Welcome to the Rekindle Test Drive!Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. Then don't forget to go reserve your character in a week when they open. Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: | | Option 1 | [While the days grow longer and warmer and the older, oriental-style of the city would normally make one think that the interiors would not be much in the way of relief from the hot sun, it may surprise the guest to see that the apartments the natives have allocated for them are surprisingly comfortable. In fact, the only modern convenience they may be missing is a television set! At least, outside the media floor on the first floor of Building One - the first of four inter-connected buildings.
In fact, each apartment building seems to have at least one different amenity on the first floor. In Building Two they seemed to even spare a library in another that seems to have the basics and some information packets that are otherwise found in the Welcome Center in District 2. There are even a few restaurants and common dining areas in the Building Three that are open until late at night, and meeting areas and a ballroom on the first floor in Building Four, perfect for setting up small parties or big events.
With the locals gone save those who work in the restaurants and the one librarian, leaving you to your own devices, what will you do? What mysteries could be left to discover in this place?] | | Option 2 | [With summer coming, the water level in the river is starting to go down, exposing some of the beach. The Riverside Shack is open late, and its restaurant is pulling out all the stops and offering seafood specials (even though a river is a far cry from an ocean). The rental store, meanwhile, is finally bringing out more of its swimming supplies, inner tubes and pool noodles, and a calmer stretch of the river has been roped off with buoys for swimming. They even have lifeguards chairs set up. Clearly this sort of thing used to be an annual event.
It's not quite an ocean beach (quite different actually), but there's still plenty of chance to have fun in the water. Or teach someone to swim, perhaps.] | | Option 3 | [If you're more inclined to explore or learn, the City's Learning Center might be more to your tastes. There certainly seems to be a lot going on here - there's laboratories and libraries and workshops, and plenty of communal areas where you can meet and talk with people. The natives seem pretty absorbed with their studies and work, though they're polite in brushing you off, at least.
Perhaps you'll have more luck seeing what other Guests such as yourself have discovered?] | | Option 4 | [Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] | | Option 5 | [If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.] |

Shanoa | Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia | 4/2
[What an odd predicament. Physical contact? Withdrawal symptoms? ~hugging~ complete strangers? What perversion of decency and all common sense was this? Since arriving in this strange plane, Shanoa's been plagued with confusion and questions, and not many of them answered. It doesn't help that the memories of her past, as well as the emotions that accompany them are still muted due to her previous encounter with a certain and extremely gaudy Vampire Lord. The fact still stands that she's become ill, however, and the sudden failure of her glyphs to activate -- well, let's just say it'll be hard to make toast like a normal person after you've come to realize how easily so many problems can be solved with a Melio Culter into Ignis glyph combination.
And so, our brave, socially inept heroine can be found wandering about the apartment areas, looking for a means to socialize just long enough to bum a hug, or a handshake or somesuch nonsense off someone. Gods, why her? And how was this so hard?]
[OPTION 2]
[While she won't be quick to admit such a thing, the sight of the beach isn't something Shanoa is used to anymore, or maybe she wasn't ever drawn to them in the first place. It's not like water frightens her or anything, oh, far from it, it's just that she isn't used to seeing the stuff without bracing for some sort of aquatic combat - afterall, her most recent encounter with the sea ended with a series of homicidal mermaid attacks, a gigantic crab that literally SCREAMED at her, a few murderous sea spirits and, well, need she go on? Still, seeing the water so calm is ... oddly fascinating, and she's never quite had the time to admire it so.]
4!
Oh this will be great ♥
It's not as if she's shocked or anything, but given her current mindset, she doesn't quite know how to take this either -- it's one thing to see a succubus strutting around in Dracula's castle, near devoid of all clothing or decency, but another thing entirely for someone to kick around in public shirtless.... Right?
Now how does one go about handling this situation, exactly? ]
... Ah.
I see what sort of place this is now.:D Teehee ♥!
"What? You look like you've never seen boobs before."

[ A small glance downward. ]
Apologies. I'm not adjusted to such a ... spectacle outside of the Castle.
[ That's a good word for it, right? Yeah we'll go with that. ]

... N-not quite. At least, I'd pray so.
[ Yes, this is definitely hard. She's just going to pinch the bridge of her nose now, searching for words. ]
I've not seen demons who behave such as yourself. Let alone wander the streets. Shirtless.

[ Was that a chuckle? Her features may remain vacant, but for a moment there's at least a faint semblance of laughter... Then her features twist briefly to pain. More of those symptoms... She'd almost forgotten. ]

[ She's wary of that hand, though simply through instinct at this point. You'll have to forgive her, she's not used to friendly demons. Or the prospect of contact to refresh her glyphs. Frankly, more than anything, she's nervous, perhaps embarrassed - or both? Relearning your emotions is tricky enough without being forced to do it in such an unusual fashion. ]
I am not removing my clothes if that is the answer.

