Test Drive - June Edition
![]() SURPRISE! (Part two!) Here is our new June Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. |
Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: |
Option 1 |
[ The river is well and completely thawed out at this point, flowing through the city at an impressive clip. Swimming is possible, although the currents make it a little risky if you aren't skilled at it. But on the flip side, the Beach Side Shack has put out their fishing supplies; if there's a time to try fishing the river, it's certainly now. Why not grab one of various fishing rods and see if there's anything to catch this time around?] |
Option 2 |
[ With the change in weather, so comes a change in shopping options. Not just warm weather apparel, but various mobile carts and food vendors are starting to range further up and down the streets. Spiced, sweet, sour, savory delicacies are on display from all sorts of wheeled displays getting pulled around. Feel free to give them a try!] |
Option 3 |
[Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] |
Option 4 |
[If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.] |
Luke fon Fabre | Tales of the Abyss
[Because he's
an utter freaking geniusnot the most careful, when it comes to taking care of himself, he's found himself feeling extra crappy. Luke isn't exactly a touchy-feely person, anyway, though. He'd been too busy distracting himself to pay attention, either way. He'd had every intention of asking one of his co-workers to help him with the stupid touch thing, but it looks like he waited too long, this time around...Well, on the way to his job, he finds himself having to sit down on a bench in the park. Even if he weren't feeling so weak? Frankly, he's feeling too dizzy to walk.]
Crap...
[He pauses to rest his head in his hands a moment, before he wryly looks up. Sure, he might not be super eager to do it...but...
He knows when he needs to ask for help. Now's one of those times. Should he spy someone before they see him? He's going to be calling out to them, to get their attention.]
Option 4/Catch-All
[Well, he's starting to get used to things, around here. It'd taken him a while to get over the shock of being thrust into yet ANOTHER world, but this is Luke...
Ignoring the root of the problem andMoving forward in life and getting over things? Second nature.Nevertheless, the replica's hanging around outside, sight-seeing.]
Option 3
Discomfort or not, he presumes that everyone – all right, most of the others – would set aside those inhibitions for the sake of their health. It would be stupidity, plain and simple, to die from such a frivolous reason.
So when Gaara hears someone familiar calling for his attention, and he turns to face the speaker…
…the illness symptoms are rather obvious, even from this distance.]
…Luke.
[A frown of irritation creases his brows as he walks across the park. The retort on the tip of his tongue slips out all too easily, the closer he approaches.]
Hmph. I didn’t realize you were so foolish.
[After the initial moment of hesitation, Gaara reaches toward him, and gently places his hand onto his shoulder. From what he has observed, Luke’s condition might have gone too far for this simple touch to have any effect. He may require additional contact, depending on how long he has deprived himself.]
rood Gaara...rood
The one helping him...?
Luke's reminded of Jade (and even of Tear), in some ways. Because of those two, Luke learned that scolding usually means the person cares, on some level. It's thanks to being reminded of a friend, that there's the hint of a 'yeah, yeah...I know...' on his face, as he looks back up at Gaara, for just a moment. Of course, that quickly fades as he he manages to let out a sigh.]
I...didn't realize it'd been that long. [Pausing to smile a bit, he reaches to scratch at the side of his face.] Thanks, Gaara.
stop being dumb :c
[He doesn’t know if it’s carelessness or a preference against touch that motivates Luke to reduce his body to this state. Clearly, Gaara will need to monitor him more closely. He had a few friends back at the facility who were equally foolish. Such as Ishtar, who seemed to get into trouble on a weekly basis… Hopefully, Luke isn’t as impulsive and naïve as her.
And because this matter is fairly serious, Gaara doesn’t think to try sparing his feelings.] Pay closer attention. There will be fatal consequences, if you refrain from contact for too long.
[It’s an unusual concept, actually perishing from lacking this attribute. Except, on some level, he can understand it, having gone numerous years with so little physical contact. He doesn’t mind the concept as much in this world, because there’s a valid reason for seeking it. In Suna, he wouldn’t think to reach out so readily, since he can already predict his villagers’ reactions.
With his other hand, he waves Luke off in a dismissive manner. He falls silent and continues to stand next to him, waiting for the effects to begin receding. Gaara doesn’t know how long the process is supposed to take, and wonders if he should call on others to give Luke their assistance as well.]
option 3
... Well. If there's one thing about Eiko Carol, it's that she isn't one for minding her own business. So, Luke? Have a six year old kid walking up to you, and reaching out to tap your shoulder! ... With her flute, that is. So, more like prodding at him really.]
What's wrong, mister? Head hurt?
Efina | LiEat
[Efi's staring at all the food carts longingly, maybe even drooling a little. It's really obvious she wants them, but it doesn't look like she's actually going to buy anything.
That being said, if you want to buy something from the vendor she's staring at, she's kind of in the way. Sorry.]
Option 4
[With nothing else to do in an unknown city, Efi's out and about, exploring with her childish sense of awe and curiosity. Right now she's outside one of the closed off districts, looking up at a giant KEEP OUT sign.]
Kee...? Keh???
[The illiterate girl spends about thirty seconds trying to pronounce the two words, but to no avail. Yet such a big sign means something interesting is behind it, right??]
[...Someone should probably stop her before she gets in trouble.]
Eiko Carol | Final Fantasy IX
[If one stops by the river today, they may notice a little girl wandering around, curiously scanning the ground for something. Eiko's not really interested in swimming today. The current would probably sweep her away, anyway. And although she knows how to fish, it's still not the same without the moogles around to help.
