that he finally gets a good look at the girl beside him.]

Option 4
[Shiki has been not having any problems with the whole "physical contact" thing so far. She's pretty friendly and had been always been casually affectionate. This just reminds her that not everyone is exactly comfortable with that sort of thing. She had been walking down the street when she sees someone stumbling along, making her pick up the pace in case he passes out right there and then.]
Easy there... [Once she has caught up with him, she gently puts a hand on his shoulder, patting it to get his attention.] Maybe we should sit you down?
no subject
He's never really been the hugger type before that, had been more for teasing and horsing around and always competing with Sora, or sometimes with Waka and Tidus and Selphie or very rarely with Kairi, but... even that seems awkward now. After...
Overall, he'd really rather left alone. Maybe. Probably. Oh, he really doesn't even quite know himself.
He jolts lightly when there's suddenly a hand on his shoulder - he hadn't even notice her calling after him. It's not like anyone should worry for him after all.]
I'm f- [Dizzy. Uhg. Okay, maybe standing isn't such a bright idea when the world around him seems to have its mind set on spinning.] ...Maybe you are onto something.
[And there he goes, carefully turning on his heels so he is with his back to the wall and the slides down until he's sitting. There. Satisfied, Shiki?]
no subject
Ummm, I kinda meant over there on the bench.
[She mentions towards it with her shoulder.]
I could help you, if you want. You don't look so hot.
no subject
[What is being comfortable? How do you do it?
He just tilts his head and exhales carefully.]
I'll be okay in a moment. You don't need to bother.

Option 2 for realz nao
For now.
Though it seems he wasn't the only one drawn to the waters' edge, and while Kairi ahd hidden his blindfold from him at some point, seeing it again on someone else's face was definitely a sight to behold.
So enjoy someone looking up from the ground.
Who just so happens to be sharing a face (and scent, though that little bit of Xehaseed they call Ansem is firmly stuck under the proverbial heel of his Heart's metaphorical shoe) with you.
...Okay, and is a little surprised because it has been a few years since he'd seen the Replica, but... what?]
no subject
If there is any trace of shock in his eyes, it is well hidden by that blindfold though.
...
Well.]
So let me guess... you are 'me'?
[Is there just a trace of doubt and sarcasm in his voice? Well, maybe it is more than that.
It's strange though... the other doesn't smell like a replica. Maybe the Organization's work had been improved? Because well... there is no way that the other actually is him after all.]
no subject
Nah. [He pauses, pushing those thoughts aside for now.] Funny, though. I was going to ask you that.
[After all, he did just recently turn eighteen.]
no subject
And well... if he was any younger he'd probably answer something of the lines of 'Well, I asked first'. As it is though, he just pushes himself up to his feet, arms crossing as he raises an eyebrow. For a second he thinks about jumping down... but if he is facing some new kind of replica then he'd rather not give up the high ground until he has to.]
Then where does that put us?
[Because well. He is not in the mood to start a fight, but he can't let the other just go around goof off with his face either.]

Riku? [She frowns in puzzlement] What are you doing up there?
[And when did you start wearing that blindfold again...?]
no subject
You are... that girl. [The one that he is forgetting about. The one he is supposed to forget about. Riku stares at her confused, shock dawning on his face as half-gone memories snap back into place and a name rolls over his lips as if he had never had trouble remembering it in first place.] ...Xion.
[But... how?]
Option 4!
Needless to say, Sora isn't terribly sure about where he's going anymore. He's not too worried about it, though - he'd come out here to explore anyway, so what did it matter where he ended up? He'd find a way back eventually.
But it's so quiet that he's a little surprised to see someone else there...and even more surprised once he realizes that it's Riku. That definitely hadn't been what he was wearing when Sora saw him earlier...what was with the coat and blindfold? But Sora forgets about all of that when he notices that Riku looks kind of sick. Oh no...]
Riku? What're you doing out here?
no subject
He is a bit too focused on stopping the world from spinning though, trying to control his breath as he turns to press his back against the wall for more stability.
Until he hears that voice, but... there's no way...]
S-Sora? [Excuse that dumbfound expression.] ...You are awake.
no subject
Well, um, yeah. I've been awake for hours.
[Seriously, he knows he's been sleeping in a little bit more lately, but come on...
Still, there were more important things to worry about! Like the fact that his best friend looks like he's about to pass out.
(Next most important thing is asking why in the world he's wearing a blindfold, but first things first!)]
Are you okay, Riku? You don't look so good.
[Do you need a hug?]
no subject
...Well, better late than never.]
About time. I'm pretty sure you set a record there anyways.
[It's about then that the next wave of dizzy spell hits him, causing his head to tilt back as he groans lowly.]
'm fine.
[...Right. Of course he is.
Alternately, he is just the most miserable liar in this whole city. In more ways than one.]2.
and yank on his hairto be able to see everything correctly, but she can't do that here. as a result, she just has to climb clumsily over crates and hoist herself up to the very top of the little rental store roof and peek her head over the top and--oh. aruz gives riku an owlish blink. ]
Ah...
[ um. her ears twitch, her tail flicks like a whip. ]
I am sorry.
no subject
It's a free roof.
[As long as he's left alone, she is free to climb around as she likes... if she's careful at that at least.]