[ Shanoa swallows hard for a moment before returning her eyes to Shura's, though she seems a little ... ashamed, honestly. ]
If I might be a bit frank... I cannot stand physicians.

That should teach you not to only skim the information you were given upo arrival in a new world, Shura.
4 for the win!
And now, both of them were undergoing the same withdrawal symptoms. Ain't it a beautiful world?
Anyway, Soma was now within line of sight of the strangely familiar presence he'd been tracking, hoping against hope it was someone he knew. And in a way? It was. Only it wasn't -Soma- that knew her.
"Ohhhh Christ..."
Oh jeebus XD
Albus died in her place.
How could the Lord of Evil have reincarnated so soon? And why had his appearance changed so drastically? Could it have been that her teleportation into this new, strange land was his doing? All at once Shanoa's mind overfills with unanswered questions, the pain accompanying the dampening of her glyphs taking lesser priority as she goes from walking, to full on sprinting forward towards Soma, brilliant red energy suddenly coiling into existence in her palms, the threadlike magic weaving itself into a rapier of the same coloration. It hurts, and the structural integrity of her weapon is beyond weak, but she has to try something. Otherwise her Brother's death was all for naught. ]
Die, you monster!
These two are going to be SUCH good friends~
Dampening, but not nullifying. That was the key here, and so long as it wasn't doing the latter, anyone who knew the feeling of Dracula's power would be out for his blood. Half of them would be doing it for his own damn good, too, which just made the whole situation boatloads more dicey.
Taking an instinctual half-step back and pivoting to the side, Soma barely managed to slip the strike, the scrape of steel on blood-red steel sending sparks flying from the combat knife he'd plucked from the depths of his coat. "Can we talk about this?" he asked, backsliding a good five feet to give himself room to maneuver - and consequently prevent her from hitting him at close range with something more destructive.
Oh without a doubt
[ Yeeeah no. This will take some doing. The moment her blade fails to score a hit, Shanoa drops low, leg swung in a powerful arc in attempt to sweep Soma to the ground, but she's a moment too slow. The withdrawal effects coupled with the vampire's no doubt inhuman speed stack heavily outside of her favor, leaving her once again out of close quarters range - which is exactly why her rapier has taken the form of three, shimmering daggers. Despite the crippling pain burning through her limbs, Shanoa's arm blurs forth with movement, wrist snapping in Soma's direction to let fly her blades as she leaps forward to close the distance once more. ]

All of which is an indirect way of saying that he had to duck, fast, and still took a dagger in the shoulder for his trouble.
Okay, this wasn't working.
"I'm not who you think I am, dammit!" Once more he reached into his coat, this time withdrawing what had to be the biggest damn greatsword ever made for human hands - one which, if Shanoa was paying any attention at all, was putting off some major holy energy. "All I want is five minutes, after that you can try to kill me again if you want. You're not the only one who's ever been touched by that bastard's power and lived to tell of it."
no subject
How the heck was Dracula capable of holding a blade that shone with such an obviously Holy light? And furthermore, where did he even get the thing? Well. One fact is for certain: she doesn't particularly wish to chance dodging a stroke from such a monstrous blade, nor does she have the strength or mental capacity to generate a weapon capable of matching its calibur - which, coupled with her confusion, urges the former executioner of Ecclesia to stand down. For now. ]
My time is essential. It would behoove you to explain. Quickly.

That said, he put the greatsword away and opened his hands to show them empty. "This place is nullifying my ability to use that power. I am unarmed, and you're close enough to strike before I can draw again. I am not a vampire, despite having some of their abilities; I do not crave blood, I don't burn to ash in the sun, and I for goddamn sure don't sparkle in it, either. Don't ask, you don't wanna know. And I still have my own soul."
no subject
"Dominus"
Your assumption is correct, I have channeled Dracula's powers once before, albeit at the cost of a life that should have been my own. So you bear his curse as well, yet you deny his rebirth? How can this be possible?
[ Ahh... and she'd almost forgotten. ]
And what of the Belmont clan? I can't imagine your meeting was all too pleasant.
no subject
Finally, he took that backwards step, lowering his hands as he did. "If you still want to fight, we need to go somewhere else. Doing anything here is likely to get innocent bystanders involved, and I'd prefer to avoid that. If you'd rather talk, though, I think we can probably find a cafe nearby."
By now, the knife wound had closed of its own accord, and his coat was beginning to repair itself as well. That, at least, was one blessing he had taken out of that literal hell hole, though he wasn't sure why it extended to his clothing. Good thing it did, else he'd have walked out of that castle in rags.
