Test Drive Meme!

Welcome to the Rekindle Test Drive!
Trying to see if a character will fit or work in the setting? Need some interaction samples? Well this meme is for you!

Make a post, tag around, and most importantly, have fun! Here's the setting page for those who want to learn a little more about the city itself.

Then don't forget to go reserve your character in a week when they open.

Here's some prompts to help you get started, if you need it:
Option 1
[While the days grow longer and warmer and the older, oriental-style of the city would normally make one think that the interiors would not be much in the way of relief from the hot sun, it may surprise the guest to see that the apartments the natives have allocated for them are surprisingly comfortable. In fact, the only modern convenience they may be missing is a television set! At least, outside the media floor on the first floor of Building One - the first of four inter-connected buildings.

In fact, each apartment building seems to have at least one different amenity on the first floor. In Building Two they seemed to even spare a library in another that seems to have the basics and some information packets that are otherwise found in the Welcome Center in District 2. There are even a few restaurants and common dining areas in the Building Three that are open until late at night, and meeting areas and a ballroom on the first floor in Building Four, perfect for setting up small parties or big events.

With the locals gone save those who work in the restaurants and the one librarian, leaving you to your own devices, what will you do? What mysteries could be left to discover in this place?]
Option 2
[With summer coming, the water level in the river is starting to go down, exposing some of the beach. The Riverside Shack is open late, and its restaurant is pulling out all the stops and offering seafood specials (even though a river is a far cry from an ocean). The rental store, meanwhile, is finally bringing out more of its swimming supplies, inner tubes and pool noodles, and a calmer stretch of the river has been roped off with buoys for swimming. They even have lifeguards chairs set up. Clearly this sort of thing used to be an annual event.

It's not quite an ocean beach (quite different actually), but there's still plenty of chance to have fun in the water. Or teach someone to swim, perhaps.]
Option 3
[If you're more inclined to explore or learn, the City's Learning Center might be more to your tastes. There certainly seems to be a lot going on here - there's laboratories and libraries and workshops, and plenty of communal areas where you can meet and talk with people. The natives seem pretty absorbed with their studies and work, though they're polite in brushing you off, at least.

Perhaps you'll have more luck seeing what other Guests such as yourself have discovered?]
Option 4
[Whoops. Looks like you haven't taken the cautionary words of the other NPCs to heart, or maybe you just wanted to take your chances. Either way, the withdrawal symptoms have started and you need to find someone to hug quickly before you get even more sick.]
Option 5
[If there's something else you wanted to play with, that you didn't see here, then have fun with that. You've just arrived in a strange city, after all. There's got to be plenty to explore out and about, not to mention people to meet.]

Takuma didn't really have much of a clue where he was either, but where most people would be scared, he took this as an opportunity for adventure. There wasn't much that he was scared of, really, after the things he had been through and the things he had seen. And it was interesting to be in a completely different place that he never remembered traveling to. Either this was a dream or some strange phenomena happened to him. Either way, this seemed like the prime spot for gathering some information.

Though, it seemed like he was going to have to do some self exploration seeing as how most of the people seemed to absorbed in whatever they were doing to even look up at him. It was strange to be ignored given his nature, but he knew how wrapped up in things people could become.

But then he saw the young girl who was obviously becoming increasingly upset by the moment, yet no one stopped to even give her a passing glance. Humans could be so cold hearted to one another just as vampires could.

He went up to the blond child and smiled at her softly.

"It's okay, I'll help you now." he said kindly.

She took a deep breath as she saw the older boy, and when he offered to help, she started to calm down, her unease finally settling down. Alice offered him a bright smile, finally glad someone would help her since getting more and more lost seemed to be a habit she was gaining. She was almost near tears, only this time with joy and relief and not from stress. While calming down, Alice noticed that he seemed to be a very... well... pretty young man. She'd never really thought to call a boy pretty, handsome (though he was that too) was something you were supposed to call men but pretty seemed to work just as well in this case.

"Thank you very much, sir!" was her enthusiastic response. "I was getting terribly worried about where I was. I've only just arrived to this place, you see and was looking about. But I couldn't find my way back! And when I tried to ask for help, I kept getting more and more lost and... well... here I am."

Takuma let out a soft laugh at her explanation followed by an abashed smile.

"I'm afraid I won't be much help in directing you back where you came from since I'm pretty lost myself. But! It's not safe for you to be wandering around by yourself" he said with a nod. They were in the same boat but Takuma had more of an edge to him.

"If you'd like, we can wander around lost together. It's better to be lost with someone than by yourself, don't you think?" he said with another chipper chuckle.

"Well, wandering lost together is much nicer than wander lost alone. And I've wandered lost alone so many times. I have to make conversation with myself lest I think I might go mad! Although, I might already be mad, it's hard to tell! Oh ah... I hope you don't mind being with a mad person?" she asked cautiously.

"Oh but yes, it's much nicer with you sir! Why, being lost with someone else doesn't much feel like being lost as all, don't you think?"

Takuma shook his head. "Not at all! It just makes things more interesting. If you were completely sane then you'd be a dull person, but you don't seem that way to me." he stated.

The blond noble held out his hand for her to take. "Being lost with someone feels more like an adventure than mindless wandering. I'm Takuma Ichijou. It's nice to meet you"
madcuriosity: (Quite a pleasure to meet you)

Her hand held his with ease, so small in comparison to Takuma's own. Alice noticed hos soft his skin was and how he was as pale as she was. At his mention of his name she gave a one handed curtsy.

"My name is Alice, Alice Liddell. A pleasure to meet you Mr. Itchy-joe," she replied as she, unfortunately, butchered Takuma's last name with her English pronunciation of Japanese. "I completely agree that getting lost with another person doesn't actually feel like being lost. It's an adventure certainly! What shall we explore! Oh! We should pretend to be great adventurers! It shall be a splendid game! Who would you like to pretend to be!"

Takuma couldn't help but let out a laugh at her enthusiasm. It was cute and it sounded like a lot of fun. This reminded him of the things he would used to try roping Kaname into when they were younger and things he roped Shiki into--well--not too long ago.

"Ee-chee-joh", he corrected. "Let's see...If I were an adventurer, I think I'd be a knight! With a gleaming sword and shining armor! What about yourself?"
madcuriosity: (That's so sweet of you)

[personal profile] madcuriosity 2013-05-22 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
"Eee-chee-joh," she repeated although her pronunciation on the first syllable was actually longer than it really should be.

"Oh! Alright, hmm... well, if you're a knight... well, I could be a princess... or perhaps your noble steed who is able to speak! Oh but! No, I think I shall be... Ah, I know! Well, I shall be the adventurous Queen Alice! Who had her kingdom stolen from her by the wicked warlock and we're on an epic quest with the only loyal knight of the kingdom! We're off to find the mystical stone, the twin stone that is the good stone to counter the evil stone of the warlock!" Alice was bouncing at the idea of this pretend game. "Come, valiant knight! We've nasty goblins to slay and to find the mystical stone to save the kingdom!"