She does find what she's looking for, however: a pebble. Picking it up, she'll examine it for a moment. Then, she'll throw it at the river ahead, the pebble instead hitting the surface with a not-so-very graceful splash.]
Ugh...! [Cue the loudest grumble! That wasn't supposed to happen.] Why's it not working?!
option 2
[Did somebody say food vendors? Because Eiko's already there, and she's completely enamored by the sight. There's all sorts of fresh food on display.
Fresh food.
Food.
Help herself? Don't mind if she does! Eiko's going all out, grabbing all sorts of fruits to fill her basket. Hey, she's hungry, okay? Although later on, one might notice that she might've been a little overeager with her shopping as she struggles to carry her (rather overstuffed) basket.]
2!
Something tells him he should approach her instead of simply watching her struggle, and he can't see why not, so he does. That doesn't really mean he knows what he plans to do after that, though.]
You can't carry all that. [Eiko, meet Captain Obvious, who is today wearing a scruffy beard, a sweater with the hood down, and his usual fingerless glove. What is dressing for the weather.]
no subject
I'm fine--! [With a mild grunt, she keeps moving. Slowly but surely she's dragging it through the square. S l o w l y...] I've got this, okay!
[And as she says that, a couple apples fall right out of the basket without her even noticing. Totally under control.]
no subject
You don't. You're dropping things.
no subject
Okay, so I don't. Look, I just got here and I'm hungry. Reeeeally hungry. [With a cross of her arms, she scans him up and down while tapping her foot. There's a very expectant look in her eyes.] So...!
no subject
You need someone to carry it. [Give him a second, Eiko, he's not used to offering help. He takes a moment to recognize the look she's giving him as one meaning he's supposed to do something.] Should I?
no subject
Well, yeah. [Duh! Is this guy that clueless or something?] Would you rather just sit there and stare instead? Help a lady out here!
no subject
Where are you going?
no subject
Anywhere I can find a place to sit down and eat, of course! It's not like I'm going to eat all this out here.
[Looks like someone missed the memo on newcomers being assigned rooms.]
no subject
The parks are nearby. [There's way more than plenty of space to sit, and people are more sparse, meaning she's less likely to be interrupted.]
no subject
Hmm... I guess that's not a bad idea. [She reaches for his sleeve, as if to tug him along.] C'mon, you know where it is, right? Let's go!
no subject
Unfortunately, Eiko didn't encounter someone who makes a great conversational partner without a lot of prompting; he stays quiet as he walks along. Hopefully he'll make up for that with being a personal food cart.]
Demi-Fiend | Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne AU
With the return of summer, Shura is once again shirtless, shopping at an open air market this time and being confronted to the eternal problem of those with full body tattoos: the adorable yellow sundress she has her eyes set on doesn't look good with her body art. Still, she hesitates, because even though she acts like a perfect tomboy, she likes'em dresses.
[Option 4]
It's hard, being back. It's even harder being back and in the hospital. Fortunately, Junpei has been kind enough to lend her his console. Now if only she hadn't finished the game so fast...
no subject
Shura, your boobs are very nice, but please, there are children around...
"Having some difficulty choosing?"
Still, Naoto could at least help her friend... and maybe block the view of her chest from others.
no subject
"I'd look naked in this."
no subject
Glancing around, Naoto frowned, thinking. What could work in this situation...? Ah!
"Here, follow me."
Taking Shura's hand, she began to lead the other girl further into the racks of clothing. There should be some over here...
no subject
no subject
Coming to a rack of camisoles, Naoto pulled out a few of them, holding them to Shura.
"If you wear this under the sundress, it would help hide your tattoos, I believe; at least for your top area."
Plus they feel nice against your skin!
no subject
no subject
"There... that does help a great deal. Try it with the dress now-- though I suggest keeping your pants on."
That was enough public nudity for today.
no subject
no subject
Does Futomimi know them all by heart?"Mirror..."
Oof. Of course she'd ask for something she didn't carry... well. Not quite anyway. Glancing around, Naoto pointed to one set up against one of the pillars for the market.
"I don't carry one, so..."
no subject
She sure does."Thanks."
Shura steps in front of the mirror, studying her reflection. She checks both her sides, then turns around to check the back. "It looks pretty good, don't you think?" she asks Naoto, still looking at her back over her shoulder.
no subject
I knew there was a reason he was such a good characterFollowing Shura to the mirror, Naoto studied her over as well, tilting her head from side to side before nodding.
"I think that works well... and it compliments the colour of your eyes."
It had been a little strange for those yellow eyes when they first met, but by now Naoto was used to it... at least, those from Shura.
no subject
For now though, thoughts like this are far from Shura's mind. She is smiling, a genuine smile, as she looks herself over one final time in the mirror. "You're totally right, it does! I'm definitely buying this dress now." She turns her head to look at Naoto. If she had been used to Saeng Seong again, she would have taken Naoto's hand in thanks. As of now, she tends to forget the whole physical contact thing still. "Thank you."
no subject
Naoto reached for her wallet, nodding.
"That other dress of yours got wrecked due to those roses, correct? I'd like to cover it this time."
no subject
"Are you sure? I mean, me and Kanji almost damaged your office that day too..."
no subject
Gesturing towards the dress, Naoto smiled.
"You deserve to have someone treat you now and again, I believe."
After all she's gone through, after all... being treated with some compassion was something Naoto could give the Demi-Fiend.
no subject
"If you're sure."
no subject
She wasn't sure that would be okay with the merchant, but it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
no subject
Maybe the merchant won't, but maybe keeping Shura's breasts covered will win out in the end. For now, she walks to the cashier, visibly happy with her new dress and the camisole.
