Test Drive - July Edition
![]() The July Test Drive! Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you! Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself. |
Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it: |
Option 1 |
[ It looks like there are preparations underway for some sort of festival or fair. There are various stands and booths being erected along sectioned-off streets and the riverbank, and decorations are slowly but surely being hanged. Fireflies seem to be appearing all along the riverbank as the sun sets, with a few stands set up with mason jars of various sizes as well as paper lanterns, possibly as further decorations. Whatever the case, it looks like those setting up could use some help! ] |
Option 2 |
[ Though most of the stands are being set up, that doesn't mean that there aren't a few vendors looking to help those out and about beat the heat in some fashion. There are some selling shaved ice with various flavors, and others that appear to be handing out water-filled balloons or squirt guns. However, like in the market district, there's a catch – the items are free, so long as you arrive at the stall in pairs or groups larger than two. ] |
Option 3 |
[ Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.] |
Option 4 |
[If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.] |
Drax the Destroyer | Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
Drax remembers enjoying street markets once. Now, they're too large bustles of people that anger him too easily. Gamora and Peter, he thinks, would not want him to kill these people for nothing.
So he comes early and stalks through the booths being set up. A small thing catches his eye - a plush animal. It has a mask like Rocket, though the colors are wrong.
His daughter might have liked it.

He walks up, clearing his throat to announce his presence as he does so. "You, uh, like the raccoon doll?" he asks.
no subject
"It looks like my friend," he rumbles. "Rocket." A pause. "I do not think he would like it."
no subject
"Your friend looks like a raccoon?" the talking humanoid turtle asks, tilting his head to one side.
no subject
"He looks like this." He picks up the stuffed animal. "Only he is larger-" a hand gesture, about mid-thigh on Drax, "-and a biped. He is not vermin or an animal. This is an animal, isn't it?"

Social skills. He should practice them - it has been a long, long time since he has tried to be social. "What planet are you from?"

Drax frowns. Biology, apart from applied xeno-anatomy, is not his strong suit. "You are a mutant human. But you have encountered creatures that look like Rocket. So you've also been to space."
no subject
Admittedly, he might be an alien that just looks like a raccoon, given that Donatello has encountered aliens that look like humans as well as aliens that look like bipedal Triceratops.
no subject
Drax just nods at the mutant turtle's explanation. "He was made by scientists." He frowns sternly and shifts from merely standing at the booth to looming over Donatello. "He did not ask to be experimented on. You will not disrespect him. He is a person, not an animal, and he is my friend."
no subject
Donnie backs off as Drax moves forward, though his stance changes as well. To a practiced combatant, it's likely clear he's ready to spring to either fight or flight as necessary. Though he's also raising his hands in front of him.
"Whoah, there, big guy, I didn't mean to disrespect anyone. My family and I have been strapped our fair share of tables by shadowy government agents before. I'm not judging. Your friend Rocket actually sounds like he has similar origins to me."
no subject
A smile quirks his lips for a brief moment. "You are a fighter. What is your weapon?"
no subject
"I use a bo staff," Don replies, pointing a thumb over his shoulder to the weapon on his back.

"Did you wish to have the doll? My arm strength is nothing spectacular, but I might win it for you if I try."
And with how deadpan her voice is, she's not even joking. Surely he can get it himself, she's positive his physique lends to that, but why not ask? It's only polite.

He looks the booth over again more carefully. Ah. There is a game set up, and this is a prize. He could win it himself.
But the young woman asked a question... "I do not know," he admits. "It reminds me of my friend."
no subject
"If it reminds you of your friend, would it not make you happy to have it? And if you see them again, they might be touched you thought of them and kept it."
no subject
no subject
"Perhaps there's another doll or another game prize he would prefer instead. What do you think he would like?"
no subject
"A gun. Or a tree." He considers. "A very large tree."
no subject
"Unfortunately, I do not think trees can be festival prizes, nor can guns. However, there must be a shop that sells saplings...somewhere."
